Re: Where can I find account settings in Outlook

Tony Schnurr

To get to your account settings try the following:
Hit alt-f then down arrow until you hear "info tab".
At this point, you should be able to tab through the various options available for account settings.

Re: Pandora

Charles Krugman

Pandora is only marginally accessible with JAWS. I am using version 16 and while there has been some improvement since earlier versions there are things you can't do with it. There is the Hope program which I will have to find the link for that you can download which greatly improves the accessibility of Pandora. Pandora doesn't seem to be very intent on improving their accessibility based on my past contacts with them.

Passing along to the rest of the group.
Hope makes Pandora more accessible with Jaws, using different keystrokes for
controlling the player (play/pause, stop, fast forward, rewind, track
position, next or previous track, volume), as well as finding information
about currently playing artist, song, album, genre, etc. Use the search
function to search for an artist or song, then choose from a list of
stations playing your chosen entry or similar artists.

I didn't mean to imply that Amazon's customer service agents are not helpful. They are, in fact, very helpful when it comes to adjusting problems with your order. But if you tell them that their web site is not very accessible to blind customers, they will simply promise to pass this information on to the "appropriate party". But in the end, nothing changes.

This is not my experience. I'm guessing you encountered this with just one customer rep. when something like this happens, ask politely to speak to the supervisor. Or call back and get a more receptive person. Although Amazon's website has several inherent frustrations, its people are generally pretty helpful, and better than the norm.

Unfortunately, you cannot place orders by phone with Amazon. As I have
discovered, you have to place the order online and then call Amazon customer
service at 866-216-1072 once you have received your email order confirmation
and have them adjust your order to reflect the correct size. I have
complained to Amazon about the poor accessibility of their web site for
blind customers, but they don't seem to give a rat's ass.

Kimsan, if you're on Amazon, I encountered this problem several months
ago. I think the solution involved a ridiculous amount of trial-and-error,
ultimately leaving me uncertain until I placed the order and quickly
checked my account before the 30-minute cancellation window expired.

You might consider giving up and doing the transaction via phone, if
that's an option for you. In the process, you can complain on behalf of
all of us who fear for the safety of our computer's monitors when
frustration reaches a certain level.

Re: **update )selecting a size using jfw

Kimsan <kimsansong@...>

Hahaha, so, apparently I selected the size but I have one problem.
I'm not sure which screen reader did the trick.
I did left mouse clicks for NVDA, JFW and WindowEyes.
I just remember after all three were used, I signed into the shopping
account in question, scrolled down the page and it said one item in cart, I
viewed the item and it said the size.
Well, now that I think aboot it, I believe window eyes did the trick, jaws
didn't work a few hours ago, NVDA didn't a few seconds ago, so I just assume
it was window eyes.
Or maybe I just went insane because of the website accessibility issues.

I didn't have all of them running, by the way.

Hi Ted,
So long as you do not need adaptive software they really do pretty good 99%
of the time.
When you require JAWS, Magic or some other piece of software to reador
magnify the screen it all kinda goes down the tubes.
This is also very true with many other web sites.

NFB says blindness is merely an inconvenience. I say blindness is a pain in
the anatomy, especially when it comes to accessibility.
As someone said about Amazon, sometimes you enter on what doesn't seem to be
a combo box and it takes, sometimes not.

Hey Kim.

I just looked up this which you might find useful....

To quickly locate a specific form control press INSERT+F5. This
command lists all form controls and their contents on the current
page. Move through the list and press ENTER to move to the selected
control. Forms mode is automatically enabled so you are ready to make
changes to the control. And if you have already entered information in
a long form, use the Forms List to quickly review the information.

This page has more details and other info that might help. Let us all
know if you get it to work and how...it seems to be a problem we all run
into...

In the process, you can complain on behalf
of all of us who fear for the safety of our computer's monitors when
frustration reaches a certain level.

Amazon's phone is 866-216-1072.

I'm on this shop site, it says select a size, s, m l. No combobox.

I've done spacebar, enter, left mouse click, but it doesn't appear to
work.Suggestions?
