Hi Brad and Others!

Thank you, Brad, for the Microsoft link. I downloaded IE 10 and saved it.

When I try to run it, I get the following error message:

Windows Internet Explorer 10

[Main Instruction]
Operating System is not supported

[Content]
Internet Explorer 10 can only be installed on Windows 7 Service Pack 1 or higher.

[OK]

What do I do next?

Becky,

I'm not sure I'd try Internet Explorer 11, and besides I'm not a huge fan of 11 anyway. At work I have JFW 15, and I asked our IT folks to leave me with 10 and I have much better luck. I should think 10 would work with JFW 13 without a problem. Use this link, but be careful; there will be two radio buttons, and you'll need to choose to download Internet Explorer 10. By default, it's set to download the latest version, so change it before hitting "next." Here's the link:

Hope that helps,

Try resetting the Internet explorer settings.doing the following will not lose your favorites.
Access the menu bar, go to tools, there'll down to Internet optionsthen press control tab until you get to the advanced tab, then tap to reset… Then press enter follow the prompts.
If that doesn't resolve the problem, you can always go back to Internet Explorer by going to programs and features then pressing shift tab to Windows update then press enter then you can Errol through the list and uncheck Internet Explorer 11. This will take you back to Internet Explorer 10.
Hope that helps,

Hi All,

Apologies for the off topic question, but googling hasn't given me the
answer I'm looking for.

When I download a file in internet explorer, I am able to see the
"save as" option that should allow me to point to a target folder
other than downloads. However, I can't figure out how to actually
point to another folder. Jaws seems to have issues reading the folder
names in the save as dialogue. Am I missing something, or is there an
easier way of accomplishing this. I hate having all my files dumped
into a single folder and would really like to know how to make it
otherwise.

Thanks in advance.

Re: firefox with jaws 11

Paul Martz <skewmatrix@...>

For what it's worth, I'm using 32.03, and it works quite well with JAWS. I
also have IE 11 and some version of Google Chrome installed on my computer,
and Firefox beats all three when it comes to compatibility with JAWS.

That being said, I still have some issues with viewing those oddball Google
web pages, but I can usually find workarounds. Internet Explorer doesn't
work at all with Google web pages, and Chrome has issues with JAWS, so
Firefox seems to be a good middle ground.

Re: firefox with jaws 11

Brad Martin

I'm not sure it matters with Firefox. I used to use late versions with JAWS 10 and didn't have any trouble, except that my computer was an old clunker. Generally they come out with versions of Firefox very frequently, so for security reasons, staying current is important. My mother started having some problems with hijacking ads until she got to the latest version, which I think is 32.02. Oh wait, I just checked, and I've been upgraded to 32.0.3. If you're smart, you'll go ahead and install the maintenance service when prompted, because it really keeps the program up-to-date with no interaction required from you. As a final note, you mentioned IE 8. If you are running XP, you should run, not walk, to switch to Firefox. XP hasn't been supported for several months, which means IE 8 has not been updated in that long, so it's just a matter of time before something gets in. I've seen it happen with Firefox on XP, so I'm sure it's worth on an old outdated IE.

With jaws it has something that is called ocr where it will read the text
that is within the image but it will not read the image.

Re: Reading screen shots with JAWS.

It's possible I think to read pdf's with jaws by using the jaws ocr
function.
That key combination is insert plus space bar then the letter o which will
take you into ocr mode, then it's a choice of p for page, s for screen and d
for document. I'm not sure if I have that correct but it's close lol

Subject: Re: Reading screen shots with JAWS.

You might try the ocr function Insert+space then o. I haven't found much use
for this function, but it sounds taylor made for reading a screen shot.

I have read screen shots using Kurzweil, and that worked out pretty well.

Hope this helps.

Hi folks! Is there any way for JAWS to read the contents of a screenshot
that is attached to a document?
