Morey Worthington

Hello all,
Does anyone have any help files on using the Windows Fax and Scan program that they would care to share with me?
Using Win/7 HP and Jaws 15, and also Kurzweil 13.
Thanks,
Morey Worthington

Hi folks. I'm using jaws 15 and have just downloaded skype 6.1. I've also downloaded the executabble file of scripts. I've never used skype before, so can somebody tell me what I need to to and where to go to use the script file I just downloaded. I have no clue. Thanks

Stewart

Dan,
My recommendation is to forget all about the virtual ribbon, and become proficient with the ribbon. In the long run it will be beneficial. That is what I have found.

Hi,

I will wait until the next version of Windows 9 or 10 is released. By that
time all bugs experienced in Win 8 should have been resolved.

Been using Windows 8 for over a year. I'm hesitant to go to Windows 8.1. I
suppose if it is already loaded, that might be OK.
I've heard too many people, however, who have tried to update their systems
from Windows 8 to 8.1 only to find that they had to install all their
software all over again.
I cannot afford that kind of disaster.
As far as Windows 8 is concerned, unless you are a Start Menu junkie, I have
seen little difference. In fact, there seem to be more truly functional
keyboard commands.
If you operate from your desktop mostly (and I do), then the transition from
XP shouldn't be a big deal. Do check around for podcasts on the subject.
There is a particularly good one from, I think, Vision Australia, but I'm
going from memory, and I listened to it about a year ago.

Hi, listers:
I use Jaws 15 and plan to ditch Windows xp soon. How well does Jaws 15 work
with Windows 8.1? I'm wondering about how much of a learning curve there is
with version 15 and Windows 8.1. Should I move up to Windows 8.1 or go
instead with Windows 7? I need and appreciate your input. Thanks.

I agree. I'm not sure why allot of people are so unhappy with windows8. Its nice and the new settings pains and the new refresh and reset options are just to our advantage.

I skipped over Windows 7 and went ti Win8, then 8.1, based on advice from
several sources. The learning curve with 8 is IMHO significant but not
insurmountable. The major problem with Win 8 is the lack of
documentation.

Try using route JAWS to PC cursor.
Press alt+n for next
Press alt+b for back
alt+f for finish
It all depends if they used the keyboard shortcuts.

Hello all.

I posted this a few days ago and haven't gotten any response. Hopefully
someone might read this and can offer some suggestions.

I have JAWS set up to read messages automatically in Outlook. After opening
a few messages, the automatic reading stops and the message is opened in an
edit window. this means I have to use the say all command to read the
message. Besides shutting down and restarting JAWS and/or Outlook, which
doesn't always fix the problem, is there anything else I can do?

I also just noticed while composing this message the f7 key does nothing;
so this message hasn't been spell checked.

thanks for any help or suggestions.

Re: JAWS and CD labeling

Mario

hi Mike, the simplest way, I've heard of using ms word to make labels for
CDs but can't seem to find out how because I'm using word 2003 and most of
the info found thru Google is based on using Word 2007, 2010 or 2013. I
think a template is needed, but again I'm lost as what to do.

other than that, when I upgrade to Windows 7, I'll need something else.
that's why I started looking for a dedicated program rather than using a
program that includes label making.

Hi Mario,

I happen to be looking for the same thing. Like you I have tried several of
the free ones, but have yet to find one that is JAWS compatible. Have you
tried Easy Label Express Lite? It can be downloaded from the Meritline.com
web site. I now have it, but have not installed it yet. They also have some
good prices on their own brand of labels, jewel case inserts, etc., which is
called Merix. Another one that I still have the software for, but have not
used since losing my sight, is Neato's CD/DVD Labeling Kit, which includes
the software, the label applicator, and a good assortment of labels and
jewel case inserts. If you find something that's useable, please post it on
the list, so that I can pick up on it. And, if I find anything, I'll do the
same. Good luck In your search.

hi, I'd like to find out if anyone has a recommendation for a program used
to create labels for compact discs?
I'm wanting to make labels for backups and other things CDs are used for,
but want something that works with JAWS. I don't want fancy formats like
bending the text, pictures, etc. something simple like text for title,
description, etc.
most of the free programs I find via Google are not really accessible, and
I'm getting tired of installing and then uninstalling one I found that's
not
really as advertised as "screen reader friendly". any suggestions?
