Jaws problem accessing flash on a webpage and Firefox

Cristóbal

Hello list,

There’s this guitar learning site I go to to pick up new pieces. I’ve
usually access it through IE (latest version) and have had no issue
accessing the flash content. However, when I visit the same page in Firefox,
I cannot for the life of me locate the flash to start playing the video. My
Flash is updated to the most recent release for both browsers. My sighted
wife has taken a look at the screen and says that there are no alerts or
notices of something being blocked or that is in need of enabling. I’ve also
disabled any flash blocker extensions in Firefox, but still no go. She can
innitiate playback and pause and so on without any problems.

Can anyone else take a crack at this and see if they can access the flash
section? I’m going to provide a link to a random lesson. Not a particular
one, but I tried playing it earlier and had no luck doing so.

http://www.flamencoclassguitar.com/video.html?v=om7oi7n1M7nfK

This site is by default in Spanish, but they do offer an English language
version. A link to a random lesson in English:
http://www.flamencoclassguitar.com/en/video.html?v=VI9X517Raop5j

This person also has a YouTube channel to which I am also subscribed and
while I can access the same lessons with YouTube, I find it easier to locate
the piece I want to learn on his site and then from within the flash choose
to play it in YouTube instead of dealing with YouTube’s cluttered page from
the start.

I’m running the latest JFW 16 and my flash recognition is enabled.

Thanks,

Hi All,

I was just using the accessible YouTube site, and am now seeing the following message:

“You need Flash player 8+ and JavaScript enabled to view this video.”

I thought my Alternative Flash Update software would automatically cover the Flash part, but apparently I need something more. Also, I have no idea how to activate the Java it wants; I thought I was also set up already for that, but apparently not.

Any folks out there who can guide me on getting the above in place? I am using JAWS 16, Windows 7 32 bit.

Thanks in advance,
Tim Ford

Hi all,

I am working with a student who has a laptop running Windows 8.1, Jaws 16 and Outlook 2013.

We are running into an issue where, when arrowing through the list of messages in the inbox, Jaws announces that messages have attachments when, in fact, they don’t have any attachments.

Is this a known issue, and, if so, is there a way to fix it?

Thanks for any ideas.

Subject: a windows 8.1 question

Hello everyone,

I am a JAWS 16 user and having a problem in internet explorer 11. For some
reason, the web pages are displaying very small images. My sighted husband
finds difficult to see whata is on the page. He is not computer savy, and I
can see just enough to know that things just do not look right. I have gone
through several things, like-display, brightness, etc. and now have gotten
the icons on the desktop very large, which is not necessary. I do not know
where or what to do to change settings to display normally. If anyone can
advise, I would greatly appreciate this.

Thanks,

Barbara H.

display driver problems?

Tasha Raella Chemel <tasha.chemel@...>

Hi, I'm running jaws 16 on my new macbook air, using bootcamp. I have
Windows 8.1. I know this isn't a supported configuration, but from doing
some Googling, it seems as though others have done this successfully. I'm
having problems that feel suspiciously similar to problems I used to have
running Windows Xp, when the screen resolution was set incorrectly. For
instance, when I enter the Control Panel, all I can access is the search
box, not the list of items. Often, when I encounter a list or combo box, I
have to manually open it to get it to read. When in Outlook 2013, and
replying to a message, I can't arrow through what I have written, though
this might be an unrelated Outlook 2013 issue. When I updated from Windows 8
to Windows 8.1, I did get a message that there was a problem with the mirror
display drivers, so I did a repair on JAWS, but that didn't seem to help.
Has anyone else encountered this before? Are there particular settings in
Windows 8.1 that I should change?
Thanks,
Tasha

Follow this location:

Note: By default AppData directory is not visible. You need to unhide

The way this began for you, it doesn't sound like a security setting is involved.

I don't know which email program you're using. For a long time in Outlook, I had to go to the second character in a link to make it open. So, with one that began http..., I would right-arrow once to the first t, then press enter to execute the link. You might try that. Does it make sense? No, but the list member who long ago suggested it saved me a boat-load of grief because it was the only solution that worked.

I am using JAWS 16.

Re: Need help with a JAWS mirror display driver issue.

Mr. Vinay

you should update your display driver for this problem

Re: Need help with a JAWS mirror display driver issue.

Tom Lange

Hi,
I've seen this at least a couple of times, and although I was asked on both occasions to run a JAWS repair, it turns out that there is a Windows component that is the root cause of the problem. Unfortunately the name of the component escapes me at the moment, but if I find my notes about it, I'll definitely get back to you. If that component isn't properly updated during the Windows Update process, you could end up with a mirror driver issue. The solution is to make sure that all of the latest Windows Updates are properly installed, so definitely do that and make sure everything's up to snuff. Then run another JAWS repair and that should fix it. If you should contact FS tech support again, tell them that you heard about a faulty Windows update contributing to the problem and perhaps that will ring a bell with somebody over there and they can give you the low-down. Hope this helps.

Tom

Hi,

The similar issued I faced when I attempted to install JAWS 16. In my

When I received this error in JAWS 16, I executed JAWS 15 setup and

necessary components are installed which the JAWS 16 failed to
install.

I recommend you to try this.
