I know Jaws and Dragon V12 work well together. I had both on my old XP machine until it bit the dust. Now I am ready to install Dragon Naturally Speaking Professional Version 12 on my Windows 8 laptop with Jaws 14.

Previously on this list, I think Ed had given a great description of Dragon recommended settings so it works best with Jaws. I tried searching for that old thread, but can’t find it. If anyone knows what those DNS settings are, I would appreciate having that info again.

Thanks.

I think the feature you want is called flexible web. look for an fs cast

Those heading styles should be contained in your normal.dot as well, so
making a copy of this and just dropping it in if something goes wonky should

No, the Jaws pass through key does not change things. It's pretty odd in that it's only level 1 that malfunctions. Levels 2-3 work just fine.

Is a Jaws repair a good idea for this keystroke malfunction? All else works fine.

So, if you switch to a Mac, be prepared to learn a new operating system, a

use other Microsoft applications under Windows, they probably won't work

I appreciate this "heads up" more than you will know.

I am just about ready to install Jaws 14 on a new Windows 7 computer,

downloaded Jaws 14.0.9002 yesterday. Now I think I will just go back to
the original Jaws 14 that is on the Jaws 14 CD.

My SMA ran out with Jaws 14, and as far as I'm concerned, I'm not even
going to ask my University to renew it, or touch Jaws 15 because of
exactly what you have found here.

I use Microsoft Word extensively, both professionally and personally,
and
simply don't need additional headaches.

All of this is making switching to a MAC look better and better every
day.

Downloaded the update earlier today, but I had to go back to the

reading
only by sentences. When I tried to read by paragraphs, it would only
say,
"Blank." When I would navigate from one paragraph to the other, it
would
say, "Tab." I am beginning to think that JAWS is going backwards
instead
of forward. Heh, JAWS 12 works a lot better than 14. Accessibility in
Chrome is also broke. I know they haven't done much to supported, but
it
was a lot better with JAWS 12 than it is with 14.

Re: Using place markers.

Control shift K will activate the marker dialogue box. Once you have place markers set up, you can go through by pressing the letter K.

yes thats what they are designed to do. they will take you to anything on
the page that you want to set them at. they work on links, buttons, frames,
lists or anything else you need to find in a hurry. have your sighted person
tell you the name of the button and you can name the place marker to reflect
that.
