Hi Jim,

If you're running MalwareBytes 1.75 I would stifck with it. I've tried the
newer versions on several occasions & although you can get it to scan &
review the scan results now, you still can't create a schedule for scanning
or updating. I spent the better part of yesterday trying to get MWB to work
for me using 2 different screenreading programs, Jaws & NVDA, without
success. I ended up requesting a refund for the 2 Premium licenses I
purchased.
Take care.

I may have missed something on this topic.

Is this MWB version more accessible than following versions? If so, should
I uninstall the MWB which I now have, and install this version instead?

By the way, I had the same problem, as below, when I tried to go to the link
you provided.

Why inhibit software updates? They come out with new versions because
the old one can't deal with the newest threats. It's a very good idea
to install all available updates as soon as they're released.

Thanks; but, would this process apply to Outlook 2013?

Also, I tend to ignore the "shortcuts" on the ribbon. It's easier for me to

this is less efficient; but, I do the best I can with what I've got!

1. open your Outlook "File" menu

2. down-arrow to "Options"

3. right-arrow once to the "mail" tab

4. then TAB approximately "30" times until you get to the "save copies

5. if this is unchecked, check it by hitting the spacebar

6. then, tab to OK and press enter.

You should have it fixed in no time at all!

JAWS, Facebook, and photo albums

Jim Portillo

Hi there,

I keep on learning more about facebook, and I keep on asking more questions.

I have a little project I want to do.

I know how to post a picture. However, I have about seven or eight pictures
that I want to be able to post. They all belong to a particular theme, so I
thought I could put them all in an album. Is there a way of doing this on
my computer and still being able to caption a few of them individually?

I tried doing this a couple of different ways, but each picture ended up
being posted separately, and my main comment only posted to my first photo.

Or, I'd like to be able to have one post with some commentary and add some
photos.

Is this doable?

Jim

properly, and how to get there.

1. open your Outlook "File" menu

2. down-arrow to "Options"

3. right-arrow once to the "mail" tab

4. then TAB approximately "30" times until you get to the "save
copies
of messages in the Sent Items folder

5. if this is unchecked, check it by hitting the spacebar

6. then, tab to OK and press enter.

You should have it fixed in no time at all!

youtube, podcasts and the mute button with jaws

John J. Fioravanti, Jr.

Hi: For some reason when I attempt to play something on youtube or on a
podcast, it doesn't work. I seem to remember a mute button that is possibly
causing this to happen. Is there a way to get to the mute button with jaws,
I'm using windows 7 and jaws 14.
Any other solutions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi Tony,

Below is a Dropbox download link for MalwareBytes 1.75. Make sure you turn
off all automatic program updating, steps are included, so MWB doesn't
upgrade on you. Please let me know when you get downloaded so I can remove
it from my DB account.

Why inhibit software updates? They come out with new versions because
the old one can't deal with the newest threats. It's a very good idea
to install all available updates as soon as they're released.

Re: Saving sent messages in the Sent Folder in Outlook 2013.

Adrian Spratt

Jim,

Good sleuthing, but you can shorten this process, as follows:

Alt-f for file menu

T for options

Right-arrow once

Alt-v to reach the save in sent messages folder option.

Notice if you listen carefully to that option when you land on it, JAWS verbalizes the shortcut, in this case alt-v. You need to be in the "Mail" dialog for it to serve this function. JAWS verbalizes a slew of shortcuts within the ribbon menu.

Note. I keep the virtual ribbon off. Win7, 64-bit, JAWS 17, Outlook 2010.

PAC Mate Omni BX440: How Can I Make Whiz Wheels Track More Consistently?

Kane Brolin

Greetings, fellow listers. I know that more current issues around
Windows 10 and JAWS 17 are dominating content these days, but I am
soliciting some help about a blast from our past: the PAC Mate. The
PM List, as most probably know, is no longer in existence.

I am a JAWS user as far as my computer is concerned, but I also am the
proud owner of a PAC Mate Omni BX440, which I still use almost
exclusively for the reading and editing of Braille. I love the
self-contained nature of the PAC Mate from a late-night Braille
reading point of view, along with the length of the 40-cell Braille
display and the smooth navigation I mostly experience through the use
of my unit's Whiz Wheels.

But my own PM is about to enter the shop for repairs. I was fortunate
enough to receive a loaner, which is almost as good--except that the
Whiz Wheels do not work consistently in the way I would like them to,
even following a hard reset that I thought would fix the problem. I
also have attempted to change up the way the Active, Braille, and PC
Cursors work with respect to one another; but this does not solve my
problem, either.

