Re: 1 handed tutorial

Sticky key after press 5 times in a row and activated. Normal people hold
the shift+ a letter to capitalize it, but people with one can't, so instead
of using two hands to do this you can just press shift once and it will hold
it for you until you press the letter. Sticky key only works with shift,
ctrl, alt, and the windows button. When you press on thes buttons with a
certain amount of times it does different things. If you press it just once
it will just hold it until you press another button and that is it. if you
presss the button twice it will hold it for you like a second hand is
holding it down no matter how many buttons you press it will stil be held
down. Like if you want to find the browser you want to alt+tab to . you can
just activate the sticky key and press the alt button twice and then just
press tab until you get to the browser you want. If you press the button
three times it will unstick the button and the button will not be held down
agaibn. If you press two button at the same time, it will deactivate sticky
key.
You press the shift button until you get a window that say if you want to
activate sticky key. I believe it is 5 times in a row and you just press
enter on yes. You can also lock the insert button, but I forgot how. I just
set jaws to laptop layout and use the caps lock button as my insert button
instead. Let me know if you want to learn more.

Re: MSWord Thesaurus

Gary King

Judith,
If you want synonyms, the easiest way to find them is to place the MS Word cursor on the word of interest and either press the Application Key or Shift F10. In the resulting context menu,Down-Arrow to the Synonyms submenu and press Right-Arrow. Down-Arrow through the various synonyms and press Enter to replace the original word with your selected synonym. The Thesaurus is also on this submenu if you want to play around in there for some reason.

This is from the Dewitt and Associates training materials. Unfortunately,
Dewitt is no longer in business.

1. Press SHIFT + F7 to open the Research Pane with focus on the
Thesaurus. Press F6 to move to the Research Pane, located at the right edge
of the screen.
2. Explore the Research Pane using TAB. At the top of the pane,
the combo box will indicate that the current search is being done in the
Thesaurus.
3. TAB past the Search For Combo Boxes to the list box with the
heading "Thesaurus English" (not the previous combo box that contains
Thesaurus). This is a list of possible replacements for the selected word.
If the word to be replaced has many possible meanings, Word
2010 will group the synonyms by word type (nouns, verbs, etc.).
4. Navigate the Thesaurus List Box with TAB. Upon hearing a
suitable replacement, press SHIFT + F10 to open the Context Menu.
5. Use the DOWN ARROW Key to locate the Insert Option and press
ENTER. The replacement word will be substituted in place of the original
word. The Research Pane will remain open until manually closed or the
session is ended.

say all

Ngoc Ly <lyvanngoc@...>

Dear friends,

I am using JAWS Version 14, 0, 6005, 400 in window 7 OS, 32 bits.

When I open an email by Windows Live Mail Version 16.4.3508.0205 and use command of say all with insert+down arrow to read text, JAWS read with strange voice. It changes speed and frequency when it faces new text format such as bold, italic, link and etc.

In the same email, when I use ctl+down arrow to read by paragraph, jaws has no change in voice.

when I use say all function with the same keystroke in word documents, html documents and etc., jaws use the same voice. I remember voice change its voice in word documents when jaws hit text in comment pans.

My question is how to set say all function in window live mail to say the same voice as ctrl+down arrow function. Any helps will be appreciated.

Thank you very much

Re: FS support

Cy Selfridge

Tom,
The update I spoke of is for *Magic* only.
No news on more recent JAWS updates but I did hear that the second Beta
Release of JAWS 15 will be out in a couple of weeks.

This is indeed encouraging.

Please let us know when the proposed update comes out. I have a Dell laptop

at work that simply doesn't work as well as it should with Windows 7 and
Jaws 14, so I am looking for any updates to hopefully make it perform
better.

As everyone knows, I have been an often critic of FS and their customer
support.

I am pleased to report that FS has stetted up to the bat with an issue I
experienced with Magic.

It would crap out on my second laptop and Customer support tried to fix it
with no success.

The problem was escalated up the ladder and today I got a call (another
one)
and we downloaded the fix.

This will be part of an update probably next week in case anyone else has

Re: amazon Cloud Player

John Gurd

I really wanted to use the Amazon service not least because of the fac that
for the price you can match 250 thousand tracks. It's total lack of
accessibility forced me to go with the iTunes service which is very
accessible on condition you invest time in getting to grips with the iTunes
application. The downside is you can only match 25000 tracks. I have over
70000.

I can't find any of my files with Icloud, either, and I'm running JFW
14.0 on Win. 8. IT's terrible. I haven't found a way in my settings
to turn off the default to return to regular options. It seems to have
changed itself after I did some updates. Sometimes I find optionoptions on
the Amazon page to download my music directly to my PC, which I do through
Amazon MP3 player installer, but sometimes I don't see the option and lately
it goes straight to Cloud. Not good!
I've lost a lot of downloads and wasted purchases with it, so am banning
downloads for now from this increasingly cluttered site. I am determined to
find a way to fix this, too! So you're not alone!

Help needed, strange problem with Jaws11

Marion Woods <marion_woods38@...>

Hi all,

Running JFW11 with WinXP, it's been running great until today when I realised that the following had acurd.

When typing into a word document or starting a new message in Outlook express, the characters are echoed by Jaws, but Jaws does not read the displayed characters after the text has been entered. This does not happen in a simple text document using notebook. I tried a demo copy of JFW13 and it works fine, but I am reluctant to upgrade at the moment as JFW11 has been great with my WinXP 32bit ,, this only showed today after downloading the latest version of CCleaner, this maybe a coincidence, but any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Cy,
it’s always nice to see when something actually does get fixed.

FS tech support finally suggested I call them about the SMA count now showing correctly.

Today, I decided to do that, but first went to check on it in Jaws.

Son of a gun, it was showing the correct count.

Not sure what happened, but, at least, something went right today.

Hi Lee, I just tried it and it doesn't work on my machine. I'll play around
with it more but I can see how this keystroke would be invaluable to those
with only one available hand. Thanks again! Have to feed the dinosaurs!

Hello Prehistoric Judith, <grin>

Sticky keys means you can press a modifier key, such as shift, control, alt
(I think those are the only ones), and then a regular key and it'll come out
modified. For example, to type a capital B, which would be pretty awkward
using a regular keyboard, you press and release the shift key, then type b,
and it'll come out a capital B. The next key you press will not be modified
however.
