In my system, you can hit Alt V. In it are Current View, Columns, Layout, you can adjust all of those functions in each section, like Inbox, Sent Messages. You can set it to come in the priority order of your choice, to indicate size, all of that stuff.

is there a way to set the view details for a folder as the default for every folder?
I want to have every file have the type, date and size show up in any folder I look in without having to change the details for a particular folder. I don't know if I made enough sense but if clarification is needed, let me know.

Thanks for the helpful remarks. It turns out that the book in question has densly packed tiny print thus the many lines per page. The cursor inconsistancy stems from the fact that zoom was set to 200. My wife agrees.
