Heya folks,

For ages now using Jaws 15 and now latest Jaws 16 on a windows 7 64bit PC and Outlook 2010 75% of the time when I use spell check in Outlook 2010 Jaws loses speech when I just tab past the first couple of options e.g language, ignore etc. Speech seems to freeze on the Outlook program itself till I do a windows M key and return to the desktop. Does anybody else have this issue?
Is it fixed in Jaws 16 as didnt seem to be fixed in any of the 15 updates.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Jim

That's always been the case for me going back many versions of Jaws. I
always report it to FS and especially during the beta cycles, but alas, it's

Hi,
Yes, I am using W7 64 bit, JAWS 14, Office 2007 and have had this problem
since JAWS 11 upon occasion.
Sometimes JAWS just seems to wander off into lala land and, eventually, will
return - sorta. (LOLLOL)
I thought it was Outlook which was the problem though.

Re: Copying tables

Dave...

Marianne,

Looks to me like it keeps the source formatting to some extent. If pasting
to Excel, you may get some blank columns due to extra tabs, but that's easy
to remedy.

If pasting to Notepad or other text, it appears you get spaces in place of
tabs.

Give it a try yourself with tables and pasting to various applications, and
you'll get the idea.

I'm very impressed with this capability that's existed for a long time with
JAWS. I just never remembered to use it. My thanks to the poster who
originally brought it to our attention.

Is shift f10 an option or are there issues with the function keys as well? I
understand with some of these smaller units you have to be alert as to
whether you'll be able to do the jaws key strokes that require function

One thing to keep in mind about laptop/netbook size is the smaller you go
the more messed up the keyboard has to become. I would love a smaller
laptop but for what I do a full sized keyboard is pretty much a necessity.
For instance the laptop I have now does not have a context menu key which I
find really annoying (I remapped the print screen key to do that but it's
still very annoying),. If I use the touch pad gesture (this laptop does not
have traditional mouse button keys either) for right click it does it where
the mouse happens to be, not where keyboard focus is. I suppose I could do
the route jaws to PC combo first but I suspect I would find that even more
annoying than using the re-mapped print screen.

I uninstalled programs from my drive that I no longer use, including older

drive was not completely full, but apparently it was full enough to cause
disruption with the Jaws 16 installation. The only Jaws 16 component not
installed was the OCR feature. I work in state government, and my tech
support person was the one to hit on the problem. Once I removed several
programs I was no longer using, all was fine. Oh, BTW, we did clean out
data in cache and temporary folders, too. I had a huge amount of data in
GPS maps from over the past several years. Some of the data I removed
manually. For others, I used the drive clean feature in the properties for
my drive. So, the drive clean-up focused on both programs and data. Hope
this additional info helps.

I had the same problem, and the solution was to delete programs from my hard

Copying tables

Lauren

Hi all:
Is there a way to copy any table and a fillable PDF file to another document?
Instead of typing it all out again?
I am using jaws 14 and Windows 7.

Sincerely,

Lauren Snyder, Ph.D.

Re: OCR component not installed?

Marks, Jim

I uninstalled programs from my drive that I no longer use, including older versions of Jaws. I used the Windows 7 Add/Remove Programs utility. My drive was not completely full, but apparently it was full enough to cause disruption with the Jaws 16 installation. The only Jaws 16 component not installed was the OCR feature. I work in state government, and my tech support person was the one to hit on the problem. Once I removed several programs I was no longer using, all was fine. Oh, BTW, we did clean out data in cache and temporary folders, too. I had a huge amount of data in GPS maps from over the past several years. Some of the data I removed manually. For others, I used the drive clean feature in the properties for my drive. So, the drive clean-up focused on both programs and data. Hope this additional info helps.

Jim, can you elaborate abit to as what you actually had to uninstall, and was it via the programs and features applet or using something else? just curious.

I had the same problem, and the solution was to delete programs from my hard drive. The drive was too full so there wasn't enough room to install everything. Once I cleaned up the drive, Jaws 16 installed nicely.

Hello, when trying to use the document mode for the quick OCR, Jaws 16 says the component isn't installed. Should I go somewhere or do something to complete the installation?
Thanks,
Matthew

Re: How is Windows 10 so far?

I think you have faced this problem due to mirror display driver not
installed. Try installing the same from JAWS 15 setup and try again. I
came across this situation in Win 8.1.

The mirror display does not install on the latest Windows 10 tech preview
build. I have tried reinstalling and repairing jaws 16 64bit and no luck. I
am also unable to navigate the start menu on this build like the previous
builds. The start menu interface uhas changed. However, NVDA does work. I
was actually lucky that some of the things work since our version of jaws
does not support windows 10.
