Re: Spelling on word 2013
Michal Nowicki <mnowicki4@...>
Microsoft unfortunately introduced some accessibility issues in Word 2013,
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
and navigating the spell checker is probably the biggest of these problems. For instance, JAWS no longer announces spelling errors automatically every time; sometimes you must press Tab and Shift Tab to accomplish this task. Additionally, the spellcheck hotkeys (ignore, change, ignore all, etc.) no longer work, though pressing them without the Alt key (I = ignore, c = change, etc.) does the trick sometimes. I hope Microsoft addresses these accessibility barriers in Office 2016. Meanwhile, I hope the above observations help.

When I studied at the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired, a

residential school specializing in teaching adaptive skills, I was in one of the most restrictive computer environments imaginable. Students were prohibited from visiting any site that requires them to enter their personal information (e.g. online stores and all sites requiring users to log in), and many web pages, including Google, were completely blocked. As for e-mail, all attachments with nontextual extensions (photos, music, videos, etc.) were filtered out to prevent school computers from catching a virus. Moreover, all traffic from outside the state network was marked as spam, unless the address was in the user's contacts. That being said, I strongly suspect your e-mail administrator's settings interfere with your communication on this list. While there may be a setting you can change yourself, I'm afraid the matter lies in the hands of the state, which may have to work with the list administrator. I'm sorry I can't be of greater assistance, but I hope your issues get resolved quickly.

Some time ago, there was a thread about changes to the NY Times website that made navigation difficult and the "print" versions of articles impossible to find. The Times promised me, and presumably others, that they were working on making fixes. The problem has only become worse since then. I'm posting this query to find out if others are experiencing a particular problem. Unlike in the past, there is no "print" link in an article. However, there is a "more" link. After clicking on this link, sighted readers can see a link to "print." I can click on the "more" link, but the "print" link is still elusive. I found it just now, but once I managed to click on it (I had to go into links list), all I got was a printer dialog. Escaping out of the dialog, I found the page was laid out exactly the way the main article page is. So, is anyone doing better at finding and using the "print" versions of NY Times articles? If so, would you explain how? Any other suggestions? (I know about the NFB version, but it lacks the links within articles that can be invaluable.) -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
