Hi,

I am using W7 64 bit, JAWS 14 and Office 2007.

When I use Research It and go to Wikipedia for rest of the article I get the
message that "server busy, in use by another program".

I can not find what program has the server tied up.

Oh yes, I use FireFox.

But will probably not be very good!
If you have office you can scan and OCR, you can find that.

Hi Bill,

Try changing the following in, about:config.

This is the default setting:

layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled set Boolean true

This is what I changed it to:
layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled set Boolean false

With this line of text highlighted, press the application key to open the
context menu & press the letter, T, to toggle it to true or false.

From:

Hello!

Perhaps you should change this value from "true" to "false" in about config
page:

layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled

I use Firefox 34.0 with JAWS 15.0.12085 and the JAWS cursor works quite
well.

See also this discussion:

Take care.

Re: OCR Programs

Ian D. Nichols

Hi Listers,

Re. Abby Fine Reader: I had this program installed on my laptop, although I
never used it. I think it came originally a few years ago from Freedom
Scientific. When I tried to install MS Office 365 on the laptop, it
installed apparently OK, but none of the programs would run. I talked with
an accessibility tech at Microsoft, and, although she seemed rather clueless
and unhelpful at times, she told me that there was a known incompatibility
between Abby and Office 365. After I uninstalled Abby and reinstalled
Office 365, all its components ran well.

I hope that this will help some one.

All the best,

Subject: OCR Programs

I've just purchased a scanner and am looking for a good OCR program that
works well with JAWS? It's been a while since I've had a scanner and I'm
curious as to what people are using these days.

Thanks.

Dan

Re: excel question

This works very well. If you want to adjust several columns at one
time just select all the columns then alt+h then o then i.

Alt + H + O + I automatically adjusts the collum width and alt + H + O + W
lets you adjust manually.

May I add my own question to this thread please?
With jaws how do you tell if data/text hasn't fully fitted in a box? and I
used to know this with previous versions, how do you make the boxes bigger
in order to fit the data/text in?

Many thanks

Go to the row below where you want to insert the line. Press Control+ the
plus key. Arrow down to Insert entire row and press enter. There are
other
ways to do this, but this is the one I find to be the fastest and
easiest,
and it works in every version of Excel I've encountered going back as far
as
versions for Windows 3x.

Subject: excel question

Hello all,

I know this question has been addressed before, but didn't need to know
at that time.

I am needing to add a row in an excel document that has already been
created. I am using jaws version 16 and office 2010. Your assistance on
keystroke for inserting a line in this document would be appreciated.

Re: OCR Programs

Ariel

I use Abby Finereader. I scan the documents into word documents. It works pretty good for me.

I use eye pal. Presta D do you import a PDF and it reads it very quickly.
