Re: accessible screen sharing program
Paul Martz <skewmatrix@...>
Ditto on Team Viewer as an accessible screen sharing tool.
I do remote training with visually impaired clients. I use JAWS tandem with Skype or a telephone for audio. For my clients who don't use JAWS (they use Guide or whatever), I use Team Viewer, which has audio built into it. Both solutions allow me to view their desktop (I'm partially sighted) and control their computer. Skype alone lets you share a desktop. It's also supposed to let you send files back and forth, but I've had limited success with that. I understand there are JAWS scripts for Skype, but haven't used them personally. Unmodified, Skype's accessibility is rather limited. -Paul

Subject: Very anoying Outlook 2010 issue Hi, all. Today, I once again experienced a very annoying Outlook 2010 issue, that I keep forgetting to ask about. If I am writing an e-mail, and find the need to leave my computer before sending the message, I often like to save my message in the drafts folder. My usual way of doing this is to hit the escape key, at which time I will be asked whether I want the message to be saved. Of course, I respond by answering "yes", thinking that all should be well. Today, as has happened in at least several other instances, when I do this, I look for the supposedly saved message in my drafts folder, and it is not there. I check both my local drafts folder, and the drafts folder under my expanded outlook folders. This afternoon, when it happened again, I even checked my drafts folder on the g-mail web site, under my personal g-mail account, and it was not there either. What makes this especially annoying is that I did not have this problem a month or so ago. I'm wondering if something has been updated so as to make this saving function less easy to perform? Any help with this issue would be appreciated. Dr. Tom Behler from Michigan -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Garage Band for PC users
Jennifer Nickols <jnpenguin@...>
Hi All,
After googling the accessibility of garage band for PC users with JAWS, I stumbled upon a few posts from this list dated September 2013, leading me to join your group. It was suggested that Band In A Box may be the next best thing for PC users as it had been scripted up to the 2013 version, however, as a year has now passed, I am wondering if anyone can tell me whether Garage Band has been made more accessible for JAWS users? I still struggle with iTunes, so I am not holding my breath, but I would really love to find a programme similar to Garage Band which I can use with JAWS 15. If there are other programmes out which have been scripted for JAWS, I would very much appreciate any suggestions I do apologise if this has been discussed recently, but would appreciate any help. That you are having the problems you mention is discouraging
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
indeed. On this list, several months back, I asked almost exactly the same question, albeit for Windows 7, an earlier version of JAWS (the then current version), and Excel 2010. The nearly unanimous view was that the JAWS instructions worked fine in Excel 2003, but would not work in Excel 2010. We were told that Freedom Scientific was aware of the problem. That you are encountering almost identical problems in a newer operating system, in a newer version of Excel, and with a newer version of JAWS is less than inspiring. Excel is a crucial mainstream application, and the function you have described, naming column headers, is vital. Freedom Scientific has known about this problem for way longer than it should have taken to fix it. Very discouraging.

On Windows 7 you look for speakers on system tray, enter then enter again on volume mixer. There you will find all volume controls by tabbing. Volume is changed with arrows. However it won't do you any good if your stream is already louder than JAWS unless you can pause it.
