Re: a dumb question

I have tried the F1 key but it brings up the full windows 8 help files but
if I remember correctly, there was a help menu specifically setup for
outlook in prior versions of office.
I did read somewhere there is a question mark somewhere in the upper right
hand corner of the screen, but I can't seem to access it.
As far as this being a dumb question, I did notice it got some answers,
sarcasm or not; all answers are always appreciated.

At the risk of asking a stupid question, will JAWS work under Linux. I think I made some inquiries about that years ago. I know most mainstream apps will work with the help of an add-on. I'm sure many of you know what I'm speaking of, but I can't remember the name right now--Bootcamp?

You have. There is no such thing as a password folder. It's a series of three files which must be in sync in order for everything to work correctly. Yes, there are ways to do it usin the install disk, but if you want to do it yourself and have speech access to the process, the best way is still Linux.

Re: Windows Live Mail

David Bailes

Hi Jean,
The accessibility of windows live mail on windows 8 is the same as it is on windows 7. It's not ideal, but it's quite usable. It supports both pop3 and imap, and you can use a gmail account.
There's a jaws guide to windows live mail 2011 available here:
http://goo.gl/mnHqJ
Note that the current version of windows live mail is in fact 2012, but the differences between the 2011 and 2012 versions are only very minor differences in the ribbons.

The best and most accessible way of doing this that I know is via
Linux and a program called CHNTPW. Luckily, it works on anything from
XP through 7. Don't know about 8, but Vista, which is right there in
the middle, should be OK.

Re: JAWS compatibility with ultra-book convertibles

William Sallander <wsallander@...>

It would depend on which operating system the ultra-book would be using.
anything in Windows should be okay; you would have to install Jaws from a
USB drive if the machine does not have a CD-ROM or downloading direct from
Freedom Scientific, you can open the program and have it install immediately
after downloading.
Hope this make sense and hope this helps.

Best product, hands down, Image for Windows
(http://www.terabyteunlimited.com). You can even customize something
to make the image restore part work with speech if you're handy with
slipstreaming technology.

Hi Everyone,

I am looking for a system image /backup and anti virus software solution compatible with JAWS and Windows 8.
I have asked people who recommended Norton Ghost, but on investigation it is not compatible with Windows 8.
Also, I have used Avast in the past for a anti virus solution, so I'm just curious is there anything better?

I am seeking this information because I am purchasing a new laptop for my Masters programme and I want to future proof it.

Any information /suggestions are very welcome.

Kind regards,

Niall
