You could press function key 5 then spacebar to go from slide to
slide;however, jaws will automatically read it to you, so you could
just grab your cup of java, sit back and relax while elequence is
doing this...
Shif space will reverse navigation...

When I get that error it has been due to not having the client
components required as part of my jaws install. It also takes having
purchased the jaws remote option (an additional $200 iirc).

I use Acronis. Backups are barely accessible, by using the JAWS OCR Window
command.

Restoring from backup is entirely different and not accessible, as JAWS is
not running for a full restore, obviously. Restoring individual files,
however, is just as accessible as the backup process.

Because you must use OCR Window, this software is quite tricky. I don't
recommend it for neophytes. You have to play with it quite a bit to
successfully fire off a backup.

I've been having more and more problem with the crashing in the last year,

No, some times when you do a search and there are results in another language google will give you an option to translate the page. If I use that button I get the version with the combo boxes otherwise I just get the hard to work with buttons.

No, some times when you do a search and there are results in another language google will give you an option to translate the page. If I use that button I get the version with the combo boxes otherwise I just get the hard to work with buttons.

Oh yeah, JAWS can care a lot. Sometimes our mainframe app flips, and it's a real mess. Much of what you need to see scrolls off the right-hand side. I think we resolve it through the View screen. In all these years, I've never had a problem with the screen itself, all applications, but I'm familiar with the control-pannel module about which he spoke.

Right, though I've got things set up so I can shut down Jaws and restart it again with no problems, and this only comes up when a sighted person tries to use my screen -- I couldn't care less about the rotation when I use it as Jaws doesn't care about it at all from what I've experienced, and I don't know there's a problem unless a sighted person, who is on hand to make sure it's rotated correctly, is telling me about it. So though it's handy to be able to do this without sighted assistance as one more accessibility issue resolved, it's not something I can imagine comes up without sighted persons involved.

Tim's suggestion gets it done without shutting off JAWS.

Windows + M or D to desktop then take focus off any icons then open
the context menue shift + f10 then to graphic options and to rotate screen.

I can't see the orientation so for me this indicates that I've set it
to "normal" orientation....

Yes, this happens on my non-Dell machine with an Intel graphics
adapter as well. I've not found a way to right this condition with
Jaws on, but shutting it off, fixing the problem, and then turning it

This problem is not unique to Dell laptops; I've run into this issue
with Dell desktop machines that have an Intel graphics adapter. I
think the shortcut that caused the screen rotation is ctrl+alt+right
arrow, and to set it back to normal may be ctrl+alt+up arrow. If
that
doesn't work, put focus on the desktop and make sure that nothing is
selected. Then bring up the context menu with the applications key
or
shift+f10, and look for something related to Intel Graphics. Open
shift+that
submenu and in there you should see an option to reorient the screen.
You may also see something that will disable screen rotation.

Not sure what the shortcut key is that rotates the screen but it

similar or adjacent to one that I use since this seems to happen

reasonably frequently.

dropbox set up

Hello Good folks.



Downloading dropbox onto this 8.1 computer using jfw latest version and
build.



Has anyone encountered the issue I am having, where at the dropbox set up
screen to type in your email address and password, the information is not
accessible to jaws?

I've tried restricting, unrestricting cursors, using the ocr feature, made
sure it's maximized, but each time I must do this, I'm needing sighted
assistance. I grabbed it from ninite.com btw, dropbox that is.





Drives me nuts, because my kids are asleep right now so I have no sighted
assistance; however, there is my dog but once I let her back in the house,
she will go straight to her pillow and will not lift a paw to help the hand
that feeds her.

Thanks Bill and Mike. This needs more attention if there is some conflict or it doesn't work for everyone.

I read the discussion in the link but this is more for screen review mode.
My problem is that Jaws doesn't read the text in edit boxes in some Mozilla dialogs. As I am finding more and more places where this happens in other applications, it is about time I phoned Freedom Scientific to see if there is something wrong with my system. Yes. I've reinstalled Windows 7 home premium 64 and Jaws.

Thanks Bill, for the complete instructions. Would be nice to know what they actually are doing that effects screen readers. Do you know where they are origenally posted?

Subject: lost instructions to make Firefox and Thunderbird work better withJaws


I reset Firefox and now some areas of the browser don't read as well with Jaws 15 and 16. Would someone please re post the fantastic instructions to edit the Firefox configuration file to make Jaws and other screen readers work better with it? Please, also send a link to the source if it is published.
