When I hit the F, of course, I get that and then same with the I, but
when I hit the E, I get the little Windows 10

I know from a later message that you can't get the "e" step to work. I'm
finding with the ribbon that you sometimes need to wait for JAWS to speak
something before pressing a letter. Thus:

Alt (wait for JAWS to speak),
F (wait for JAWS to speak),
And so on. The wait is longer at some steps than others. I hope that
turns out to be why "e" isn't working.

cannot seem to get any relief. I'm having trouble with JAWS and Outlook

JAWS will start to perform very sluggishly, and even sometimes, I get a

Most of the time, I end up restarting my machine. Does anyone else have
this problem?
How have you addressed it?

Re: Problem with New JAWS v16.0.4463 and Outlook 2010

Paul Martz <skewmatrix@...>

Hi Tom. Thanks for your help with this.

I reset my folder view to the default, but I still get the same behavior:
arrowing down through the list of messages causes JAWS to say nothing,
except when it lands on an unread message, and then JAWS announces "unread"
but that's it. JAWS doesn't announce the sender, subject, or date.

For my typical folder view, I change the following settings:
- Turn the reading pane off.
- Go into View Settings, Group By, and uncheck "Automatically group
according to an arrangement".
- Finally, back in the ribbon UI, select the "Show As Conversations"
checkbox.
But this is irrelevant, as I get the same behavior, whether I'm using my
settings or the default view settings.

Other things I've tried:
- I completely uninstalled JAWS including shared modules, but kept my user
settings. Then reinstalled the current JAWS release.
- I noticed I had some custom outlook2010 files in my user settings,
probably when I was tinkering around with scripts. So I deleted those, then
rebooted.
But, doing the above has had no effect.

Still stumped!
-Paul

Hi all. I have my Outlook mailbox views set up as grid views, one line
per message, with columns for attachment, sender, subject, received
date, and size. It's not the default view, but I imagine it's a fairly
common customization that many Outlook users employ.

Prior to today's v16.0.4463 upgrade, as I arrowed to each message,
JAWS would say the word "unread" if the message is unread, followed by
the sender's name, followed by the subject, received date, and size.
Basically it would read every column for the highlighted email message.

After the upgrade, this is no longer the case. I still get "unread"
announced correctly for an unread email, but nothing else is read aloud.
Arrowing down through messages I've already read results in JAWS being
completely silent. INSERT+UP ARROW to read current line reads nothing.

Is anyone else seeing this behavior?

I've emailed FS's support email address, and am awaiting a response.

To turn off permanently the protected files, go to files (alt-f), then
options (t). There is a huuuuuuuge dialog with protected files either
in their own category or under trust center, I don't remember which.
Within that dialog somewhere, though.

Re: Problem with New JAWS v16.0.4463 and Outlook 2010

Tom Lange

Hi Paul. I installed build 4463 and took it for a spin with Outlook 2010 on my Windows 8.1 machine and it worked fine. Everything read as I expected it too. I was, however, using the default view that I always use.

How is your Outlook view different from the default? Just curious.

Hi. I finally figured out where to go to address an envelope in Word 2013, but when I try to do so nothing seems to be entered in either the address or return address fields. Is there some way to get JAWS 16 to recognize what’s being typed in and review it or can I assume that the information is being entered even if JAWS isn’t reading it back to me? Thanks for any help you can provide.

It actually wasn't bad. Since my attention span is about as broad as a toothpick I listened to a book while the computer did it's thing. When my input was needed I went back to the computer. If it weren't for multi-tasking I wouldn't task at all.

Judith, how was your speed? Our connection is a T1, and it seemed a little pokey this time. Of course, if that file continues to grow at its current rate, it'll one day need a Blu-ray, rather than a DVD, with all the ancillary material they load on now. That sucker is big!

Re: JAWS and Outlook 2013 issue.

Carolyn Arnold <4carolyna@...>

I did not know the term for it. I just know that in Outlook Express, if I
wanted to send an attachment, say Canasta information, I could be in the
body of an e-mail, hit Insert I, Shift tab, then arrow or first letter
navigate to that entry in Documents (My Documents then) and enter; the
attachment would go out with the e-mail. Now, I have to go to Documents
and copy the document. I don't know if there is a less clumsy way or not.

What is the difference in Plain Text and HTML? Thanks.

Addressing envelopes with Word 2013

Cal

Basically
it
would read every column for the highlighted email message.

-Paul

Wait. You will hear, "Open attachment." Press enter. If you have word, your