As I try to scroll up and down through a BRF document using the Whiz Wheels,
sometimes I find the Whiz Wheels don't track whatsoever. Other times,
when I think I have set the wheel to track line by line, I find myself
whizzing down or up by several lines at a time or tracking
through three or four lines in sequence but then tracking those same lines
over and over when I'm trying to advance further.

Am I experiencing a hardware malfunction that lies outside my control? Or
can I do something to make sensitivity of Whiz Wheels better on this
particular unit? I don't have this problem whatsoever when I use Up
Arrow and Down Arrow to track through my document, so I know it has
nothing to do with how my documents are formatted.

Many thanks for your guidance.

-Kane

Hi all.
Here are instructions that will tell you exactly what to do to upgrade to win 10. Ask any questions. Here are all instructions.

Here you go, How to upgrade to Windows 10 with Jaws.
Upgrading to Windows 10 with jaws 16 or 17.
go to:
http://www.freedomscientific.com/Support/TechnicalSupport/Windows10Upgrade
Download the tool called utility tool, leave it in your download folder.
Download jaws 16.0.4350 or Jaws 17, leave it in your download folder for future use.
Download the Microsoft media creation tool at:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
On this web page, Go to download link now 64 bit version or 32 bit version depending on what system you have.
Download the tool and save it to your download folder for future use.
Leave all three of these downloads in your download folder.
Now, if you have not reserved windows 10, please do so.
press enter on the get windows 10 icon in the notification area.
go down the page and fill in your email address ext. this gives you a verification email.
Now, restart your computer.
check for updates, install any updates, restart to make sure you have all the latest updates.
Now you are ready to begin the upgrade to windows 10.
Run the jaws utility tool, this will get rid of any jaws fragmented files and so on from your system.
Tip, after running the F S tool, any time you restart your computer, you will get a message from Jaws saying:.
The mirror drivers are configured incorrectly, press the spacebar on this message.
In w-10, Jaws does not use the mirror drivers, that is the reason for this message.
Next, Run the media creation tool.
yes, for your users account warning.
Choose, update this computer now and press enter.
you are now in an ongoing and updating dialog which says:
Windows 10 is being downloaded, continue using your computer.
This could take anywhere between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on your download speed.
When it is done downloading, it will go through several screens itself updating your computer and will get it ready for windows 10.
Next, there will be a screen asking you to except the license agreement, check the yes and press enter on next.
Again, the program will run through several screens by itself.
Next, press enter on install.
now you will have no speech, this install takes 45 to 60 minutes to complete.
After 1 hour, press the Windows key+enter key to turn on narrator.
Wait for a few minutes if it does not come on right away.
Almost done.
press the next button.
choose express settings.
press the next button.
if done right, in about 10 to 15 minutes, jaws will come on talking on the desktop in your new w-10 PC.
Now, this is very important, uninstall and reinstall jaws 16 or 17.
This will give you the maximum performance in the w-10 environment.
Tips on how to do this.
Go to programs and features, press enter on Jaws 16 or 17.
Say yes, for your user’s account message.
Uninstall Jaws, Keeping shared settings and personal settings.
If the Jaws dialog does not tell you to restart, Turn Narrator on, Windows
key+enter, restart your computer.
Wait the appropriate time for restarting, turn Narrator back on, Windows
key+enter.
Go to your download folder where you have already put the latest Jaws 16 or 17, set up file.
Press enter on the Jaws setup file.
Follow the Jaws prompts, to install Jaws 16 or 17.
After reinstalling jaws, no need for a restart here, jaws will come on talking with all your settings, except for 2 of them.
Redo your shortcut key, control+ALT+j.
Redo the setting to have jaws come on at the log-on screen.
All your other settings will be remembered by Jaws.
For whatever reason if the media tool fails the first time.
Check for updates, restart, and run the tool again.
In w-8.1, this method usually works the first time.
In w-7, you may have to repeat this method two times.
It is a little more difficult going from w-7, to w-10, then from w-8.1 to w-10.
There are more drivers which much be updated by Microsoft for your w-7 computer to upgrade to w-10.
You need no sighted assistance at all.

Hi.
I don't know if this has been discussed on this list, but I ask this anyway.
I want to try out windows 10 on one of my computers.
It says that I shall get a message when I can update.
I've not gotten such a message.
What should I do?

Then I've Heard that you can burn windows 10 o a dvd/usb memory and install that way.
But how do you do that?
I've got no windows 10 Product key, so how can I install that way if I want to?
Say for example, that my computer carshes. I need to buy a new harddrive etc.
Then I've got no operating system in the computer, so I need to be able to install windows 10 /Kristoffer
