Subject: Need To Find Applications Key Or Equivalent On Dell Lattitude E6510Windows 7 Laptop

Hi, everyone.

Well, I'm continuing to work to get Jaws 14 installed on my work laptop. It is a Dell Lattitude E6510 Windows 7 laptop.

I have the program successfully installed, and want to do some additional tweaking, such as appending the program to my start menu, and setting up a shortcut key.

However, I can't find the applications key on this particular laptop.

I even had my sighted wife look for it, and she couldn't find it either.

Has anyone on the list ever used one of these computers?

If so, can you tell me where the applications key, or an equivalent key, might be?

Thanks!

Dr. Tom Behler from Michigan

OK everyone,

Outlook 2010 how to view whether people have accepted your meeting or not:

1. select the appointment in your outlook calendar and enter on it.
2. Press the alt key, and left or right arrow through the virtual ribbon until you hear "Meeting."
3. Press enter here..
4. Use your up and down arrows until you find the "Show" submenu.
5. Enter on this.
. Arrow down until you find: "Tracking" or "Tracking info."
7. Enter on this.
8. Now you should be able to arrow up and down through your attendees and see who has accepted, declined, etc.

Hi,
Actually, I am having the same problem. However, someone has watched the screen when the computer boots up and they said that Jaws is loaded. I, basically, have to quit Jaws and reload it again, for some reason. I am using Windows XP and Jaws 11. I wish that I could straighten the problem out.
Blessings and All the Very Best, Pat

When I turn my computer on, jaws does not start up first, even though the
box is checked in basics.
It does not present a log on screen either.
I still, have to do alt control J 2 or 3 times for it to start.
I think it takes several minutes.
What is going on?

From the spacebar, do you have three keys when you move to the right?
If so, they should be alt, applications key and the ctrL Key.
If not, shift f 10 will ield same results as pressing the applications key.

Suddenly Jaws takes 4 mins to startup

Jim L

Heya folks,

Am running Jaws 11 on an XP machine, have had no issues up till yesterday
morning where computer starts up fine hearing the intro music in the usual
time but from yesterday morning there's now a wait of just over 4 minutes
when Jaws finally decides to load up for me. I've done a virus scan,
registry clean and also a defrag and this hasn't fix it and there was no
virus's or melware on my PC. I then tried Jaws 14 and it does the exact same
of a delayed Jaws starting up.

Can anyone help me with what this could be? I haven't installed anything new
the day before and once Jaws does load everything else seems normal again,
PC speed is great and internet surfing normal, I'm just lost what this could
be, I've even checked the startup items on my PC and nothings changed there
either.

Any help will be appreciated.

Cheers,

Jim

From the spacebar, do you have three keys when you move to the right?
If so, they should be alt, applications key and the ctrL Key.
If not, shift f 10 will ield same results as pressing the applications key.

Windows 7 Laptop

Hi, everyone.

Well, I'm continuing to work to get Jaws 14 installed on my work laptop. It
is a Dell Lattitude E6510 Windows 7 laptop.

I have the program successfully installed, and want to do some additional
tweaking, such as appending the program to my start menu, and setting up a
shortcut key.

However, I can't find the applications key on this particular laptop.

I even had my sighted wife look for it, and she couldn't find it either.

Has anyone on the list ever used one of these computers?

If so, can you tell me where the applications key, or an equivalent key,
might be?

Thanks!

Dr. Tom Behler from Michigan

You need to use Shift+F10. there is no application key -- I have the

I only have the alt and control key to the right of the space bar.

However, shift f10 does work in place of the applications key, so I'm all set once again.

I'll make a note of this for future reference.

Thank you!

Yes, there are headers, just too many. I counted 9 times hitting h to
take me to the body of your reply. Then, I tried a header list and
arrowed through that. I guess I miss outlook express where you just
opened the email message and it popped you into the body of the email.
Replying to gmail is cumbersome as well, hitting the tab key or arrow
key until you find the body of the email, and when you do find it, you
are at the bottom of the text. So, to please those who prefer to see
the new text at the top and their old message after my new text, I
ctrl-home to put the cursor at the top of the body of the message.

Also, gmail doesn't include all the previous messages in the thread
when you first open a message someone has replied to. To see the full
text, there is a "show original" button, but, when you use it, a new
window opens with all the gibberish marking the line breaks and
whatever all that other stuff is I don't need to hear.

Attaching stuff is cumbersome too. I save music recordings from
chorus rehersal on my digital voice recorder, and sometimes will send
a few tracks to someone who missed a rehersal. I always end up
hitting "send" before getting the attachment attached. The prompts
for gmail with jaws are just not very intuitive.

Hi all,

Does anyone have any suggestions on reading the gmail more
efficiently? I have been jumping to a line but depending on how many
people are in the address line or how long the subject line is, or a
host of other stuff that differs from message to message, the first
line of the body of the email differs. Thus, I hear stuff I don't
need to hear before the first line of the body of the email, or, I
jump past the first line. Using "find" helps sometimes, but it would
be nice to have a placemarker that could be used with some
consistency.

Thanks,
Brian
