Hi
It is just a choice you make when you go through the settings. Jaws says not to use it but I have used it for years and haven't had a problem. If you want to use, for some reason, a different player, you must uncheck it because it believes you really want to use Winamp. Hope this helps.

Hi, Lisle. If you use Outlook, and your Virtual Ribbons are unchecked under Settings Menu/Miscellaneous, try this trick. Open outlook. Open the email containing the link. Press the Key combination ALT plus the letter H. Then Press the letter A as in apple, followed by the letter V as in Victor. This will bring up the email in your Internet browser. Once the email is opened, use CONTROL plus HOME to get to the top of the message. Then tab, not arrow, to the link. Press Applications Key or SHIFT plus F10. If you are using Internet Explorer, Arrow down to "Save Target As, and press ENTER. If you are using Firefox, Arrow down to Save Link As and press ENTER. This should allow you to download the podcast.

Re: hearing key name

Mark, you can hear the key name and their respective functions by pressing
Insert 1. When you press this, JAWS should say "On", and then when you
press it again, it will say "off". The keystroke works like a toggle. Hope
this helps!

To the person who suggested using Touch Cursor in VLC, it worked, at least after a fashion. I can now find that status bar. The bad news is that most or all buttons are unlabeled, but, with some help, I at least have something to work with now, and that's a lot more than I had before.

I can no longer e-mail streaming mp 3 links to my Pac Mate from my desktop

Ryan Coverdell

I listen on my Pac Mate Omni to streaming mp-3 files using the tcpmp
player. Since not all sites provide direct key-board friendly links to
these streams I have to sometimes get them either through search
engines and other means through my desktop pc. I used to e-mail myself
these real player links by going into the send link by e-mail option.
Now, what Real Player provides is an image which is not interpreted by
the Pac Mate and its older browser. I have thought of pasting the
stream Url and e-mailing it to myself using my desktop pc. But when I
hit control plus i in the Real Player cloud, it does not bring up clip
info, but rather a dialogue that thinks I am playing a could and asks
me to enter info about the stream. How can I change this? This is very
important, so could some one from the list tell me what you would do
in this situation? I hope my question isn't too complicated. I want to
once more be able to send streaming mp-3 links from my desktop pc to
my Pac Mate. I tried creating a desktop short-cut to a stream, but
this cannot be interpreted by the Pac Mate as a streaming link.
Kind regards, Ryan Coverdell

Hello, everyone.

Typically, with Firefox, I use the control L command, after which I can
paste a web site address into the edit box, and hit enter. I'm then able to
open The web site from that point.

However, I'm finding that the control L command no longer works with

Has anyone noticed this change, and are there good work-arounds?

I have gotten to the point where I actually prefer Firefox to Internet

Firefox behavior is somewhat disconcerting.

I'm using Jaws 16 and Windows 7 here.

Thank you.
