Re: Jaws 16 Window media Player 12 help and keystroke command

Lisle, Ted (CHFS DMS)

Try using Control Panel to get to "Play all (I believe that's correct)." It'll give you options for playing about any digital media you care to name. You might want to take time to go through the various categories, set them up the way you want, and save your customizations. You're not locked in, as you would have been in earlier systems, short of a registry hack.

As stated earlier, I never used burn, and haven't used rip since changing OS's, although I've seen them both while looking for something else. I wish I could tell you the Microsoft "No Help" system would provide your answer, but, more often than not, those files are just plain pathetic.

Hello Ted,
I was able to tab to burn, but if I remember correctly rip was in the context menu, and is not showing up now. Further Jaws is not doing anything when the disk is inserted. I needed to go to All Programs, and select Windows Media Player.
Thank you for your input.
Cheers Kevin.

I can help you with Goldwave. I've been using it for a long time. You can download it and try it free for a while until you have performed a certain number of operations with it. I can't remember how many. Then you can purchase a one year license for less than $20 or you can purchase a life-time license for around $50. It is very accessible and can be controlled by the keyboard.
There are a great number of features. Some you will use often and some you may not use at all. The help files and manual are extensive.

It's not so much a Jaws friendly program as it is an access friendly one.
If you have any questions, send me an email to rex.howard@...

Re: Jaws 16 keystroke command and help on window media player 12 !!

Lisle, Ted (CHFS DMS)

I've never burned anything in WMP, but, if it's not set to start automatically, start tabbing. Near the end of the list, you should hit a play button, which usually works for either CD's or DVD's. Come to think of it, Windows should ask you what you want to do with the disk after you insert it.

Lisle, Ted (CHFS DMS)

The Louisville area produced several--B. T. Kimbro, Ray Randles, Tom Scoggins, Joe Elliott, the last of whom was featured in a 1994 issue of Popular Communications (sorry, I can no longer remember the month).

I would suggest that you contact broadcasters locally and find out
what they
use. Get a feel for what's the industry standard and focus on getting
facility with that set of tools. Some may have accessibility issues,
so
you'll need to work with the department in your school to get those
issues
resolved if at all possible.
You can find a lot more help regarding audio issues on the MIDI-mag
list.
And you might also want to talk to folks at a local IAAIS
(International
Association of Audio Information Services) station if you have one.
These
are the folks that produce programs for blind listeners, and they're
both
familiar with supporting blind folks and also familiar with broadcast
issues.

Hi!

You should look at "Audacity." It is a powerful audio editor and it
is
free. Out of the box, it is accessible. Plus, there are JAWS
scripts
for it that make it even more accessible. A link to its website

Greetings,
My name is Ariel. I am thinking about going back to college. I would
like to study broadcasting. However, I do not have any experiences in
this field.
Thus, I am interested in taking some lessons on the side before I go
straight to college. Also, I am setting out to learn how to use JAWS
with audio editing software. In a way, this will be aiming to get

Any advice would be greatly appreciate it. I know there are seminars

Thank you,

Question with word 2010 and submitting edited resumes

toml614 <toml614@...>

Good day all, My name is Tom. I am running word 2010 and updated my resume to reflect my new phone number. However, when I submit it for automatic extraction or just upload it to a job site it shows old number and address populated in fields. Both of these peaces of information have been updated in the resume. Thanks in advance, Tom from Iiowa

I would suggest that you contact broadcasters locally and find
out what they
use. Get a feel for what's the industry standard and focus on
getting
facility with that set of tools. Some may have accessibility
issues, so
you'll need to work with the department in your school to get
those issues
resolved if at all possible.
You can find a lot more help regarding audio issues on the
MIDI-mag list.
And you might also want to talk to folks at a local IAAIS
(International
Association of Audio Information Services) station if you have
one. These
are the folks that produce programs for blind listeners, and
they're both
familiar with supporting blind folks and also familiar with
broadcast
issues.

Hi!

You should look at "Audacity."  It is a powerful audio editor
and it is
free.  Out of the box, it is accessible.  Plus, there are JAWS
scripts
for it that make it even more accessible.  A link to its website

I can help you with Goldwave. I've been using it for a long time. You can
download it and try it free for a while until you have performed a certain
number of operations with it. I can't remember how many. Then you can
purchase a one year license for less than $20 or you can purchase a
life-time license for around $50. It is very accessible and can be
controlled by the keyboard.
There are a great number of features. Some you will use often and some you
may not use at all. The help files and manual are extensive.

It's not so much a Jaws friendly program as it is an access friendly one.

What if you want to sskip more than 10 seconds?

