Re: Merge Utility, Why It's Missing, Explained

But, when is the solution going to become available, and why was it not
implemented with the initial release of Jaws 17?

Not trying to be difficult here; just confused.

Major changes have been made to improve the JAWS localization process. This

I don't know how appropriate or beneficial this could be, but if someone on

be able to get enough signitures to make an impact.

Sometimes, I just scratch my head at these kinds of decisions.

I certainly will sign any such petition, if it is created.

I'm looking to upgrade to Jaws 17, possibly during the college teaching
semester break, but that won't be for about 8 weeks for me at this point,
and I sure would like to have the use of the merge utilities feature again.
I know there have been issues with it at times, but the convenience and ease
of using it far outweighs any problems, in my opinion.

Tom, a patition is a good thing but in this case I don't think it will
help. Fs is to in love with money and that is where the change must
come. I promis, if supernova get up to standard as they mostly are
then I will switch. I had enough. There were patitions for other buggs
they never fixed, and I did not here from those people ever that it
was fixed since then. I think ms and fs have some sort of an
agreement, that is why fs going strong and the reason why ms will
never improve narrator. They just give us bits and peaces to to try to
fool us and condition many blind people that ms is really caring about
accessibility. Now as far as jaws features goes, fs is doing the same
thing. If you look at the feature set they did in the last 2 or free
years, its becoming very clear, that only a few things are useful.
Flexable web look nice when you play with it, but really for the money
you pay it don't provide what most people would need. It just help you
to filter what you don't like on a sertin site, and if you visit that
site from another pc or with another screen reader, then you have to
learn the original layout anyway.

Yes, thanks david, I'm just as excited as you are. I wanted to switch
a long time ago, as its not good at all to use adobe flash anymore
with explorer and firefox sometimes have problems. We all know chrome
is the safest and update by itself and very often, and that is what
you need when it comes to a brouzer. Not like explorer wich updated so
little and wich soon will vannage. I also like the fact that it pops
up a window when it ask you to save your password on a site. It don't
just put a random notification somewhere wich you don't always know if
its there and how to interact with it. once I answered the password
promt it allow to continue. Yes, the single menu thing is a good idea.
And when you open settings for example, it give you a nicely layout in
a form of a web page where you can make ajustments easily.

I totally agree. Thanks for those who support me. I think for most of
us its about time to move and talk with our wallits. I'm strongly
considering to move over to supernova. They don't upgrade every year

upgrade whenever it arrives. Only thing is they stil need to support
some apps better before I can really make that switch.

In IE, the same video pauses a few times for a few seconds. Also, Google

of
course. Now, just press alt and the screen reader will say chrome button.
If
you press down arrow, every setting and menu you will ever need is in
that
one vertical column. The history, delete history, book marks, are all in
that one vertical menu just by pressing the alt key on the home page. All
navigation JAWS short cut keys work in Google Chrome. I have not found
anything yet that is not accessible. Also, every JAWS key command works
in
Chrome just like in IE. You can just press alt + D for the address bar
for
example. I will continue to play around with Google Chrome a little more,
and I will be ready to do an Audio tutorial for you guys. You will not
believe just how much better Google Chrome is over any other browser. You
will hear it with your own ears when I send you the tutorial probably by
Friday. I know some of you will use Chrome as your default browser. God

Hi Aidan,
JAWS 17 works great, you are right about that. Have you noticed how everything you need is under that chrome menu. Help, history, and everything is under there. I am so glad you see this too. Have a great one!

Re: Merge Utility, Why It's Missing, Explained

Curtis Delzer

I mean, talk about blowing smoke, that is . . . definitely.
That should always be a property of the new update, to make sure your personalized settings are integrated, and just because something new is so different, that only means that the developer must take care of the customer base so that the differences can be handled by customized settings which can be applied to the newer version. Talk about a crock of double talk, "working on it," when if the plan had been to not include a merge utility, that should have been in the stage of development from the get go, not "we're working on it," now.
If a setting is so new, then double duh! some kind of utility to upgrade and update settings should be employed, not thrown into the discard.
Thinking with their lack of ideas, it seems to me. How about that, "thinking with their lack of ideas."
That's like saying, when the guy snores next to you as you whack him him to wake him up,
"hey! hey!" "Wake up and go to sleep."
duh! and double duh! Pure and simple, someone just . . . screwed up, and there is no denial that can make up for that.

Well, I'm sorry! FS telling us that they are "working on it" is just not

Hi All,

There's no need to craft a petition or anything else. Below tells about the
Merge Utility & why it's missing in Jaws 17, for now anyways. This comes
from What's new in Jaws 17.

Merge Utility No Longer Available

Major changes have been made to improve the JAWS localization process. This
included reorganizing many of the JAWS settings files. Due to these changes,
the Merge utility is no longer installed with JAWS 17 as settings from prior
versions cannot be merged. We are planning a solution for the future which
will replace this utility and provide an even greater benefit for our
customers.

Take care.

I don't know how appropriate or beneficial this could be, but if someone on
the list would be willing to craft a petition regarding this issue, we might
be able to get enough signitures to make an impact.

I'm going to write to FS Tech Support and ask for this deficiency to be
fixed. I hope others will do the same so they realize how important this is.
Can you imagine a popular commercial application forcing users to start all
over again with the settings they've created over the course of years? Note
that "merge" was misspelled in the subject line, which I've corrected.

would happen, why did they not make a priority to implement a

Now you have to manually change everything? Is it possible perhaps to

I find it so tragic that they spend the hole year on smart navigation,

Hi all.
If you enter on the link I sent, it will take you to my drop box page. Go almost to the bottom of the web page and enter on download. That should let you save the entire folder to your computer. Ask if you have anymore questions. Take care.

This looks great. Thanks.

Is there a way to download the folder all at once? If not, it seems there are 3 links with each item. Which link would be used to download that item?

Thanks again, Keith

Hi all.
Here is a drop box link to a folder with 24 tutorials concerning how to install win 10 and everything you need to know how to use it and customize it. You will learn about everything there is to know about win 10. Here is the link and you do not need drop box to download this folder. Take care and let me know how this works for you. Here is the link below.

Hello,

The best way is to search the web for Windows 10 and the word "guide" or other words like "basic", "easy" or "beginner".

The web is your best bet and learn to use it. There is a lot of information out there.

Thanks
