Hi, if you are going to stay with Windows 7 for a while remember that Office
2003 will run on it.
I was really bummed out when I thought I had to go to office 2007 because
Outlook was not available until you purchased the high priced version.
Had I known that 2003 would run on 7 I would have stayed with it as I have a
Student Edition with everything I use on it and I can put it on more than
one computer.

Jeff,

You are correct there is no Outlook Express for Windows 7, or 8. Microsoft
does not support Outlook Express after Windows XP. I did not like the idea
of changing to Outlook either but once you get used to it then you hardly
notice any difference!

Actually I've found that Jaws works better with Outlook than Outlook
Express, and the spell checker problems OE has don't happen in Outlook. Note
however that Outlook doesn't have Usenet support if that's important to you.

I use Lime Aloud and find it quite accessible with Jaws. There's a user guide in the sub menu that is a must read. After that, it's mostly experimentation. You have to know a great deal about reading and writing music to use it, and there's a bit of a learning curve.

I have upgraded my windows to windows 7. I have installed outlook express for windows 7. I still have a couple of problems with outlook express. the two problems are not being able to open hyper links that are included in my e-mails and having to use my password each time I send or receive e-mail. Some have suggested I change to Microsoft outlook. I would like to know how accessible outlook is and whether I will be able to use it work with my e-mail service. Any suggestions, or help will be appreciated.

As I read this thread, I noticed that someone said that there was less
functionality in JAWS home use edition. My understanding is that this is not
correct. Both versions have the same functionality. One is for commercial
use and one is not. That's the only difference according to what I've heard
on several programs and podcasts I have listened to. You can even now buy
remote desktop for home use edition. I'd be curious as to where the person
heard that there was less functionality in home use edition because I
haven't heard that anywhere.

This is cheaper for SMA and purchase price according to FS.

FS changed the licensing for JAWS. From what I understand of the new
arrangement, people with JAWS Home Edition can now use the program on
many different flavors of Windows. It used to be this license could
only be used on the lowest windows license tiers, typically called
home. Now, the home users will have certain functions of JAWS
disabled and licensing provisions are more restrictive. JAWS
Professional will continue to offer all features of JAWS, work on all
versions of Windows, and offer the least restrictive licensing
arrangement.

Re: Looking for accessible DVD player for jaws !!

VLC is not half bad. If it ever delivers the promised Blu-Ray support, it'll rank as outstanding. It doesn't seem to have a resume option, but the menu system is elegant and simple. PowerDVD is better than it looks, if you read the help screens, especially on DVD's; with Blu-Ray, though, it's mouse click or bust. It could use a little more audio gain too.
