Need help with a flash drive.

Michael Mote

Hi folks! I have a flash drive with several folders and downloads of files
including JFW, Magic etc, as I use these for my work. I am having an issue
with where the flash drive shows up. It should show up as the E drive or G
drive, or something like this. Instead, I find the drive contents under a
different folder all together on my computer called Apps Fs1. It appears
that my drive has been renamed somehow. Why did this happen? Should I be
concerned about it?

JAWS and anti-virus

Londa Peterson

I know this question gets asked often, but there's one program I don't remember seeing mentioned here. I just went to Best Buy to look at a new laptop. Actually, I'm considering the Lenovo Yoga ultra book. Best Buy gives a year subscription to either Web Root, Casparsky, or Trend micro. I know the first two are out of the question, but what about Trend Micro? Is it accessible with JAWS? I did use their free online tool once, and it seemed to work well, but I didn't want to assume based on that. I know I can always use another program like AVG, but I figured if there was something included in the price, I might as well take advantage of it if I could. Thanks for the help.

Hi All,

When I press jaws key + f11 I am getting the message "failed to obtain
list of task tray icons." It seems to be happening consistently, so
I'm curious, first if anyone has ever seen that message? Second, is
there a fix?

I am running the most recent release of jaws 15 on a windows 7 laptop.

Thanks,
Kim

I have tested this website, and did not have any problems. I did not enter anything, but I did get a form to do so. I am using Jaws15 and Windows 7.

Test this website. When at the website choose register now link and see if you get any type of form fields / edit where you can enter text like numbers and email address. Because I cannot do so with JAWS 15. With NVDA 2014.2 I can enter text and do hear the form / edit fields. Simply amazing.

Go figure.

Brad Martin

Sorry, I tried this in IE and in Firefox with JAWS 15, and I didn't seem to be having any problems. When I clicked on Register Now, the first screen looked like an introduction. When I went to Next, the fields were there and text could be entered in them. I didn't try to move to the next step, because I don't have an account with RBC. But it responded perfectly normal for me. I'm running JFW 15 on Windows 7 Pro, latest version of IE and Firefox, and all software up-to-date.

Re: Failed to obtain list of task tray icons -- anyone seen this message?

Ford, Tim (CDPH-OLS) <Tim.Ford@...>

I do get that, but always in a situation where Windows has not fully loaded; those system tray icons are loaded either last or next to last I believe. The other situation where that happens is when my office machine has gone into its automatic lock mode after 15 minutes of no keyboard activity. After I log back in, the system tray list comes up just fine.

If this was not happening with previous versions of JAWS, then my only thought is maybe somehow along the way a new program got installed on your machine, and if the program is not accessible, that can trigger the error message you are getting.

Try windos key +b, the alternative task tray keystroke--windows, not JAWS. if that works, JAWS is the problem. If not ... well, you know the rest. (LOL)

after that one sometimes when on firefox tabs I will be on a website and
typing in an edit box or just surfing that page and Jaws will flick to
another tab by itself, its kind of annoying and I have reported this to FS
months back but still no fix. Is anyone else on this list use firefox tabs a

I've had this problem before. Since I use a Braille display, I can see that
the message is actually there, but JAWS isn't reading it. The problem is
that if you don't hit escape and reopen the message, JAWS won't
automatically read them anymore until you do. When this problem happens, try
using your arrow keys and see if the message is actually there.
Unfortunately, I don't know how to fix this.

I received little or no help with my question.

When I try and sort my incomeing e mail and hit the delete key on the six
pack sometimes the cursor will move to the next message in the list but more
often it will just stop.

In order to move to the next message I have to hit excape and the down
curser.

I get a lot of mail for which I have no interest and going through takes
much longer this way.

Again I have jaws 14 latest, latest windows live mail and i..e. 8.

Thanks,

David

properly, have good focus.
also, ctrl+d=delete while inside a message,

well, third answer;

I'm assuming your asking about deleteing messages while in a message in
windows live mail,

just enter on the message,
ctrl+d=delete, this will move you to the next message.

Judith, nothing wrong with the formatting here. Perhaps you have your window
sized too small, or your own font set too large, so that you only hear a
couple words per line.
