Re: Fw: Unable To Get Jaws Updates For Dell Lattitude 6510Windows7 Work Laptop

I downloaded the latest version of Jaws 14 directly from the Freedom Scientific web site, and then directly went to the help menu and the "check for updates" option.

I pressed enter on that, and followed the prompts. Ultimabely, this is when I got the message that a given update such as "What's new in Jaws 14" was not able to be downloaded.

Ok, that is odd. Are you trying to get the jaws training materials threw
the updater or jaws updates. If your trying to get updates for jaws your
best bet is to download and install the latest installer. If you install
from the disc and try and update you'll probably run into problems because
from what I've seen doing that, it doesn't want to work if the version is 2
or more newer then the first release. Hope this helps.

Yes, I re-bootted, but no joy.

Since the updates are supplementary to the main Jaws instalation, I may not
worry about them right now.

It's just strange that the regular install went in smoothly, unlike the
updates which I can't even download or install.

Hi, all.

I have successfully installed Jaws 14 on my Dell Lattitude 6510
Windows 7 work laptop, and have been able to configure the software
in line with my usual preferences.

My latest problem, though, is with downloading and installing the
Jaws updates which I'm supposedly entitled too.

If I go to the help menu and arrow up to "vcheck for updates, and hit
enter, I find that I'm entitled to five updates. However, when I get
the update list, and check the updates I want, I get a message saying
that the given updates cannot be downloaded. My internet connection
on the laptop is working fine. I've also tried to access each update
individually, with the same negative results.

I have not had this problem on either of the Windows XP machines I
have been working with over the past few days.

Am I missing a step here?

Could something be wrong with the Jaws update page on the Freedom
Scientific web site??

Thanks, David,
I expect you are right.

As long as FS knows I have paid for those SMA's that is what is important.

It just surprised me that it doesn't correctly reflect the number, even after running the update.

Ah, computers.

Hi, David,

If I missed the part about GMail, sorry about that. Here is an address with some information about setting up Eudora with GMail, both as pop3 and imap. Imap appears to keep messages on the server after they are deleted from your computer, which is supposed to be good but I don't like it.

This looks to me like it should work. I don't have a GMail account, though, so can't test.

Good luck!

Amazon cloud player and music download

Jerry hathaway

I am running windows XP, Jaws 10, and MS Office 2007. I am needing help with Amazon cloud player and music download. My computer crashed recently and I have been trying to get it back up and running with everything that was lost. One of the programs I lost was Amazon music downloader. If anybody has this program on their system I would like to get it again. I have reinstalled cloud player onto my system. When I try to run the program it only brings up buttons that do not have any explaination to them. It does not seem to launch player for some reason. I would appriciate any help with these two issues.

I can't give you a single keystroke, but this method works for me:

1. Place focus on the text link.

2. Press the applications key.

3. Arrow down or press s to "selectee hyperlink." Press enter.

4. This places the http... version of the link in the clipboard. Press control-v to paste where desired so that it can be read as such.

From what I know, with JAWS, you have to pay for each versionk you skipped.
With Open Book it is a flat cost of $150 to brihng your version up to snuff.
Hmm, interesting?

Cy,
I think you are speaking of keys, the number of times you can install Jaws.

I’m speaking of SMA’s, the actual upgrades you have paid for, which, in my case should be showing a count of 2 remaining.

I have paid for Jaws 15 and 16, but the SMA count that appears on my computer is 0.

I really do not know what FS’s policy is regarding skipping upgrades.

I have just always kept my computer current.

Hi Crystal,

SMA = Software Maintenance Agreement

Have you purchased SMA's for Jaws 15 or 16? If you have, then these advanced purchases of future versions of Jaws would show up in the SMA count. Are you thinking of the activation keys you have remaining for your currently installed versions of Jaws perhaps? If you want to see how many activation keys you have remaining follow the steps below.

From:

I posted a question to FS about how to determine the number of activation keys remaining. In case any of you wanted to find out, here are their instructions, verbatim:

Thank you for contacting Freedom Scientific Support.

We suggest going to FSACTIVATE.com

http://www.fsactivate.com
2. Click on the continue product activation button.
3. Down arrow to: Verify the number of activation keys available for your Freedom Scientific product and press enter.
4. Down arrow to serial number and again down arrow to edit.
Type in your JAWS serial number and press enter on the submit button.
5. Underneath the first seven digits of the authorization number, you will find the number of keys remaining.

If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Hi All,
I’m going to ask here about a problem I am having with Jaws 14.
I have contacted FS tech support, but, thus far, none of the suggestions
have worked.
I have the most current version of Jaws 14, using Windows 7.
I checked the About section in the Help menu, and it states that I have 0
SMA’s.
This is incorrect, and should show a count of 2.
I went to the update authorization and ran that.
Twice I did it, and each time it said it was successfu.
It sstill showed 0 SMA.
The last suggestion from FS was to disable the firewall, and run the
authorization process again.
I did that, too.
It still says 0 SMA.
Now, each time I have done the authorization, I have had to manually enter
the Jaws authorization code.
If anyone has encountered this, and fixed it, I would appreciate knowing
what you did.
Thanks.

Re: incorrect SMA count

Mario

if FS says you got so many SMAs left, that's what counts. so it's always a
good idea to give them a call if you're unsure. my 2 cents.

Hi Crystal,

SMA = Software Maintenance Agreement

Have you purchased SMA's for Jaws 15 or 16? If you have, then these
advanced purchases of future versions of Jaws would show up in the SMA
count. Are you thinking of the activation keys you have remaining for your
currently installed versions of Jaws perhaps? If you want to see how many
activation keys you have remaining follow the steps below.

From:
Farfar Carlson
I posted a question to FS about how to determine the number of activation
keys remaining. In case any of you wanted to find out, here are their
instructions, verbatim:

Thank you for contacting Freedom Scientific Support.

We suggest going to FSACTIVATE.com

http://www.fsactivate.com
2. Click on the continue product activation button.
3. Down arrow to: Verify the number of activation keys available for
your Freedom Scientific product and press enter.
4. Down arrow to serial number and again down arrow to edit.
Type in your JAWS serial number and press enter on the submit button.
5. Underneath the first seven digits of the authorization number, you
will find the number of keys remaining.

If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to contact
us.

Hi All,
I’m going to ask here about a problem I am having with Jaws 14.
Thanks.

Hello Loreal,

Somewhere the original intention got lost. Where I have trouble is when I'm
scheduling a meeting, and I need to look at the available time slots for the

invitees, and pick the best meeting time to match most or all of their
available times.

I've managed in the past to see who is coming and who is not, so your
explanation for that is about the same that I do for Outlook 2007.

I think you said earlier that you are able to look at other invitees/
schedules and that is the part I cannot do.

OK everyone,

Outlook 2010 how to view whether people have accepted your meeting or not:

1. select the appointment in your outlook calendar and enter on it.
2. Press the alt key, and left or right arrow through the virtual ribbon
until you hear "Meeting."
3. Press enter here..
4. Use your up and down arrows until you find the "Show" submenu.
5. Enter on this.
. Arrow down until you find: "Tracking" or "Tracking info."
7. Enter on this.
8. Now you should be able to arrow up and down through your attendees and
see who has accepted, declined, etc.