Do you just hold the J or L key down for a longer period of time?

This is great info! I've been looking for this.

With Rewind or Forward, does a key press result in a defined amount of
position jump one way or the other, or does it start a position move that
needs to be ended with either a repress of the key, or pressing the K key?
Does it announce how much the position is changing as it changes?

I'll be trying this as soon as I get home tonight.

Thanks, Keith

Hi Justin,

There are some short cut keys you can use to do everything you mentioned.
Below are details of the shortcut keys from a post not so long back from
another user which is really helpful

There are keyboard shortcuts built into Youtube. If you turn off the virtual
cursor, meaning you can't then use first letter navigation keys, you can
then use the letters j k and l to rewind, play/pause, and fast forward. If
it's Jaws, the keystroke to turn off the virtual cursor is insert Z, and
again to turn it back on. However, if you're listening to a YouTube and all
you really want to do is pause and get up from your seat for a break, then
use the pass through key, which in Jaws is insert 3 on the number row. This
lets Jaws ignore the next key press, so you could just press K to pause the
video. Then when you're ready, use the pass through key again and type K to
resume playing.

Hello listmembers:

I have been a longtime visitor to Youtube, listening to many songs and
watching interviews and videos compatible with many of my interests
including, music, literature and history. Through all this time though, I
didn't use any of the controls: (rewind, fast forward, Pause, Mute etc. I
wasn't sure if they were accessible with my older version of JAWS.

Now that I have JFW16, I want to use Youtube more effectively and access
these controls. A day or so ago, I opened up Youtube through Firefox and
turned off the Virtual Cursor. When I started tabbing around, none of the
above-mentioned controls were referenced: just the standard Youtube links.

Any help/direction is surely appreciated.

Best, Justin

Re: GoldWave

Paul D. J. Jenkins <pdjj6123@...>

Hello Ariel,

I am well, thanks! How are you? The GoldWave website is:
http://www.GoldWave.com
If you are using a computer running a 32 Bit version of Windows Vista,
Windows XP or earlier, you will need to use the 32 Bit download, version
5.70. If you are using a computer with 64 Bit Windows 7, you will need to
install version 6.1.1.
Note: To see what operating system you are running, you may do the
following. I cannot verify whether or not these instruction will work in
Windows 8, as I have never used that version of Windows. They should work
for 7 and earlier. If you already know how to do this, or if you want to
skip it for any reason what-so-ever, simply down-arrow, or perform a search,
for "***" excluding the quotes.

1. Navigate to the Windows desktop by pressing Alt Plus M while JAWS is
loaded.
2. Press either "C," as in Charlie, until you reach the "Computer" icon, or
"M", as in Mike, until you reach the "My Computer Icon.
Note: If this is not located on the desktop, it should also be in your start
menu.
3. Press your applications key, (typically located to the left of your right
control key), or, Shift F10 will perform the same, mouse right click,
command.
4. Up-arrow to "properties," and press enter.
5. Press Insert B, as in Bravo, to read the dialogue box. When finished,
just press escape to exit.

***

As of this writing, a one-year license of GoldWave is $19.00, and a lifetime
license of GoldWave is $59.00. If you are purchasing outside of the United
States, there is a link to a currency converter on their purchasing page.
There is a trial period that will allow you to see whether or not you like
the software before purchasing. I am having difficulty pinning down exactly
how long it is, but if memory serves me correctly, it is fourteen days. I
have attached both the 32 Bit, and 64 Bit manuals. I do not know of any
tutorials, but the manuals are very extensive and detailed. Pressing F1
after installation will also give you a wide-range overview. I hope this
helps. Enjoy your weekend!

All the best,

Paul Jenkins

I would suggest that you contact broadcasters locally and find out what they
use. Get a feel for what's the industry standard and focus on getting
facility with that set of tools. Some may have accessibility issues, so
you'll need to work with the department in your school to get those issues
resolved if at all possible.
You can find a lot more help regarding audio issues on the MIDI-mag list.
And you might also want to talk to folks at a local IAAIS (International
Association of Audio Information Services) station if you have one. These
are the folks that produce programs for blind listeners, and they're both
familiar with supporting blind folks and also familiar with broadcast
issues.

Hi!

You should look at "Audacity." It is a powerful audio editor and it is
free. Out of the box, it is accessible. Plus, there are JAWS scripts
for it that make it even more accessible.

In a way, this will be aiming to get
myself familiar with the accessibility of audio editing software.
Any advice would be greatly appreciate it. I know there are seminars
for Office and the like, but is there something focused on audio
production?
Thank you,
Ariel
