Andrew:

Open Windows Explorer.

Highlight the drive for which you want the statistics.

Route the JAWS cursor to the PC cursor.

Tap the DOWN ARROW key once, JAWS should tell you the type of drive that is highlighted.

Tap the DOWN ARROW key again, JAWS should tell you the type of format for the drive.

Tap the DOWN ARROW key again, JAWS should say: Used Space, followed by the MB, GB or TB value for the amount of space used on the drive.

Tap the DOWN ARROW key again, JAWS should say: Free Space, followed by the MB, GB or TB value for the amount of free space available on the drive

Tap the DOWN ARROW key again, JAWS should say: Capacity, followed by the MB, GB or TB value for the total capacity of the drive

If that is all the information you wisht to know within the properties for that drive, tap the ESC key, to close the properties dialog and you will be back on the highlighted drive.

Oh yes, I forgot, if you have finished using Windows Explorer, Press ALT+F4, to close Windows Explorer.

HTH

Sincerely:

Dave Durber

In windows xp, you could press alt-enter on my computer and get a lot of

You'd also get the operating system and other hardware and software

How do I get this same information in windows 7?

Hi Ann,

I typed in the web address into the "Address and Search" field, right there on the google home page, without the http://www. And it took me right to the web page that I wanted. Example: amazon.com typed into the address/search box worked. I am not too sure about your charts , etc. on your banking web site, but I hope this helps anyway.

Good luck,
Mike

In Internet Explorer when I want to open a new link I press control+o and type in the address without the http://www. Is there a keystroke in Chrome that functions similarly??? Control+n puts me on the address bar, and I have to type in all those extra characters (lol).

Chrome loads the JAWS Firefox settings, and so far is only recognizing some of the tables on our banking site. Is there a magic (little mag) keystroke to help Chrome see tables???

Thanks a bunch,

JAWS 15.0 and Slow Internet

Nermin

Hi,

in case people are having problems with either skype connections or internet performance in general when JAWS 15 is running (slow downloads), here is how to work around this temporarily.
If you’re using a Braille display that relies on bluetooth, go into Synthesizer and Braille manager and deselect any Braille display you might have added.
It is not enough to just select “no Braille display” as your default, there needs to be no Braille driver installed for JAWS to use.
Restart JAWS when prompted to do so, and all should behave as usual, except for the annoying fact that you’re left without Braille temporarily.
I tested this with a German FS employee just last night.
I do not know if displays connected via other means exhibit that strange behaviour.

FS is still analysing why it’s happening for some people, whereas others do not seem to have any issue at all.
If you know of people not on this list, feel free to pass on the info.

Regards,
Nermin

In addition, you can get a lot of system information by pressing the Windows key+pause (the key at the top far right on a standard keyboard). This key combo also worked in XP. In Win7, MS saw fit to add what amounts to several ads for enhancements, but the details are still useful.

Focus 40 pairing

Richard Holloway

Apologies for a slightly off topic post-- maybe someone could reply off list?

I have a Focus 40 BT I need to pair with a Macintosh G5, OS 10.5.8. The Mac sees the Focus 40 and after entering 0000 shows it "paired" on the paired devices list, but with the Focus 40 turned on, the Mac shows the Focus 40 as not connected.

I suspect I'm missing a step. We can pair with an iPod and an iPad fine, and there were no other devices active when testing this, so it isn't that the Focus 40 was paired with anything else.

A walk through or link to a Macintosh-specific tutorial would be really helpful.

Thanks so much,

with Firefox 18, it wouldn't load at all, and I got instead the Google home
page with the normal search edit field with a bunch of links to product ads
under the search field. Has anyone else been experiencing trouble with
Google Shopping? I was able to access it without any difficulty last week.
I would appreciate it if somebody could check out the Google Shopping page,
the direct address for which is below, and report whether they can load it
successfully and search for products. Thanks.
