Re: Jaws13.0 beta

Dave...

Dorothy,

According to Mr. Damrey in his Podcast, there will be another revision for
JAWS 12 so one would hope that it fixes the bugs and of course will not
include the new features of 13. We'll just have to trust in his word of
honor and wait. If they fix Excel in the last revision of JAWS 12 then that
is some consolation.

But dave jaws 13 is not being sold yet I thought the important thing was to
get that fixed with jaws 12, so that users would not be obliged to buy
jaws13,to get a fix. I am told the uk list has fallen silent for some days I
suspect they think well,we willbe forced to upgrade regardless, is that a
victory? I mean it would have been just to dreadful if the only item
attended to is that whatsit thing where you get baseball results and which
no one in Uk cares about anyway regards dorothy

Just to let you all know, Excel 2007 now works with JAWS 13. And that was my

biggest complaint.

They did take my favorite keystrokes for reading top 4 and leftmost 4 cells
and give them over to the new Insert+Shift, T table navigation set with a
completely unimaginative set of Alt+1 through 8 keys, so I added my own
keystrokes to these and fixed that problem.

So far JAWS 13 is behaving no worse than JAWS 12 in general situations
overall, and perhaps more responsive.

Again bear in mind that I'm still using XP Pro and the Office 2007 suite.

The Convenient OCR feature is pretty good, although I haven't tried too many

examples of it.

Of course ResearchIt is broken for some of the sites, but that's not a JAWS
issue.

Note that I copied over my JAWS 12 Place Markers, Personalized Settings, and

JAWS dictionary files. I *did not* use the merge feature.

And I definitely modified the OCR voice to something less drastic.

Pretty good so far, right out of the box.

I think my theory of odd-numbered versions of JAWS being the best is holding

up.

I do not know what the issue is in sted of using research it just go to
www.si.com this is the sports illustrated page and it is very accessable
there are links you first come to which are nfl cfb mlb and others now if
you click on cfb yes this is for ncaa football you get a page with the
current weeks football scores and they are continuselly updated. You can do
the same for any sport that s I covers.
There you go and you do not have to keep the issue of not being able to get
ncaa scores

no it doesn't. It won't be fixed until FS find another reliable
source of the scores and adapts ResearchIt to work with it.

In the meantime, you'll have to just look on the Web, or listen to
your local sports radio station or broadcast, turn on ESPN, whatever.

Re: NCAA football and research it not working

That's why Research It is a big waste of time. Web sites are constanltly being changed,so there is no way for FS to keep up with all these changes and keep Research IT up to date. FS should just get rid of Research It once and for all. The easiest way to get NCAA football scores is to call Tell Me at 800-555-TELL. Just say "sports" and then "College Football" at the main menu.

my advice would be to find any Website that shows the scores you are looking for, there must be hundreds of such sources out there, and use quick navigation keys, place markers, bookmarks etc. to make the process as simple and quick as possible.

JAWS 13 pauses while moving in lists

Rob <lister@...>

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced the following behavior with JAWS? Mostly noticeable while using the arrow keys and moving up and down the list of files within Windows Explorer or other dialogs with list items such as in Control Panel or device manager. I will be moving down through the list of filenames and JAWS will freeze for 15 to 30 seconds before resuming. Can't seem to figure what it's trying to do during that time. As far as I can tell, it happens at random time intervals. I'd say at least every 30 to 45 seconds or so. This was also happening when I was using the last two releases of JAWS 12 and I had to roll back to v12.0.1167 for this problem to disappear. Not sure if it's just a problem on my machine or on others as well. Funny how if it is just local to my machine how rolling back a couple releases fix the issue which lead me to believe the problem is in the latest few builds of JAWS. So before I go any further trying to figure it out, has anyone else seen this on your computers?
Thanks,
rob

Re: used space of CPU

Dave...

Yes. It will read the status line, and that is where the CPU usage is being
displayed.

It's easier just to use Insert+Numpad 3 to read the status line.

If you press the read status line command it should tell you, or use the
jaws cursor and go to the bottom and read up a line.

hi all,

I am using jaws 12 with window 7.

I want to know how many percentage of CPU are being used when I am
activating specific software such as Jaws and Window live mail, for example.
I go to task manager by pressing the combination of ctrl+shift+escape then
ctrl+tab to process plage.

The dialogue gives out a lot of information. How can I know the percentage
of used space in my CPU?

thank in advance for any helps that you provide
