Witch webmail works best with Jaws?
Lauren
Hi,
I can't access my Verizon account on their web site and so am thinking of signing up an alternative web-based mail account? Which one works best using Jaws 14? I have Windows 8.1. Is there a difference between gmail and others for ease of use? Thanks. Sincerely, Lauren -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Open JAWS quick settings, then type "new line." I got one result just now that seems to answer your question. I don't have this problem, and I see the checkbox that comes up is not checked.

We switched to Office 365 at work this past Spring. ... I find Outlook to be very accessible with Jaws, with only a few very minor issues. I haven't gotten into the calendaring feature yet, and that is next on my list. Overall, though, I'd say accessibility should be pretty promising for you. Dr. Tom Behler from Michigan

Re: About Buying a new laptop which works well with Jaws

I'm not sure the brand is as important as is the keyboard. I
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
think most brands today that don't mess up Windows and make it somehow proprietary are likely to be fine, and I don't think there is all that much customization of the operating system these days. I've used Lenovo laptops since Lenovo took over from IBM. I used IBM before that. I tried, and dumped, Toshiba. I'm glad to see others have had success with HP. I didn't, but that was before 1996. I've stuck with Lenovo both because that's my firm's standard and because the machines work well with JAWS. Watch out for the keyboard. My Lenovo Yoga, an ultrabook, not a laptop, has the best keyboard I've ever used on a portable computer, except for one thing. I cannot configure it to have an applications key and two JAWS keys. I have another Lenovo that doesn't have an Applications key (and cannot be configured to have one), but it has two JAWS keys. I use shift F-10 instead of the Applications key. It works, but is nowhere as handy as is the applications key. So, ideally, you should have an insert key, a capslock key, and an applications key. If the laptop doesn't have, or cannot be configured to have, these keys, I'd keep looking.

Re: Problems with Jaws 15 and MS word 2010
Ann Byrne
When JAWS gets flaky I unload/reload it. I love the insert+windows+f4 keystroke for doing this, because it reloads JAWS as well. If that doesn't work, reboot. JAWS's brain just gets scrambled after an hour or so of intense work. I find this particularly true with Excel, all versions, but with Word as well. excel doesn't take as long to blow JAWS's mind, though.
