Well, since I've tried the 60-day WindowEyes trial twice over the last

few years (once with WE 7.5 and then again with WE 8) and found it very lacking both times I don't see myself switching without vast improvement on WindowEyes' part. Maybe working with MS will give GWMicro enough capital that they can make those improvements, maybe not. I am a little surprised actually that MS would go to GW rather than putting whatever money (I am assuming that in order for this to make business sense on GW's part that MS forked over a bundle of cash) is involved here toward NVDA. Even though I didn't care for the folks developing NVDA my experience is that NVDA is already a better product than WE.

The Future of JAWS
Gerald Levy
As many of you may have learned from other lists, Freedom Scientific's main rival in the commercial screen reader market has announced that it will offer its screen reader absolutely free and unrestricted to users with licensed versions of Windows Office 2010 and higher. How will this development affect us JAWS users? Will hordes of JAWS users flock to the competition and force JAWS into oblivion? Will FS be forced to make a counter move and offer JAWS for free on a similar basis to remain viabole? In short, what is the future of JAWS in light of this stunning announcement, and do we loyal JAWS users have any cause for concern?
Any thoughts ? Gerald -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: <http://lists.the-jdh.com/pipermail/jfw_lists.the-jdh.com/attachments/20140115/7cc5b148/attachment.html>

hi
I just thought I would let all who are interested know about changes to yahoo plus, which used to cost $19.95 a year. It is changing to Yahoo Premium and the cost is going up to $49.95. With this program, you are able to send your Yahoo messages to your E-Mail provider. I don't know what other things are included in this massive price increase. I have been using it for almost 10 years. I am not happy with this at all. Marsha

IE11 and Embedded PDF files
Adrian Spratt
I still have the problem that I can't access PDF files embedded in a website, and I hope someone here can give some advice, but I have located how to prevent such documents from being read in the browser. For anyone interested, in Adobe XI you now need to make the selection via the accessibility assistant, as follows:
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
1. alt-e for edit. 2. y for accessibility. 3. press enter on this submenu and select "setup assistant." 4. Adobe forces you to go through the entire setup process before you find the browser checkbox at the very end. There is a 21-page Adobe XI accessibility document under the heading "Accessibility Resources" at the following page: http://www.adobe.com/accessibility/products/reader.html
