It works... Well-ish with 14. I've seen better. I ended up finding a
workaround for the time being. One program does not a reason for upgrading
make.

Hi,

I have a new My Passport 2 TB drive that I've connected via USB to my PC --
Windows 7, 64-bit, running J16 latest build.

The drive is seen in Windows Explorer, and I can get to it fine, listing the
several onboard folders, but I can't seem to do anything with it. All I get
is a statement about a Context menu, but nothing I do generates any
activity, whether using cursor keys, Tab, Control Tab, Applications key.

I'm stumped. I haven't had this problem with other drives of this type I've
used, all of which were just plug-n-play.

Any help appreciated. Keith

Hi Jimmy,
I have found that opening the heading of "view mobile version" renders the
articles quite readable friendly. After opening the article link, tab
several times past the section heading and tab to view mobile version. Tab
several more times to the beginning of the article. You will pass several
more heading, but keep going.

Yes, I use all these techniques except for flexible web partly because the
NYT's webpages change from time to time and partly because the method is
just too cumbersome if used across the many websites I visit. In addition to
the minor annoyance of skipping links, etc., with n and other quick
navigation keys, the NYT format alters as I progress down each page.
Eventually lines break up, and I need to refresh. When I refresh, I often
find my focus has shifted elsewhere. I avoid "say all" on the NYT website
because I don't like to sit here as JAWS plows through ads, promotions of
other articles, photo captions, etc.

Navigation just shouldn't be this complicated. It's too distracting, as well
as time-consuming.

Adrian,
I too miss the print feature. However, I have just gotten used to using my
navigation keys to quickly get around articles. I generally use the 1 key
to skip to the first level heading (usually the main article title), then
use the n (next) key a couple of times to skipp past the various option
info. This will generally get me close to the main text. I then use Say
All or the read paragraph keys to go through the article. I also have set
up flexible web to delete as many of the advertisements as I can. While a
little more cumbersome than the old print function I have found I can get by
pretty well. I also like to use the H (next heading) key on main pages
(such as national news) to skip through the article headings.

Hi. Some time ago, there was a thread about changes to the NY Times website
that made navigation difficult and the "print" versions of articles
impossible to find. The Times promised me, and presumably others, that they
were working on making fixes. The problem has only become worse since then.

I'm posting this query to find out if others are experiencing a particular
problem. Unlike in the past, there is no "print" link in an article.
However, there is a "more" link. After clicking on this link, sighted
readers can see a link to "print." I can click on the "more" link, but the
"print" link is still elusive. I found it just now, but once I managed to
click on it (I had to go into links list), all I got was a printer dialog.
Escaping out of the dialog, I found the page was laid out exactly the way
the main article page is.

So, is anyone doing better at finding and using the "print" versions of NY
Times articles? If so, would you explain how? Any other suggestions? (I know
about the NFB version, but it lacks the links within articles that can be
invaluable.)

Thank you very much for enlightening me about the Developers Tools.
I've

However,
deleting the domain cookies did not help at all. Something though, on
my XP

but
not running J15! I had stated that J15 on my XP computer would read the
search results numberically, but I was wrong. Neither J15 or J16 reads
search results numerically on my Windows7 Pro computer.
Take care.

Hi again, Mike. I don't know that this will work, but you might want to
try
removing the cookies for the domain:
google.com

You would do this in the following way:

1. Bring up google.com in IE.

2. Press the function key F12 to bring up the developer tools submenu.

3. Press the ALT key, and Right arrow over to Cache.

4. Down Arrow to Clear Cookies for Domain, and press Enter.

5. Close the browser, and reopen Google.com. See if this puts google
back to
its default state.

When I studied at the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired, a residential school specializing in teaching adaptive skills, I was in one of the most restrictive computer environments imaginable. Students were prohibited from visiting any site that requires them to enter their personal information (e.g. online stores and all sites requiring users to log in), and many web pages, including Google, were completely blocked. As for e-mail, all attachments with nontextual extensions (photos, music, videos,
etc.) were filtered out to prevent school computers from catching a virus.
Moreover, all traffic from outside the state network was marked as spam, unless the address was in the user's contacts.

That being said, I strongly suspect your e-mail administrator's settings interfere with your communication on this list. While there may be a setting you can change yourself, I'm afraid the matter lies in the hands of the state, which may have to work with the list administrator. I'm sorry I can't be of greater assistance, but I hope your issues get resolved quickly.

This is really for the administrator, so I'd be happy to go off list. I just had to resubscribe, due to too many bounces. Anybody care to elaborate on that? This is my state e-mail account. I just process them-read them, delete them, respond to them, whatever. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening?

I've had some strange experiences. A certain number of these messages wind up in quarantine, or in junk mail. Once everything was funneled to junk for several months; I thought I'd been dropped, and couldn't figure out why.
Now this.

At this point, I suspect the page won't be abailable until Windows 10 is
officially released on July 29.

Listers,

I just bought me this Tablit, however, I need the tutorial for the touch
screen, does that exist? I hope so. It's the top of the line Android.

Is there away to put jaws on this unit. I don't really mind using the text
to speech program, but if I could use jaws, I might.

Thanks to all.

Help with new external hard drive

Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.

Hi,

I have a new My Passport 2 TB drive that I've connected via USB to my PC -- Windows 7, 64-bit, running J16 latest build.

The drive is seen in Windows Explorer, and I can get to it fine, listing the several onboard folders, but I can't seem to do anything with it. All I get is a statement about a Context menu, but nothing I do generates any activity, whether using cursor keys, Tab, Control Tab, Applications key.

I'm stumped. I haven't had this problem with other drives of this type I've used, all of which were just plug-n-play.

Any help appreciated. Keith

I've just been over to Google, played "Just a Little Talk with Jesus," number 4. I am so sorry for you all who have lost the numbers. That would be far less convenient for me. It would be one thing if I'd never had them, but I am quite accustomed to them.

Best to you from,

Carolyn

No, not weird at all. I am also using XP and I still get numbered Google search results with JAWS 9 and IE 8. But with Firefox, I have never gotten numbered results.

Hi Again Bil,

Thank you very much for enlightening me about the Developers Tools. I've
never been in there, & it's very interesting, to say the least! However,
deleting the domain cookies did not help at all. Something though, on my XP
computer running J13, Jaws will read the search results numberically, but
not running J15! I had stated that J15 on my XP computer would read the
search results numberically, but I was wrong. Neither J15 or J16 reads
search results numerically on my Windows7 Pro computer.
Take care.

Hi again, Mike. I don't know that this will work, but you might want to try
removing the cookies for the domain:

See if this puts google back to
its default state.

Well, Michael, it sounds like JAWS managed to break something again in its updates, and furthermore, didn't fix it through two major updates.
