dongles wouldn't work here not on my machines since there are four of them in total and I can be running anywhere from two to three at the same time. but, fs has never given me a hassle with my authorizations, seems to be others with only one or two machines that are getting hassled. regards, elf . In my case I haven't had as many activations as FS claims. I only use JAWS on both of my PCs and no where else. The only times I've had activations has been when I've restored my PC back and fitted new hardware. Some of the times I've restored my PC back has been due to issues with JAWS and trying to resolve them. A more sensible approach from FS would be to have JAWS send once a day a message to FS giving the IP address of the computer then they would be able to see that it was being used in the location it was intended for and wouldn't be an issue. For those who don't want FS to have that information they can just remain as they are.
We pay a lot of money for the software to say the least. I appreciate FS want to protect themselves from piracy but I am sure that such a strict policy on activations is what has caused some to go down the route of piracy (mine is a fully paid for version and I do not condone piracy in the slightest).

Steve, a small objection from one who has requested new activations only twice in nearly two decades. Agreed, requesting a lot of activations could indicate usage outside the terms of our agreement with FS. However, it's clear that many people here need activations for reasons to do with the number of systems they have, the hardware upgrades they install, the occasional mistakes they make, and so on. FS has a right to protect its revenue source, but it does come at a cost to customers of the unrestricted use of a program we paid generously for.

Hi, all.
I'm between computers here, and have a question about Jaws activation counts.
I know I could call FS about this, but figured I might get a quicker answer from the list.
Regarding activations, does a single-license Jaws user like myself have a given number of activations for each separate version of Jaws, or is the allotted number of 3 activations constant across all versions of Jaws collectively?
I am getting a couple of new computers set up for both office and home, and
am trying to figure out how best to proceed, while still keeping an older Windows XP machine around as a back-up in case that is needed as well.
I have Jaws 12, but a few earlier versions of Jaws that I could probably use if neded, if that would give me more activations to work
with.
Thanks!
Tom from Michigan

Kerri,
Have you installed Firefox 6? I have no experience with that version for a
reason I'll explain in a moment.
In terms of JAWS, I don't recall needing to make any adjustments for
Firefox 3 and 4. I assume, without knowing for a fact, that Firefox 6 and JAWS
work well together.
If you explore the Mozilla website, you'll find references to many, many
add-ons that can enhance your experience. These have to do with synchronizing your Firefox and IE favorites, PDF files, Adobe Flash and
more.
Many of us started using Firefox because of Webvisum, which deciphered
so-called CAPTIA, or image codes, that many websites use for security
purposes. Webvisum never worked with IE. However, Webvisum hasn't been
updated for versions 5 and 6, and the people at Webvisum haven't been
responding to queries.

In terms of JAWS, I don't recall needing to make any adjustments for Firefox 3 and 4. I assume, without knowing for a fact, that Firefox 6 and JAWS work well together.
If you explore the Mozilla website, you'll find references to many, many add-ons that can enhance your experience. These have to do with synchronizing your Firefox and IE favorites, PDF files, Adobe Flash and more.
Many of us started using Firefox because of Webvisum, which deciphered so-called CAPTIA, or image codes, that many websites use for security purposes. Webvisum never worked with IE. However, Webvisum hasn't been updated for versions 5 and 6, and the people at Webvisum haven't been responding to queries.

Hello, all. I'm new to Firefox and was inquiring whether or not there are any settings needed to optimize fire fox with jaws? Thanks and have a great day.

for me I have been using : www.tera-byte.com for somewhere between 7 to 8 years now and have had great service with them, there based in Canada, but there tech support will call you at there cost and always do call, or reply no matter the question in my experience with them. I also had no problems using ultrahost for the three years I had another site running. : www.UltraHost.US both are pay for site providers, but you don't get the junk that way and ultrahost has sizes from 3.000 or so a month in cost and up HTH, elf . How do I get hold of Webvisum for FF 6? I have just downloaded FF and though it's working fine, I want to make it as accessible with JFW as possible. Couldn't find any related add-ins which I thought I would.

Application mode is invoked by JAWS because the page is coded as an application. This is done through HTML codes. Pressing numpad plus brings you back to virtual mode and makes the page readable. Hope this helps. Take care. Mike

Hi All,
On many pages using Jaws 10 and XP Pro, I'm running into the "app mode on" message from Jaws. This is happening particularly with PayPal and on my Wordpress site dashboard when editing content there. When I run into this issue, it's pretty much impossible to access a page and issue any commands, enter any text, etc.
Is there any way to keep "app mode" from appearing, even temporarily. I desperately need to get these website pages edited, and this is giving me a real headache.
Any tips, suggestions or fixes would be tremendously appreciated!
Many thanks in advance!

I have Jaws 12, but a few earlier versions of Jaws that I could probably use if neded, if that would give me more activations to work with.
Thanks!
Tom from Michigan

Re: [Bulk] Question on activation count
this is true, I have four in use in my home, but the last time I got a activation refill was 7 months ago, and I still had 4 machines then, so they haven't thrown a fit at me yet. a acquaintance of mine was getting that quirk with jaws where things were setting off the new authorization request before FS figured out it was there fault and got questioned big time on his frequent (3 times in a month I think it was) refill requests, and so did another gal I saw on a list who got two refills in 3 months and was requesting a third, this is extreme to them (she was updating her machine one piece at a time, so needed the replacements) Hope this helps, elf .
I have Jaws 12, but a few earlier versions of Jaws that I could probably use if neded, if that would give me more activations to work with.
Thanks!
Tom from Michigan

Re: Important: Disabling Application Mode in Jaws 10?
a bit behind here, but all you need do is hit the PC cursor key to disengage forms mode which is what I think you mean by the places your saying your getting the trouble. and it sounds like doing a repair on jaws would be a good thing as well.

What do I enter in the list box to get baseball scores? I tried Cubs, then chicago, and then blank, tabbed to MLB scores, and got no results.

Re: [Bulk] Adobe acrobat acessibility
Dave, in my experience I have seen and herd multiple times of two entirely different versions of each adobe version, one has accessibility turned on, the other has it off. I wouldn't have believed it but I got one of the "turned off" versions myself, and I downloaded it straight from adobe as an update! then after several complaints on one or two of the lists someone came up with this tidbit and a URL for the "accessibility on" version and all went well, I just wait for the new accessible link on the lists before I update. perchance this is what happened here? elf . Is it just me or is the newest version of Adobe acrobat reader inaccessible? I just started working with a company that deals heavily with adobe documents, both protected and not protected. I'm using the latest version of JFW with windows XP Pro, SP3. Thanks Loreal
