Lauren

Hi:

Jaws said Office updates are available and to click on the balloon. I don't
see it anywhere. How do I access a balloon that has been already spoken?

I went into some settings to have the balloon appear for a while before, but
this doesn't help me to find the balloon so I can perform the updates.

Thanks.

Sincerely,

Lauren

Re: more complications with iTunes

Dave...

Doug,

Make sure you're using the latest Blind Tunes, and make sure it's running
when iTunes is up and running.

iTunes has always been a slow-reacting program on a PC, so don't expect a
snappy response to keystrokes.

Well, I'm using jaws 15 with the most recent version of iTunes and
blindtunes. I suspect your issues are related to the combination of
iTunes and jaws. Version 12 is still pretty old especially if you're
using a current version of iTunes. FS has made some significant
strides with regard to iTunes accessibility since version 12.

Subject: more complications with iTunes

I uninstalled iTunes with Revo Uninstaller and tried to download a new
iTunes from the Apple web site; but after the installation was almost
finished I got these error messages:

The older version of Apple Software Update cannot be
removed. Contact your technical support group.

Errors occurred during installation before iTunes could be
configured.
Your system has not been modified. To complete the
installation, run the installer again.
Click Finish to exit the installer.
< Back Finish Cancel

I clicked "finish" and proceeded to uninstall Apple Software Update and
some related programs. After that I went to Downloads and installed the
new
version of iTunes, as well as an earlier BlindTunes, but didn't find
iTunes
as accessible as before. I landed in a group of buttons such as Search,
Music, Store, etc. I couldn't get to the Radio tree view by selecting
Sources (control+shift+s) followed by R; it just showed a list of options
to
purchase from the store. So I uninstalled iTunes again and tried
downloading an earlier version, but got an error saying a file couldn't
be
read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. (See below.)
Any
ideas why iTunes has become less friendly with Jaws (I'm staying with
Jaws
9.0 for accessibility reasons), or how the Radio feature got disabled?
Thanks.

download
the latest from the apple website. This is most likely the issue.

Close JAWS with JAWS key+Windows key+F4. IN JAWS 15, when you bring back JAWS, you will be given the option of notifying FS.

Hi is it possible to put jaws on a flash drive and then put the authorization on the pc? Does it matter what edition of windows you are using? Or do I have to stick with the edition that I am using for jaws. I have a desktop with home premium of windows 7, and a laptop running windows 7 autimate 64 bit.

Re: more complications with iTunes

Which versions of iTunes and Blindtunes? I tried them with Jaws 12 but had the same issues; I found myself tabbing through a bunch of choices, like search music library, go to iTunes store, edit, etc. Sometimes Jaws was silent or hesitant as I tabbed through the controls, giving me no idea what I had selected or what had current focus--like I was in a blank field. I can't access the sources sidebar or treeview like I used to with control+shift+s; the only item it shows is music, r doesn't bring up the radio option. What happened to the former functions, where I could select radio and open a treeview showing different genres and stations covering those genres? I could pick a station of my choice on the fly (once I discovered it and could remember the station name) by opening the treeview and typing the first few call letters or part of the station's name. These functions seem to have gotten disabled somehow when I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and/or Blindtunes. Thanks for your continued observations.

I sent this the other night but got no response. Do you know if the Blindtunes scripts still work with any version of Jaws? I can't afford upgrading to the latest version of Jaws; besides, it creates more complications with my braille display functions. Thanks.

Subject: more complications with iTunes

I uninstalled iTunes with Revo Uninstaller and tried to download a new iTunes from the Apple web site; but after the installation was almost finished I got these error messages:

The older version of Apple Software Update cannot be
removed. Contact your technical support group.
OK
iTunes
iTunes Installer completed
Errors occurred during installation before iTunes could be
configured.
Your system has not been modified. To complete the
installation, run the installer again.
Click Finish to exit the installer.
< Back Finish Cancel

I clicked "finish" and proceeded to uninstall Apple Software Update and some related programs. After that I went to Downloads and installed the new version of iTunes, as well as an earlier BlindTunes, but didn't find iTunes as accessible as before. I landed in a group of buttons such as Search, Music, Store, etc. I couldn't get to the Radio tree view by selecting Sources (control+shift+s) followed by R; it just showed a list of options to purchase from the store. So I uninstalled iTunes again and tried downloading an earlier version, but got an error saying a file couldn't be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. (See below.) Any ideas why iTunes has become less friendly with Jaws (I'm staying with Jaws 9.0 for accessibility reasons), or how the Radio feature got disabled? Thanks.

I have heard this error before. You will have to uninstall and download the latest from the apple website. This is most likely the issue.

No, every week I get an Apple software update prompt, and I ignore it. I found that later versions of iTunes aren't as Jaws friendly as earlier versions. I remember trying to update and getting an error message like the update couldn't be completed or contact the web administrator. Thanks again.
