Does anyone know if you are forced to use a Microsoft account, or can you
stil sign in with a local account?

Hi, Carolyn. You don't need to get the latest version of JAWS from the disk. You can download it directly from FreedomScientific.com

Repair Jaws 11, 12, 13, 14, or 15.
1. Place a copy of the Jaws executible version that you want to repair into
the main root of the " C " drive. For example; If you are running Jaws11
most recent you would paste a copy of " J11.0.1430-32bit.exe " into the main
root of the " C " drive. To open the main root of the " C " drive, go to
the desktop, press enter on My Computer, press enter on Local disk C, and
now you have the main root of the " C " drive open.
2. With the Jaws " .exe " pasted into the "C" drive, highlight the " .exe ",
and press F2 as if you were going to edit this line of text. now press
control + C to copy this Jaws executible, press escape to close the edit
field, and press Alt + F4 to close the C drive.
What you want to do is place just the title of the Jaws version into the
Windows Run Dialogue box and not the file. If you were to place the Jaws
executable into the Run box without copying as you did as per the
instructions above you would have pasted the whole file into the Run Box
instead of just the title.
3. Now that you have just the title copied to the clipboard, press Windows
key + R to open the Run Dialogue Box. Type, remember to type a capitalC ,"
C:\ " without the quotes or spaces and press control + V to paste the Jaws
title, press your end key to take the cursor to the end of the title and
type in the following " /type
repair" without the quotes but, with the spaces . Below is what your line
of text should look / read like. C:\J15.0.5056ENU-64bit.exe /type repair
Read character by character to make sure you have put in the proper spaces,
Forward & back slashes and text. press the home key to go to the front of
the title and press enter to start the repair.

It is because of the mirror display driver. FS now has a page on upgrading

upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7, you must reinstall the latest build of
JAWS 16 over the current installation after the update before it will work

Hello Carolyn,
These instructions are ones posted on this list previously, I have not used
them myself, but they read to me like one copies the file name, and pastes
it into one's C drive before beginning the repair. Perhaps the original
poster, whom I apologize to for not being able to identify, could better
respond to your query.

Joseph and Rob,

Thank you for describing the accessibility of the upgrade process. I just
completed it, and both JAWS and Windows 10 are working well.

Thanks Kevin,
I tried that, but with no success. After collapsing today's email, the down
arrow yields nothing, not even the ding I get when the list is totally
empty. Is there a setting in the View menu I might need to change?

Re: repairing jaws

Kevin Hourigan <kevinthourigan@...>

Sorry if this already has been answered, but I was not sure if it was the
same request.
Cheers Kevin.

FS now has a page on upgrading
to Windows 10 that contains specific instructions. Basically, if you
upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7, you must reinstall the latest build of
JAWS 16 over the current installation after the update before it will work
properly.

that explains why you must repair JAWS.

Re: Installation of Windows 10

Hi Michal,
When the upgrade starts, you'll be using the old Windows and you can use JAWS for the first phase of the upgrade (which isn't different from running any setup program). At some point, your computer will restart several times, and after this, you'll hear silence. Once you arrive at this point, you can start Narrator to complete the install.
Cheers,
Joseph

I upgraded from windows 7 home premium, running Jaws 16. Thanks to the people on the list as I had to do a repair on jaws.
I tried using narrator and that helped a little. But, I셫 use to jaws, thus found it frustrating.

In short you can do it by yourself.

I just tried doing this, and was not successful. I gave them the meeting ID

dialog closed, but our computers never did connect. Over the phone, I could
hear his JAWS reading some error code out of a dialog box, and prompting him
to hit the OK button. On my end, INSERT + ALT + TAB caused JAWS to tell me
that I needed to be in an active tandem session, so, my JAWS did not think
we were connected.

Very strange. I thought the 40-minute demo version was supposed to be the
full version, so I expected this to work.

Any info would be appreciated.

Re: instructional material for windows10

Hi Mark,
Which operating system are you using now? If it is Windows 7, you may want to not read what's new in Windows 8 series, but if it is Windows 8, you'll find yourself home when using Windows 10.
There are podcasts and articles from blind Windows Insiders on using Windows 10 (I did a demo of Windows 10 this week on Tek Talk). Sites such as Cnet, Engadget and experts such as Paul Thurrott wrote countless articles on what's new, old and watch out for in Windows 10.
Cheers,
Joseph
