reading a file with insertions & deletions in Word

Lauren

Hi,

What is the best way for me to see the text as is if another person has made
insertions and or deletions in Word 2013? I don't want to see the changes I
made when I emailed it to the other person.

Is there a way to read what the document contains as if it was never
tampered with, but has the changes incorporated into the document?

Thanks.

Sincerely,

Lauren

Navigating the New York Times

Adrian Spratt

Hi. Some time ago, there was a thread about changes to the NY Times website that made navigation difficult and the "print" versions of articles impossible to find. The Times promised me, and presumably others, that they were working on making fixes. The problem has only become worse since then.

I'm posting this query to find out if others are experiencing a particular problem. Unlike in the past, there is no "print" link in an article. However, there is a "more" link. After clicking on this link, sighted readers can see a link to "print." I can click on the "more" link, but the "print" link is still elusive. I found it just now, but once I managed to click on it (I had to go into links list), all I got was a printer dialog. Escaping out of the dialog, I found the page was laid out exactly the way the main article page is.

So, is anyone doing better at finding and using the "print" versions of NY Times articles? If so, would you explain how? Any other suggestions? (I know about the NFB version, but it lacks the links within articles that can be invaluable.)

Re: Back Sate View In Word

Michael Mote

Actually I think you may be able to do that. I press Alt plus the letter F
for the file menu. Next, I arrow down a couple of times to the open tab.
When I get there, I press right arrow, and then use right arrow key again to
find the recent items. You can use up and down arrows to navigate through
the list of the recent documents you've opened.

Andre, I believe Brian is asking about a feature in the file menu of
previous versions of MS Word. If you pressed alt-f and arrowed up, you'd
encounter the last five or so documents you'd worked on and could just press
enter to open the one you wanted.

Brian, I'm sorry, but I believe this feature no longer exists in Word 2010.

This is really for the administrator, so I'd be happy to go off list. I just had to resubscribe, due to too many bounces. Anybody care to elaborate on that? This is my state e-mail account. I just process them-read them, delete them, respond to them, whatever. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening?

I've had some strange experiences. A certain number of these messages wind up in quarantine, or in junk mail. Once everything was funneled to junk for several months; I thought I'd been dropped, and couldn't figure out why. Now this.

Re: HP Printers

Adrian Spratt

Kevin,

I'm not sure you've gone to the right area. Start typing "devices" (as in, devices and printers) into the Windows search field. Pres enter on the first item, and the list will appear. When I had an HP printer, I had a hard time isolating it on that list and had to resort to the JAWS cursor and the insert-PC key combo. I don't have this difficulty with my new Brother printer, so in my experience it's something about HP products.

Finding errors on excel

Hi all,

On Excel, is there a way to find formulas with circular reference? I have a
excel document with 1257 formulas, and I need to find a formula where is
occurring this error "circular reference".

Is a way with jaws to find where is the problem between all these formulas?

Thanks

Re: Just curious -- what happened to Windows 9?

Nicole Massey <nyyki@...>

So was Vista.
Here's what I've found out using a simple web search.
There are a few possible reasons why they didn't go with Windows 9 as the
name. One possible reason is that 9 is considered bad luck in Japan. Another
suggested reason is that there is some legacy code that looks for Windows 9
to find out the version, and these old programs or anything that uses that
old code will think it's a Windows 95/98 version. Microsoft's reason is that
it's that big of a change in paradigm that they went to the more auspicious
10. Some folks also think it might be that they're planning on sticking with
the version name for a while, like Apple did with OSX, so they'll stick
around using different versions of Windows 10 for a while. The reality is
that it's Windows 6.4, based on the Vista 6x version, so they could call it
Windows 1,549,683 and it would have as much meaning as anything else. It's
just a marketing name. Of course, with the exception of the 4.x iteration
for Windows NT 4.0, even numbered versions of windows haven't been that
wonderful. (Remember, Vista starts with VI, the Roman numeral for 6) So they
could be shooting themselves in the foot by jumping to another even number.

Thanks, Keith
