Re: [Bulk] Question on activation count

Dave...

Gerald,

I think the initial install of JAWS 8 from your CD to a clean drive would of
course consume an activation. However updating to JAWS 9 with JAWS 8 already
installed an activated should not consume an activation.

On a related subject, here's something I have been wondering about. I
originally installed JAWS 8 on my computer with the CD, and upgraded to JAWS
9 from the FS web site, because my original SMA allowed for one version
upgrade. JAWS 9 is currently my default version. Suppose my hard drive
failed and after a new hard drive is installed along with the Windows OS, I
reinstall JAWS 8 again using the CD. Would I still be able to upgrade to
JAWS 9 again under the original SMA? Or would JAWS 9 run only in demo mode
after I install it again from the FS web site? I assume that I would need
at least two activations to reinstall JAWS 8 and then JAWS 9. I'm asking
this just in case.

Hi, all.

I'm between computers here, and have a question about Jaws activation
counts.

I know I could call FS about this, but figured I might get a quicker
answer
from the list.

Regarding activations, does a single-license Jaws user like myself have a
given number of activations for each separate version of Jaws, or is the
allotted number of 3 activations constant across all versions of Jaws
collectively?

I am getting a couple of new computers set up for both office and home,
and

am trying to figure out how best to proceed, while still keeping an older
Windows XP machine around as a back-up in case that is needed as well.

I have Jaws 12, but a few earlier versions of Jaws that I could probably
use if neded, if that would give me more activations to work with.

Thanks!

Tom from Michigan

Re: [Bulk] JAWS and Negativity

Dave...

Spence,

You're absolutely right. However many of these aspects that you cite have
been part of JAWS a few major revisions back.

However the more irritating point is that in subsequent major and minor
revisions, that functions and applications that used to work stop working.

Follow that with the focus tends to be adding new whiz-bang features instead
of fixing what they broke.

Well you have to understand that I get a little testy about that.

No doubt JAWS is very helpful and very necessary -- but also very critical
to our lives and jobs and it cannot be compromised with sloppy software
quality control.

I note you are using high contrast settings, and I think even if you have
professional equipment you will have problem with xp, I used to get around
it by running lunar a product from another stable, I find using windows 7
it is much easier. I have actually removed lunar from my xp laptop just
take care not to use high contrast, the laptop has little resources but has
kept going for over 6years and as it is a secondary machine just put up
with it, is there a reason you need high contrast settings I wonder regards

Subject: Jaws 12 question - Jaws unresponsive to keystrokes while in folder
and link lists

Hi people, my apologies if this has already been asked.
I recently upgraded from Jaws 11 pro to Jaws 12 pro. I am operating on xp
professional and use high contrast settings.

One of the first things I noticed with Jaws 12 is that when I am in a folder

list in say outlook Jaws continues with its narrative even when I press the
letter of the folder I wish to go to such as J for junk email. This happens
on all applications and is of particular annoyance when I use f7 on the net
to bring up the links list. When I hit a key to find a certain link Jaws
still continues to read the link it is on and shows no haste in updating to
the new link.

I can get around this by using the control key to silence Jaws then I can
hit the first letter of the link or folder I want and this does the trick
however it is an extreme annoyance and slows things down for me.

Does anyone know of a fix for this or is this just a new feature on Jaws 12
and I am stuck with it.

I have all the latest Jaws 12 updates on my system so as far as I know there

is no outstanding update available to help.

I sent a request to Freedom Scientific however have not heard back thus far.

Thanks kindly
Murray

Re: [Bulk] ITunes again

Dave...

Kimsan,

Stick with 10.3 and just delete the library file from your My Documents
folder. Mine was in the "My Music" subfolder.

ITunes will just create a new library file when you next launch it.

Loreal and Nickus are successful in using 10.4 on their systems with or
without the scripts, but most of the beta testers have had serious problems
with 10.4 and the latest scripts on Windows 7 in particular. That's why I'm
steering you away from that for now. Like me, you want to use ITunes, and
not test new script code.

Does this work ok with Jaws 12 (latest update)? As far as everyone knows.
I wondered if I might sort out some of my jaws issues if I tried
something
other than IE as my browser. I know firefox 6 has come out today and I
wasn't sure to get that or not because of it being the latest version I
didn't know how stable that would be with jaws either.
Any thoughts on Chrome or Firefox 6 would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Lol, how come that always happens to me? Lol. What I mean is I post the
question then I find the answer.
I followed these instructions and they worked. To display or remove the
Developer tab, click the Office button > Word Options . In Word 2007, the
"switch" was in the Popular section, but in Word 2010
you need to click on Customize Ribbon (read more on
customizing the ribbon).

show-developer-tab-in-word-2010

Ensure that the box next to Developer is checked. As soon as you click OK,
the Developer tab will magically appear (there is no need to close and
restart.
Sorry yall for the email.

1. Start the application.

2. Click the File tab.

3. Click Options.

4. In the categories pane, click Customize Ribbon.

5. In the list of main tabs, select Developer.

6. Click OK to close the Options dialog box.

list end

I followed the instructions down to the t and the developer ribbon is not
showing. So, those of whom are using word 2010, what am I doing wrong?

Any help would be appreciated
