Re: W10 upgrad question I have not heard answeredw

Hi,
If you choose, you can tell Windows 10 installer to keep almost everything
(the exception is JAWS in this case, as JAWS 16.0.4350 is the earliest
version that'll work, but you might want to hold off until 17 official build
comes out).
Cheers,
Joseph

Evening all.
I am really considering upgrading to W10 fromW7.
Now the question...
As my system now sits, with some extra programs,Anti Virus things, Favorite
Web sites, documents, Winamp and MP3 files, Scanner program, Printer files,
and so on for all the existing things on this computer.
What would I be getting, just a blank system with all the things that MS
would be installing with it, and not having any of my existing things, for
lack of a better word, and have to start all over again?
Hope you understand what I am asking, because some of you might have asked
this same question to yourselves.

Thanks for any responses.
If you would want to answer this query to me personally so as to not clutter
the list, please do so.
worthington@wi.rr.com
I am really interested in doing this, because there sure has not been a
great amount of negative things said.
Again, sorry to carry on.

Re: Registry Cleaner

john.falter

Hello Julie:
The registry is a database full of information determining how your PC should work.
Various programs write in this database.
Installing and uninstalling programs and apps change the registry.
Sometimes uninstall doesn't remove all that was originally written to the registry.
This makes the large registry even larger than it needs to be and leaves old pieces that can cause your PC to be slow or even misprocess some activity.
You might use a registry cleaner to remove unwanted fragments of uninstalled apps and programs.

But there is a work around. To insure that Chrome is not surreptitiously installed along with CCleaner, you can install a little utility called Unchecky which will search for hidden check boxes in the downloder interface and automatically uncheck them to prevent the surreptitious installation of unwanted software:

There's a program called, Unchecky. It's explained below.
From: Carlos
Anyone who is concerned about unintentionally installing promotional
software may be interested in trying Unchecky.

http://unchecky.com/

It runs in the background as a service and monitors for recognized
installers. It then automatically unchecks any checkboxes related to
installing toolbars, browsers, and similar unwanted products. I have not
thoroughly tested the program and it is not guaranteed to catch everything,
but there have already been several updates since the initial release so I'm
sure it's detection rate will improve.
Carlos

From: Thomas N. Chan
Did you see if the toolbar is already installed, what will it do?
Or it will only look at the installer and nothing else?

From: Carlos
It will not remove anything which has already been installed. It only
monitors installers. It is a tool for prevention, not for removal.

Hi David and Les,

Yes, my laptop does support Bluetooth. In fact I went through the steps in
the focus user guide and completed the pairing successfully.
It seems like it should be working.

One question I had is there seems to be some issue of in versus out when
configuring the comports. Since the focus may be used for both input and
output I'm not certain what the port setting should look like. Right now the
settings are 57600,n,8,1 which matches the settings I see under devices in
the control panel for the focus. I just don't know where to go next with
this problem. I'm ready to say to heck with the Bluetooth and just resign
myself to using the display with the USB connection.

Hi All,

I recently got a focus display and have been using it successfully
with the USB connection. However, despite several extended googling
sessions and multiple calls to FS for tech assistance, I am unable to
get the display functioning via the Bluetooth connection.

I have repeatedly paired and removed the display, checked and messed
around with com port settings and banged my head on the desk out of
sheer frustration.

As I said, I know the display is working via USB with the laptop. It
is also working via Bluetooth with my iPhone. But for my life, I
cannot get it working via Bluetooth with my windows 7 laptop. There is
a tech support ticket open at FS though I'm not very optimistic.

If anyone here would be willing to help me I will be very grateful.

Thanks much in advance.

Kimber

month and year.  I know that Jaws works with Excel, but Excel doesn't sort
or alphabetize in the various ways I need.  Any suggestions are appreciated.

Re: Registry Cleaner

Gerald Levy

I have discussed this issue extensively on the other JAWS list. The check box to deselect Google Chrome and Tool Bar, which is checked by default, is not visible to JAWS in the CCleaner downloader interface, and so there is no way to prevent the unwanted installation of Chrome along with CCleaner. But there is a work around. To insure that Chrome is not surreptitiously installed along with CCleaner, you can install a little utility called Unchecky which will search for hidden check boxes in the downloder interface and automatically uncheck them to prevent the surreptitious installation of unwanted software:

http://unchecky.com/

Re: Registry Cleaner

Mike B <mb69mach1@...>

Hi All,

Or it will only look at the installer and nothing else?

regards
Thomas N. Chan

From: Carlos
It will not remove anything which has already been installed. It only
monitors installers. It is a tool for prevention, not for removal.
Carlos

Take care.

Hi Ted,

Are you talking about this website?
