Malware Bites with Jaws: preventing update to inaccessible version
Tim Ford
Thank you Mario for the instructions below. They worked just fine, but I found one additional step was needed for me. When in JAWS review mode, and after navigating to the checkbox I wanted to change, I had to route JAWS to PC cursor, insert and numpad minus key. That brought focus to the checkbox. If I did not do this, I could not figure out a way in JAWS review mode to change a checkbox. Am I missing something?

I'm not sure if future malware definitions will still work with 1.75, but: using the JAWS cursor (numpad minus), find and click on the settings tab, updater tab, tab one time to "Download and install program update" and uncheck this box. tab again to "notify me when a program update is ready for installation" and uncheck this box as well. now tab to Exit, & press enter.

Note the spelling: Malwarebytes. One word, first letter capitalized, bytes with a y. Every single message I've received, including the University guru (sighted) who installed it when setting up my computer, got it wrong (he stuck in a capital B).
I once heard a speech where the lecturer suggested that "the problem becomes the answer." So if everybody gets the name wrong, that means the name itself is wrong. But anyway, to show off incredible competence, write it as one word with one capital. <grin> -- Lee Maschmeyer "Never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise." --Lewis Carroll
