Re: JAWS and Word 2007
Ann Byrne
In quick settings, insert+v, there is a setting that says new line and paragraph markers. If that is on, turn it off. If the problem is with Word, press alt+h, then 8, and that should fix it.

Reading Tool Tips
Dan Kerstetter <dhk55@...>
Hello all.
From time to time I get a message that tells me a program is running that isincompatible with windows. I'm told it is a tool tip and to click here for more information. Using the latest version of JAWS is there a way to do this? I've tried using the command search in JAWS 16 and searching through the keyboard command help. Any information would be appreciated. JAWS, Win 8.1, and Dell Venue 8 Pro 32 GB
Loreal Lavigna <Llavigna2@...>
Hi guys,
Just got a Dell Venue 8 pro 32 GB tablet with Win 8.1 full installed. Trying to learn the best way to interact with the apps on this tablet. Can anyone give me a hand with a couple things??? First off, the mail client. Any tips, tricks, hints, etc. for navigating and quickly changing settings in this app? Second, the Facebook app. Same here, but it seems to be all tab navigation or by way of the touch gestures. Right??? Next, has anyone had any success with the Netflix app, Audible app for audible.com's audiobooks, etc? Finally, does anyone have even a beginning list of apps that work well with JFW 15/16 beta and Win 8.1? Thanks in advance!!! Re: jaws 15 and windows live mail
Charles Krugman
You can change this by customizing the columns that are read in Windows Live mail. I am going from memory but as I recall it is a feature under the "View" tab. If no one else has the answer and you are still having problems let me know.

The following applies to JAWS 16, which is now in Public Beta. With this new release, we’ve changed the JAWS Standard license to become JAWS Home Edition. This new Home Edition license works with both Home and Professional editions of Windows® 7 and Windows 8, making it more affordable for end users to maintain their licenses on their personal computers at home. Visit our JAWS Public Beta page for details. Gary King w4wkz@bellsouth.net

The bigger decision you need to make, if you're going to get Windows 7, is going to depend on your version of JAWS. If you have JAWS standard, you'll need Windows 7 Home Premium, which is getting harder to find; and the end of sales date for computers preinstalled with Windows 7 Home Premium is October 31, 2014. That's about a month away. If, on the other hand, you have JAWS Professional, you have the option of running Windows 7 Professional; the features that differ between the two probably won't affect you much, but the advantage is that the end of sales date for Win 7 Pro has not been established yet, and there are many many many business class computers (laptop or desktop) that run Windows 7 Pro. To your original question about the all-in-ones, I haven't used them myself, but my sense from the specifications on them is that most come with slightly slower processors than their full sized tower counterparts, and many (though not all) come with touchscreens. The processors seem to be closer to desktop processors than laptop processors. If you've never had a laptop before, the keyboard is a bit different in some senses, and laptop keyboards can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, and even from size to size. 15.6 inch laptops today often come with a numeric keypad, while 14 inch laptops usually do not. Some laptops, like Lenovo Thinkpads, don't have an "applications key", so you have to use Shift F10 for that effect. I've learned to adjust. This is a lot of information to digest. I'm happy to make specific computer recommendations if anyone would like. I have my favorites, and it depends on the demands you're going to place on a computer. If your main goal is to check Email and browse the web a bit, it won't matter as much. But if you're working with really large PDF files and you need to deal with audio editing or other multimedia projects, you'll want something with some power. Everyone has their preferences, and there's no one-size-fits-all approach. Brad Martin brad@formyfriends.org www.facebook.com/ucoupons

question about computers
Barbara Hansen <the2skibears@...>
Hello every one,
I need your input concerning the all in one computer. Has anyone experimented with this type, using JAWS. I am considering getting a new computer and like the idea of not having the big tower in the way. I also like the portability of the laptop too. Decisions! Decisions! Your ideas would be appreciated. AYou can move the JAWS cursor to the second column, then rout PC to JAWS. Or at the bottom of the first column press alt + down arrow which will move you to the top of the second.
