HI guys
Jaws in Spanish only has four or five ResearchIt options which are the
Wictionary, Europe Press News, the Weather, Money Converter, Wikipedia,
and you guys with Jaws English have a bunch! from Bookshare, to Time
zone etc., from listening to FS's ResearchIt audio tutorial! thus i
wonder, is there a way I could install the ResearchIt modules for
Bookshare, and TimeZone, without having to go through the hassel and
install Jaws in English?

hello;
no no no no, no need to press enter,

this just places you into the list of messages for that particular folder.
if your wanting to delete a folder,

you need to place yourself into the folder view,

so, from the inbox, do a shift tab,
now you can lettter navigate to the folder you wish to delete, you can press
the applications key, or shift f10, up arrow and enter on delete, or? you
could use the delete key.

note, these instructions assume you have the folders all on the same level,
and not have the folders inside the inbox.

The only problem I 've had doing this is that I tend to drop the keyboard at

I get the audio through my hearing aids and can hear the computer anywhere

Crystal,

As you probably know, FS is now making a distinction between JAWS bought for
individuals versus JAWS bought for office settings. It doesn't matter if
your individual computer, such as a laptop, is used for work purposes. FS is
making a distinction between use on a single system as opposed to use in a
work or school setting.

Because I had the old Pro version and my license will continue at that level
until I renew, my copy of JAWS 16 says "JAWS Professional." However, I work
on my own, so the next I renew, I'll be purchasing a so-called "Home "
license, when I'll get the same verbalization that you now get.

All that said, I don't know why FS felt compelled to add these extra words,
but this is the background they reflect.

Jaws Incorrect Version InstalationMystery Solved

Tom Behler

Hi, everyone.

You may remember that last week, Jaws 13 inadvertently got installed on my
new work laptop, instead of Jaws 16, which I thought would be directly
installed from the Jaws 16 CD.

It turns out that the fault was on this end, not with Freedom Scientific.

Here's my analysis of what happened and why:

Yesterday, I was nosing around on the desktop of my new work laptop, and
found an executable file for Jaws 13. It was called j13.0.92 4 64 bit. I
checked the file properties, and the file was dated Monday: December 15 and
was time stamped at 10:09 a.m. This is significant, because this was the
time when the University's I T people were in my office, and had transferred
a bunch of stuff from the hard drive of my old Windows 7 desktop to the new
work laptop.

I think that what happened was this: Since I had no visual assistance
available when it came time to install Jaws 16, I used Windows narrator to
find what I thought was the Jaws 16 instalation package on the Jaws 16 CD,
and somehow ended up inadvertently choosing the Jaws 13 executable file.

Apparently, I'm not very good at using Windows Narrator in situations like
this, although I do find Narrator to not be as verbose as I would like. In
addition, it also would have been nice to have visual assistance around, so
that I wouldn't have had to use Windows Narrator to begin with, and could
have gotten the correct file right from the new CD.

The really frustrating part of all of this is that, even though I
uninstalled Jaws 13 from the new laptop, and installed Jaws 16, something
got corrupted with the install, and I had to spend quite a bit of time late
last week with FS Tech support to do a major Jaws repair.

All and all, though, I think I'm now ok, and will certainly keep this in
mind for the future. I also have sent a rather strongly-worded e-mail to
our IT folks, stressing the need for visual assistance with new adaptive
technology instalations, and also stressing the need for IT people to let us
know what files they are transferring onto any new computer that we might
use.

In closing, I want to sincerely thank the folks at Freedom Scientific for
all of their help in working through this issue. A number of people clearly
went above and beyond the call of duty to help me figure out what was going
on, and that has been truly appreciated.

Dr. Tom Behler from Michigan

Subject: simple question Jaws 16

Hi,
I have finally installed Jaws 16.

Sorry for a simple question, but why does it now say Jaws for Home Use?

I know I have the home edition, of course, but it seems like extra verbage,
that’s all.

Crystal

Re: jaws.exe disappears?

Brad, I would ask your administrators there if they have made a change to
your group policy that governs the domain that your computer runs on. I had
a similar situation come up at a job site recently. It could very well be
that they've made some policy changes that cause the shortcuts to not work
properly.

Update to my own posting: I came into work this morning, turned on my
computer, and heard the usual, "JAWS for Windows. Press Control Alt Delete
to Log On" (we're on a domain here.) Clearly JAWS was still on my machine
at that point. I logged in fine, but when my desktop came up, there was no
JAWS. Ran the JAWS shortcut, and got this same message that the item the
shortcut refers to has been changed or moved. So again, JFW.EXE just
disappeared. Ran System Restore, got the same error that Restore failed and
no changes were made, but JAWS was back.

Am I the only one having this problem? JFW 15 with latest update, Windows
7 Pro 64-bit.

Brad

Windows 7 64-bit, JAWS15, latest update.

I left the house yesterday, so I shut down my computer. All was
working when I left.

Came home tonight, started up my computer, and JAWS would not talk.
Tried restarting a couple of times. No JAWS. Put in a flash drive I
have with NVDA, and got it to talk to me. Tried to start JAWS from the
desktop shortcut; got the message the file had been changed or moved
and the shortcut would no longer work. Explored to c:\program
files\Freedom Scientific\JAWS\15.0 and found that, indeed, there was
no jfw.exe

I always run my machine with a standard account, so there's no way I
could've deleted the program file.

Logged on as admin with the same results. Tried to reinstall the
program and got the message that I needed to reconfigure using
Programs & Features because another version was already installed.
Thought I'd try a system restore. Ran restore to December 17. Got the
message that Restore failed and no changes were made to my system, but
JAWS came back and is working fine now. Went back to the above
referenced path, and indeed, JFW.exe is now there once again.

Do huh?!?!?! What just happened? Anybody else had this experience?
