Re: Accessible method of converting Kindle book?

Adrian Spratt

Thanks for posting this useful information, but it leaves a question. If this Kindle comes with its own two voices, why is JAWS needed? Or put another way, are you saying we can ignore Amazon's voices and work just with JAWS? That's what I'd want.

Yes there is a Kindle version with built in JAWS accessibility. It's called
Kindle_for_PC with JAWS screenreader plug-in already installed in it.
JAWS works pretty well with it. Call Amazon Cust Support and ask for the
Kindle_for_PC with JAWS screenreader plug-in download. They will assist
with getting everything onto your computer and stay with you until you get
it up and running.

Be ware the Kindle speech synthesizer has only two voices, Male and female.
Neither is very good and understanding what is written sometimes takes a
little time. But overall it does work fairly well with JAWS.

gave up. Perhaps I'll give it a try once again.

Sounds like you're hearing the special characters being reported via their

Hi,
Is this heard when reading math/ It shouldn't do that - double prime is
usually written as two single quites ('') after a variable, indicating a
second derivative( from calculus, but no need to worry about that).
Chjeers,
Joseph

I believe the single/double/triple prime is a symbol, not sure how to right
it.

Does anyone know what this double prime means? Seems like I hear it when
jaws reads a number. To iliminate this announcement, I am thinking I must
type in double prime in the dictionary?

Guerra Access Technology Training <gaccesstt@...>

Why doesn't the client provide you the incoming and outgoing server
addresses for you to connect your Outlook with it.

Also, wondering if the company uses Outlook.com as well as an alternative as
it is relatively straight forward in its use.

Subject: Accessing Outlook server via the web

All,

A client of mine wishes me to access their company email system when I am at
home via their web based email. Within the company they use Microsoft
Outlook. Via the web, they use Outlook/Ofice365.

I am finding that using Jaws with these web pages is a bit challenging for
me. Does anyone have any advice about this? Is there any tips and tricks
page on the internet?

Many thanks,
Tom Shults

What about support@freedomscientific.com? I've sent a few things their way.

What’s the best way to report Jaws problems to FS? Under the Contact link, I found the following:

Quality Department
Freedom Scientific welcomes any suggestions you have that will help improve our products and provide better service. Please note, however, that we are not able to respond if you do not provide a valid email address.

Once you submit this form, your request will be reviewed by the responsible parties. Please be sure to include as much information as possible.

When I follow that link, there is a general web form with a few combo boxes and an edit field for detail. Is that the most appropriate method for reporting problems?

I admit I haven’t spent much time exploring their new website.

I always call them. Usually I use my cell phone. Their number is 727-803-8600, option 2.

Well, not so fast.

This requires more research. Good in concept poor in execution. Doesn't
look like it in fact allows you to function independently other than the
naming convention.hmmmm.
