can anyone provide me a link to download a free version (non-trial one)?

Subject: Trouble with "say all"

I was testing out the "say all" command, and I am confused by the
behavior. Sometimes "say all" only seems to say the current line or
section, when I would expect it to always start from the top of the page.

Test case:

1) start JAWS
2) Start IE 11, and go to
http://www.freedomscientific.com/Training/Surfs-Up/Table_Reading_Commands.htm
3) Let JAWS read a little bit, and then hit Esc.
4) Hit insert + down arrow (say all). JAWS starts reading from the first
paragraph, skipping the heading.
5) Hold down right arrow long enough to fast forward to the end of the page.
6) Hit insert + down arrow (say all) again. JAWS only reads the last line
of the page.

What does "say all" mean if it "all" doesn't mean the whole page?

Thanks,
--Paul

Hi,

You can't do anything in the design view window, but the appearance of
the controls can be adjusted via the code editor window.

The code editor and design view are connected with each other. If you
make any modifications in any one of them, its effect is seen in other
side as well.

Re: Print to a file

Tom Lange

Hi Bill,
I'm not sure if that option is present in all Print dialogs, but it is available in Word 2010; when you do a ctrl+p and the dialog comes up, tab to the "print to file" checkbox, hit the spacebar, then activate the Print button. That's my recollection, anyway. Btw, when I did this recently, then examined the resulting file, it was not plain text as I expected.

Hope this helps.

How do I print to a file with JAWS?

Someone talked about this some time ago, but I can't find where that option is.

Can someone e-mail me the steps?

Thank you.

No more, it seems.

Now, the only way a link is ready to be clicked is when I tab to it, or use

FW: Update to itunes 12

James Malone

Hi all, I emailed John concerning the problem with ITunes 12. He asked me to
pass this on for those having problems with their version. I haven't updated
on one system, but updated on my windows 8.1 machine.

Hi John, there's been quite a buz on about Jaws not working any more with
the latest version of Itunes. Are you going to have a fix for this latest
update?

Best:

James

Expected screen-reading behavior for a combobox?

Paul Lynch <plynchnlm@...>

On the combobox widget on this page:

http://test.cita.illinois.edu/aria/combobox/combobox2.php#lsc

there is an input field into which you can type, and as you type it updates
a list of matching items below the field. This widget is marked up with
ARIA so that it supposedly works with programs like JAWS.

When I try to use JAWS (version 16, with IE 11) on it, and tab to the
field, I hear "State edit contains text type in text." ("State" is the
field label.) I am not told there is a list associated with the field.
When I activate the list and the list shows, the list is not read, though
when I use the arrow keys, each item I go to with the arrow keys is read.

So, several questions:

1) Shouldn't a screen reader be announcing that the combobox has a list?
2) Should the screen reader read all the list items when they appear on the
screen?
3) Is there another page which works better with JAWS? (I am particularly
interested in this kind of widget, where there is an input field, and a
list of matching options that appears.)

Thanks,

--Paul

Re: latest version of Jaws?

Bill White <billwhite92701@...>

Hi, I'm not Dave. But may I submit the following.

How to creat a shortcut to kill JAWS:

1. Have your focus on the desktop first. Then press the application key to open the context menue that you get when you right click on the desktop. Optionally use the right mouse button, assigned to the *key of your computer's keyboard to get here.

2. Find the "new" menue item. Once you are there, find new shortcut list item. Then press enter. In the edit field you get in the wizard that follows enter the following:

%windir%\system32\taskkill.exe /f /im jfw.exe

Name your shortcut and click "Finish". This should make your shortcut to kill JAWS.

Ted,

However, it will still "disappear" occasionally during other simple
operations like switching from one window to another, or one application to
another. Have not yet had it happen often enough to pin it down. When it
does happen, JAWS does not automatically restart like it used to do. I must
either blindly hit my "kill JAWS desktop shortcut and hear a ding, or use
NVDA to get to the shortcut and do the same.

Then I can restart JAWS 16.

Using the latest version, Win 7, 32-bit.

Hi folks! I'm asking this question on behalf of a colleague of mine who is having difficulty with JAWS accessible PDF files. From what he says, when he makes the PDF file accessible for JAWS users, the text disappears for sighted viewers. In other words, no one besides JAWS users can read the contents of the PDF file. Has anyone encountered this error, and if so, how did you resolve it?
