I can't speak to this problem, but I have noticed that I am losing focus
when in my outlook 2010 program. This seems to be getting worse. I first
noticed this with the first update after jaws 16 was installed. It is
becoming very annoying to me.

my function keys (insert f1 through 12), have stopped working on my keyboard

Windows 7,, jaws version 14. Somehow my function keys, (insert f1
through whatever), quit working. I can't exit web-pages (altogether
f4), unload Jaws (insert plus f4), or even restart my computer using
windows m and then altogether f 4 to get to the shut-down options. I
have a neighbor who can see, that could try some things. But before I
go to the trouble of finding out if he can do something I'd like to
try to do some things myself. Could one of you please e-mail what to
try and be as specific as possible. I don't want to completely mess up
anything. Kindest regards, Ryan Coverdell P.S. I hope
there's a simple reset command or something.

Did you look under the "help" menu "about JAWS"? Mine showed the new update

I just installed the update and the computer rebooted. On my main menue the
update is not noted. It still says jaws 16.

How Do I Get Jaws To Read The Scan Results On Vipre

I use Vipre as my anti-virus software and I don't know how
to make Jaws and another screen reader called Window Eyes to read the scan
results on Vipre. Do any of you people know how to make Jaws and Window
Eyes read the scan results on Vipre?

I just installed the update and the computer rebooted. On my main menue the
update is not noted. It still says jaws 16.

I just installed the update and the computer rebooted. On my main menue the
update is not noted. It still says jaws 16.

from inadvertently leaving Forms mode while interacting with controls
inside application regions which require Forms mode remain active and
is similar to having to press the PC cursor command twice quickly to turn
off the Touch cursor.
.Resolved issues with JAWS reading links and other content on web
pages marked as hidden and not meant to be read by screen readers.
.Resolved an issue where changes to the Graphical Links setting were
not being saved when configured through the Personalized Web Settings

JAWS and Windows 8.1

Hi Claudia, JAWS 15 and 16 both work very well with Windows 8.1! If
you have at least JAWS 15, you have the touch cursor to use to
navigate the start screen and use the apps that are there. Windows 10
is supposed to be even better, because it improves 8.1! It should
come out in the fall, but if you get 8.1 now, you will be able to
update to Windows 10 for free! Have a great day, all of you!

Hello Bob,



I have tried using the free version of Sync Back and it
doesn't work well with Jaws. The PC Curser is not accessible with Jaws and
I use the Jaws Curser to click on run and it doesn't do anything even though
I have an external hard drive plugged into my computer. Can you please find
out what other backup programs that are completely accessible with Jaws and
other screen readers like Window Eyes?

Hello David,

Thank you so much for your assistance.

When I got to the "open file location", and put the cursor on the "shortcut"
item, the contex menu did not have a choice for sending to the desktop.
There was the choice of toolbar and short cut as you mentioned. Well, I
decided to select the "shortcut" item and copy to the desktop. Well, that
worked and I now have the shortcut on my desktop from which I was able to go
to properties and create the shortcut.

Problem solved.

Again, thanks for your help and also for suggestions from others.

Hi Barbara,
if you open the context menu of the Jaws on the start screen, and choose
open file location, File explorer should open, and a Jaws shortcut should be
selected. The other item in the location should be a tools folder.
Are you saying that there are no items in the items view when file explorer
opens?
If this is the case, can you then press alt+d to go to the address bar, and
then press ctrl+c to copy the address. Then post a message and paste that
address (ctrl+v) into it so that I can try and work out what's going on.

Most warning dialog boxes contain a "do not show this message again"
checkbox. If that is the case with the ones you're getting, you just need
to check that box, and it should never come up again.

dialogue box or any dialogue box for that matter to be in the background_ i
want it to always be able to open in its own separate window_ how can i

The message could have been more specific, indicating that the pass through procedure is referring to the attached submenu rather than to the link. I don't recall that I've seen submenus attached to links except on Audible, but there must be other examples somewhere.

This is useful information, and you're right, the applications key brings up a different menu depending on whether I reach the link by arrowing or tabbing. I hadn't known. That said, Audible's instruction to press the pass-through key combo is confusing when all a visitor need do is press enter to reach the item named in the link.

Adrian,
In order to get the pass through to work properly, you must tab to the links
with the submenus instead of using your arrow keys. This is due to a
long-standing problem that JAWS has of focusing a link. To see an example
of this, arrow to a link; then press your Applications key and note the menu
choices. Then tab to the same link and repeat the process. You should see
a different menu.

My experience on the Audible website says to ignore this pass-through
verbalization. For example, whenever I land on the "Library" link, Audible
issues that pass-through message. However, I just press enter, as usual,
and I go right to the library. I've tried the pass-through insert-3 key on

Dear list,

I'm sure this has been addressed before, but on the audible.com site, in
order to access some of the menus jaws says "press passkey and space to
get
through" or something like that. What is the command for the pass key with
Jaws? thanks

Hi Barbara,
if you open the context menu of the Jaws on the start screen, and choose open file location, File explorer should open, and a Jaws shortcut should be selected. The other item in the location should be a tools folder.
Are you saying that there are no items in the items view when file explorer opens?
If this is the case, can you then press alt+d to go to the address bar, and then press ctrl+c to copy the address. Then post a message and paste that address (ctrl+v) into it so that I can try and work out what's going on.

I have tried the "function key" with F10, however; the contex menu has the
following choices:
Unpin from start, unpin from taskbar, uninstall, open new window, run as
administrator, open file location, and resize-submenu.
I tried going to the file location, but didn't find anything there.

I had the people from Staples where I purchased the computer, to install
everything and, was surprised too that jaws was not on the desktop.

I really appreciate this group of wonderful people who are so supportive.
