Re: speaking of YouTube...

Kevin Wollenweber <dancingweed@...>

I could be wrong, but there are a lot of things about You Tube that is unaccessible to us without any sight at all.  I’ve never had the kind of funds that allow me to have a video camera and “broadcast” on it, so to speak or create videos and all that.  Sighted people do this kind of stuff with ease, but, like someone has already said here, all I can do is search out something, like the occasional tutorial or, rather, demonstration.  You Tube is yet another entertainment “channel”, as if you could own a TV where you can press a button or two and actually watch only what *YOU* want to watch when you want to watch it.  But, like those kinds of TV’s, what you want to watch or listen to is not a priority.  It is majority rule and if they like isn’t your cup o’ meat, well, you’re lost.

Hi,

Excel 2016, JAWS 17, Windows 10 – no problems with summing.

Maybe the ribbon is minimized? Or the excel sheet or the Excel window is to small and JAWS can’t read the text?

Other possibilities are

you have turned on „Show Formulas“  (options on ribbon)

or automatic calculation is turned off in Excel options.

Or the cell format is text.(application key, arrow to format, enter, ....)

Hi:

Can someone tell me how to calculate formulas like sum in Excel 2013, Jaws 17 & Windows 10? I used to with Excel 2013, Jaws 14 & Windows 8, go to formulas tab and select insert function. I used to be able to tab through to hear my choices. I don’t hear that any more. By pressing on enter or something I somehow got it to calculate, but now Jaws just says the column & cell number and contains formula and doesn’t tell me what the answer is.

Please advise; thank you.

You've asked this several times and are still going to get the same

You need the program source in order to do anything useful with the

Re: numbers in jaws

In settings center (jaws+6), under Text Processing -> Number and Date
Processing you can find Number processing.

The default is "controlled by synthesizer" but one of the options is
"full numbers".

However, under "Speak single digits" there is also a length setting
after which jaws will switch to speaking digits rather than trying to
speak a natural number, and the default value for that setting is 5.

JAWS and Youtube

Annabelle Susan Morison

Hi, it's Annabelle.
I wonder if any of you fellow JAWS members would know how to fix this. When I try to post a comment to a video on Youtube, there is no edit field. I remember when Youtube used to be screenreader accessible all over the site, no matter if you had Internet Explorer or Firefox as the browser. When I click on "Add a Public Comment", that's where there are no edit fields. Only when I click on the Reply button of a random comment is there an edit field. Why does Google insist on messing with us members who have to rely on a screenreader for accessibilitty?

Thanks, Mike, but this is the situation where you’re on another website, you’ve put an item in the cart and now you’re going through the checkout process. You select PayPal as your payment method, and then you’re taken to a PayPal page. The “classic” option isn’t shown here. My past experiences were that at this point, the log-in page would appear. Now it doesn’t. Instead, I’m getting a page with a log-in line that JAWS does not recognize as a button. I press enter on it anyway, but I’m taken to the credit card info page that I don’t want.

This looks like a change at PayPal because I encountered it both times I tried to complete a transaction today, on two different websites. I haven’t used either website before, and I like to use PayPal in such cases because of the payment info shield it provides.

All of a sudden, Paypal isn't working for me at a critical point. It used to be that when going through a website's checkout process, I'd click on Paypal and be taken to a page where I entered my email and password to complete the transaction. Now I can't get to those edit fields. Instead, I am taken to the option where you fill out your credit card info, which is a second Paypal option. The button to the log-in page takes me to the same page as this credit card info page. Sighted assistance confirms that the button to log in does take you to the page I want, but JAWS apparently can't work with it. I've tried with IE11 and Chrome. Win7.

Has anyone else encountered this obstacle and maybe even found a way around it?

any advice from those who use the yourTube?
Also, does it work with Mac and VoiceOver?

Have you tried YourTube, the accessible YouTube web site?   It's at

It uses the accessible player from AFB to play YouTube videos and Channels.

Is there a JAWS keystroke for commercial-skip on Youtube? I know sighted
people can skip ads, but I’ve looked for a button that says “skip,” to no

Also, unrelated: is there a way to tune in radio online and still use
JAWS, and if so, can the radio volume be reduced enough to still hear the
screen reader well?
