Outlook 2007 Calendar and JAWS

Charlie Macdonald <charlie.mac@...>

Greetings: I've just started to use Outlook 2007 at work and having some
difficulty getting the calendar view set ... are there any suggested
settings for Outlook to make the calendar more responsive to JAWS .. For
example with view set to "week" I cannot move day to day with the right
arrow although to a sighted person using the right arrow does advance the
calendar but JAWS is stuck on the current day .. I called FS help desk and
the fellow on the desk had the same problem but could not help me.
I'm using the latest version of Jaws 12 and it's a vista operating system
...
Many thanks for any suggestions,
Regards,
Charlie.

You might want to consider signing up for the free webinar being hosted by
Freedom Scientific on using the Focus Blu Braille display scheduled for
September 22 and 29. You will need to register separately for the two dates
and the webinar is FREE.

Go to the following:

Hi does anyone have a resource on learning the jaws commands on the focus
blue keyboard that does a better job then the jaws documentation?

I cant seem to be able to follow the explination that jaws provides in the
help files.

It just does not make sense.

Thanks and sorry for the vague question.

Re: Need refresher on how to configure varous voices in Jaws 12withWindows 7

Marquette, Ed <Ed.Marquette@...>

Having just had my laptop "upgraded" to Windows 7, I'm in the same boat as is Tom.
I think, actually, there are two routes, with variations along the way.
You can create separate voice profiles indeed. Different profiles can employ different synthesizers. I now have a profile for Eloquence and one for Samantha of the Solo RealSpeak voices.
In addition, however, you can create a different voice scheme. I've done this principally by modifying and renaming schemes Freedom Scientific provides by default.
JAWS key plus alt plus S will get into the voice schemes. Here, you can set different voices for different items, including bold and so on.
Under the voice alias setting, you can create your own custom voice, combining one of the named voices with your own pitch and so on.

I haven't done this in a while, but following Steve's directions, you would
create a separate profile for each combination you want. After completing
this task, you switch between profiles by pressing insert-control-s.

I want to get to the voices like Paul,Rocco, Sandy, Grampa, etc.

turn on the taboo headers (that is remove unnecessary headers)

Thanks, Bill.

I have been playing around with the RTF option, but haven't found things to be terribly clean.

Will try the PDF strategy here when I get the chance.

I appreciate everyone's input on this.

Depends. If the presentation has an outline or presentor notes, those can be
saved as a text file or rtf from within ppt. I usually find it most
effective to go to File/save as/ and select PDF as the file type. This will
save the text and other stuff out to a pdf file which is readable with jaws
or you can then use a conversion application to convert the pdf to word. I
find it interesting that office doesn't provide for a cleaner conversion of
a ppt to a .doc or .rtf. there is an option to save as word but this keeps
the thing in slide form that is cumbersome with JAWS.

does your school have a disabled students center, and are you in the US?

here the instructors are required to make reasonable adaptations so there blind students have the ability to take the same courses and receive the same level of education that a sighted student has. so if this thing is not accessible then he has to figure out another method of presenting the info to you, period end of quote!

talk with his about this, talk to the DSC, or the dean of students and the tutorial center if you don't have a DSC.

and keep talking to us, I'm a bulldozer when it comes to such troubles, and am not afraid to call an instructor and tell them what is and what isn't, B.E.G.!

Re: Accessible digital TV tuner card

2.g.i <2.g.i.84972@...>

Hi Marilyn, if I may answer you.

yes it does,
I have a digital tuner card running with windows 7 media centre & it works great,
you can also download a free program called MC buddy that will edit all the adds out for you.
The MC Buddy, first converts the program you have recorded then removes the adds out.

So you cant watch it add free strait away, you need to wait for the MC buddy to do its job.
Normally only an hour or so after the program has been recorded.
Hope this helps
Best wishes.

in that is very accessible and does some amazing things. Most, if not all TV

Subject: Accessible digital TV tuner card

Hello, listers,

Can anyone recommend a digital TV tuner card that will work with JAWS 12? I
am running Windows XP 2002 Home Edition with Service Pack 3.

With thanks,

Marilyn in Canada.

Michael,
If you would like, I will try to contact MyItLab directly tomorrow, and
see if I can get a demo account, and discuss the product's accessibility
with the product rep.
I would be glad to report back to you, hopefully with good news.
I'm a Security auditor and programmer, and am in between jobs; I would
like to help wit this.
Please let me know off-list if I should pursue this.
If so, please give me the names of the classes you are taking, so that I
can refer to them when speaking to the rep.

Sincerely,

Re: Extracting text from powerpoint presentation--Text Pal

Mike & Barbara In Arcadia <mb69mach1@...>

Hi Ann,

Actually I couldn't find a download link anywhere I looked. I got tired of
trying, but I did let Inthane know that the link on his website doesn't
work. Hopefully he'll get that going again. Thanks again, take care.
Mike
