Re: Amazon.com - payments
Mario, I'm using JAWS 14 as well. I do sometimes use the site for screen readers and mobile users, and it works pretty well. I just don't see a straightforward way to add a credit card on that site. I did take a look at One Click Settings on the site, and you can add a card there, and they even still have a combo box for selecting month and year. I don't use One Click Ordering, but maybe if I added a card there, it would still show up for me to choose in my regular orders. Since I was able to add a card by the method I gave in a previous post, I won't try the One Click approach.

Re: Amazon.com - payments
Peter, I had that very problem with adding a card on Amazon this morning. I think the web site developers at Amazon stay up nights trying to think up new web site controls to frustrate screen reader users. Every other site I have dealt with used a combo box to pick the month and year, and so did Amazon until now. They changed to Menu Buttons on the add credit card page. They still have combo boxes on other pages though.
What I got when I activated the Menu Button for the month while in Virtual Cursor Mode was a list of links corresponding to the months of the year. No matter how I tried to activate the correct link, and I tried them all, the Menu Button still displayed the same month.
As a last resort, I turned off Virtual Cursor Mode with JAWS Key z and activated the Button Menu again. This time I got my months in a list box. I selected the correct month, pressed Enter and was relieved to see that the correct month was now displayed in the Menu Button. I then reactivated Virtual Cursor Mode with JAWS Key z and finished the process without difficulty. Hope this method works for you.
By the way, I'm still using the last build of JAWS 14. I was wondering if JAWS 15 would have done better. Guess not!

Before I submit the following to Freedom Scientific, I thought I would confirm, with this esteemed group, what I think, at least, is a bug in JAWS 15.
I've been genuinely satisfied with JAWS 15, and it has a couple of advantages over JAWS 14 that are particularly useful to me.
Here, however, is the problem, though I admit it is not a big one.
I have confirmed this in both Windows 8 and Windows 7. I have found this in at least the last 3 versions of Internet Explorer. Not sure if it exists in FireFox. I rarely use FireFox because I need to use a document management system that only half works in FireFox.
Anyway, here is the problem:
When in IE, if I press Jaws Key plus F-5 I should get a list of form fields in a kind of dialog box. Using first letter navigation, I can hit the field I'm looking for right away. If I hit enter on the name of that field in the Jaws-created dialog box, I should be taken to that form field. In Jaws 14, that seemed to work without flaw. In Jaws 15 it too seems to work when, at the time of pressing Jaws key plus F-5, one is sitting on a radio button, a check box, or a combo box. If, however, one is sitting on an edit field, it doesn't work. The dialog box appears, and I can navigate to the desired name in that dialog box, but when I activate it (by hitting ENTER or hitting tab and space bar) the dialog box disappears, and I'm left in the same edit field as when I pressed the form field command (Jaws key plus F-5).
That, therefore, makes the exercise useless. The obvious work-around is simply to make sure I'm not on an edit field when I press Jaws Key plus F-5. That, however, as I hope you agree, is less than elegant. <SMILE>

Hi listers,
Just wondering if anyone has discovered any stock trading software that is functional with JAWS.
I've looked at a few such as Ninja Trader and various brokerages web-sites and have concluded that most mainstream solutions are less than optimal for a blind user.
I'd also be curious to know if anyone has ever tackled charts or attempted a custom tactile chart-plotting application.
Thanks

<SMILE>

I'm currently using the simple playlist with tabs layout, but several of the layouts are well usable with a screenreader. As for addins, the main one for me is the FLV decoder. If you're curious what else there is, take a peek: http://www.foobar2000.org/componentsCheers Michael -- Blog: http://blindleben.blogspot.deAm 23.03.2014 23:58, schrieb Jean M:

So, what is the proper UI design for Foobar and the add-ins you speak of?

Hi Jim,
not sure what features WinAmp has, but I like Foobar. If you choose the proper UI design, it's perfect for Screenreader usage, and with a couple of addons it does everything I need to do.

Heya folks,
Can anyone recommend a Winamp Alternative that works wonderful with Jaws 15 and Windows 7? I'd like it to have all the features winamp has and the options and features are really Jaws friendly.

I have had this problem. Running Jaws 15 under Windows 7. In fact I often come across links that Will not activate when pressing enter. I can usually get them to go with the Jaws cursor, although the Route Jaws to PC usually doesn't work very well. Tom

Just tried this out on IE 11 on a Win7 machine running JFW 15 Pro. The command seems to work as intended. I exicuted this Jaws command while on edit fields, buttons, combo boxes and checkboxes and every time I selected a different form field be with the the spacebar or enter button, I was taken to that spot. I tried it from different edit fields on different webpages and nothing buggy happened.

<SMILE>

Ted,
I thought that pressing Enter on a link in the list was the same as tabbing to the activate link button. What is the distinction, if I'm wrong?

I guess JAWS has had it around for a long time, but only recently have I discovered its utility. -----Original Message----- From: Jfw [mailto:jfw-bounces@...] On Behalf Of Kimberly Sent: Monday, March 24, 2014 8:32 AM To: The Jaws for Windows support list. Tom, do you ever use the "Activate Link" command? I've gotten into the habit of using it here at work, because certain links in our main database can be really stubborn.

Also seems to very from site to site at times. Links on some pages will work one day and not another day. Windows 7 Pro, IE10, and Jaws 15 Pro.
