Personal Hot Spot
Ed Marquette <marquette.ed@...>
Thought I would follow-up. Thanks for the suggestions.
Dave was right. I could set it up without sighted assistance. First, I turned on "Personal Hot Spot" Second, I scrolled down to get the password. The iPhone said it was discoverable. Third, I went to the JAWS System Tray (Jaws Key plus F-11). Fourth, I just scrolled through the list of available WI-FI connections (like I would in a hotel). Fifth, I chose "Connect" and entered the password (also called a security code). That was it. No sighted assistance was needed. Some mentioned that, for some carriers, one has to enable the Hot Spot functionality and pay an extra fee. I'm an ATT user and have unlimited data grandfathered. So, that was not an issue. The above was using Jaws 15 and Windows 7. I'll try my Windows 8.1 machine tonight. Sent from my Yoga IdeaPad I. up and down arrow keys suddenly scroll instead of read next line
Kinnunen,Daniel (DFPS)
Hi everyone,
Once in a while when using JAWS in Firefox -- and maybe other web browsers -- for some reason, the up arrow and down arrow keys start acting as scroll buttons instead of JAWS reading keys. I press Down Arrow and instead of JAWS reading the next line, I see visually the Web page scrolling down in the window. Any idea why that might be happening? I'm not sure exactly what order of events triggers it, and I cannot reproduce it at will. It seemed to happen more often with earlier versions of JAWS, but I just saw it happen with JAWS 15 for the first time. When it happens, I try a variety of things, like refreshing the page, pressing Numpad+Plus to force JAWS into PC Cursor mode... but I cannot seem to get JAWS to interpret the down/up arrow keys as reading keys instead of being a scroll key. If I stop JAWS and restart, it clears up. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas? Thanks, Dan -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... An issue with iTunes and JAWS.
Michael Mote
Hi folks! I wondered if someone could help me with an annoying issue with
iTunes. When I search my library by artist and am arrowing through the list, I lost speech with JAWS on my PC. It will say blank blank, but then when I press up arrow, it will tell me the name of the artist that I missed. I should point out that this can happen when I am using up arrow for awhile. For some reason JAWs will stop speaking the names of the artists. Hope this is the right list for this question. I figure some members use iTunes with JAWS on this list. Many thanks for any suggestions in advance! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Re: JAWS and blank sentences
Nikos Dimokas <dimokas@...>
I don't want to change the settings of screen reader. I would like to
understand why JAWS pronounces blank when the user uses arrows (down, up) to navigate in the web page. The strange is that the screen reader says blank before headings but not always. For example, before "Volume 1" heading there is no blank. Can anyone explain when JAWS says blank? I tested the example code with Firefox 31.0 and JAWS 15.0. Re: JAWS and blank sentences
Lisle, Ted (CHFS DMS)
There's a setting under Say All to turn the reading of blank lines either on or off. Its right below the scheme menu, and two lines below the say-all mode setting. I couldn't tell from your note; is this a widespread problem, or does it do it in only one or two contexts? This setting can be used across all programs, or can be set one program at a time.
