It may be that with what window eyes has done, there will be so many
people
using office that GW Micro will be forced to devoting time and resources
it
would otherwise put toward supporting applications to ensuring its Windows
and Office support. JAWS could then focus more on supporting non-office
application such as visual studio, music editing and creation packages,
the
whole rest of the software world. I think jaws has a large enough user
base
that it won't be going away anytime soon. People could download NVDA for
free before this announcement. What effect did that have on JAWS?
TO me, a more interesting question might be whether computer producers who
sell new machines with bundled software, including trial versions of
office,
now bundle it with WindowEyes? Will educational institutions, now
realizing
they can install window eyes on machine running office, bail on JAWS?
These
are questions I wonder about.

Re: The Future of JAWS

Soronel Haetir

Well, since I've tried the 60-day WindowEyes trial twice over the last
few years (once with WE 7.5 and then again with WE 8) and found it
very lacking both times I don't see myself switching without vast
improvement on WindowEyes' part. Maybe working with MS will give
GWMicro enough capital that they can make those improvements, maybe
not.

I am a little surprised actually that MS would go to GW rather than
putting whatever money (I am assuming that in order for this to make
business sense on GW's part that MS forked over a bundle of cash) is
involved here toward NVDA. Even though I didn't care for the folks
developing NVDA my experience is that NVDA is already a better product
than WE.

Re: Yahoo Mail Accessibility

Marsha <marcatony@...>

hi
I just thought I would let all who are interested know about changes to
yahoo plus, which used to cost $19.95 a year. It is changing to Yahoo
Premium and the cost is going up to $49.95. With this program, you are able
to send your Yahoo messages to your E-Mail provider. I don't know what
other things are included in this massive price increase. I have been using
it for almost 10 years. I am not happy with this at all.

Re: best tax filing program that works with Jaws

Sort of, but not like changing a number on a form. You'll need to enter the
wizard at the appropriate point and step through to make the change. Trying
to change the number on the represented form on the screen is pretty hard to
do unless you have sight.

The download paid version will not use a captcha, since you provide the
authentication before you file your returns. Still a very good deal, and
works quite well with JAWS, as long as you don't try to edit the actual
graphical forms, but stick to the input wizard.

Hey guys. I'm using Jaws 13 and the latest version of Yahoo instant
messenger. Do any of you know of any scripts for YIM? I've googled,
but
the only ones I can find are for Jaws 6.

IE11 and Embedded PDF files

Adrian Spratt

I still have the problem that I can't access PDF files embedded in a website, and I hope someone here can give some advice, but I have located how to prevent such documents from being read in the browser. For anyone interested, in Adobe XI you now need to make the selection via the accessibility assistant, as follows:

1. alt-e for edit.

2. y for accessibility.

3. press enter on this submenu and select "setup assistant."

4. Adobe forces you to go through the entire setup process before you find the browser checkbox at the very end.

There is a 21-page Adobe XI accessibility document under the heading "Accessibility Resources" at the following page:

http://www.adobe.com/accessibility/products/reader.html

I'm suddenly unable to access what might be embedded PDF files on the Internet. I'm making that inference because another website required me to install the latest version of Adobe Reader just before I experienced this problem.

On my Win6, 64-bit system, I'm running IE11 and Adobe Reader Version 11.0.5.

Past versions of Adobe Reader had an option in preferences for embedded PDF files to be handled by Adobe rather than the browser. I don't find that option in AR11.

I have confirmed that the Adobe Reader add-on is enabled in the browser.

Any suggestions?

Nicole Massey <nyyki@...>

Do you have them in the right place? The Jaws scripts seem to help most
after the conversation exceeds the contents of one screen, at which point it
handles things reading only the last message sent, not the entire screen.
Feel free to message me using the Yahoo name of Nyykithewitch if you want to
test this or have more questions.
Oh, and I'm running this under Windows XP Professional with service pack 3
and in 32 bit mode, if that matters.

Nicole,

How do the Jaws scripts help? I've copied and pasted them, even turned
off Jaws and Yahoo messenger and restarted both. I don't see a
difference.
Should I restart my computer?

Hello all, I am a new subscriber to this listserv.
Yahoo's mobile website works a bit better with JAWS than the standard webpage. The web address is:

It is not JAWS friendly at all, you can leave out the word "very".

I have seen some suggestions but none seem to really work.

Hey everyone. Is there an option to use classic mail on Yahoo? Or if not
that, a basic version? I need to use it for work and it's not very
jaws-friendly.

What about Money Talks from APH?
I just use it for basic things though.

I still use Money 2001. I could never find something else that would work.
Unfortunately, I am probably reaching the end of its usefulness. I have
looked at other options and none have met my needs that will work with Jaws.
I am most likely just going to make my own web based one that does what I
want.

Just wondering what people are using ... I have Quicken 2011 which for the
most part is very usable. Quicken 2014 however has made changes to the
register which makes things much more difficult. Just wondering if there
are other things which have been used successfully that interface with banks
and credit cards .. After 4/30 quicken 2011 will no longer allow for the
downloading of transactions, which I find to be a critical feature.

Thanks in advance ...
