What is happening with Jaws here?
Robert Logue <bobcat11@...>
The shortcut is to a youtube video but the problem is how Jaws is reading the text below from one of the comments. micro synths Go to the s in "synths and press right arrow. Sometimes I get astrisk, sometimes percent, question, pound, or the andsymbol. Pres left than right arrow again and Jaws reads a different symbol. If punctuation is set to read some or more, the up and down arrows also read a different character at the end of synths every time. Even in the text I copied above from the web page into this message. Jaws says the character is 65279 which I think is way out of range. I don't understand charactor sets and how Jaws and different text editors give different results when reading them. For example: Jarte often converts symbols like ' apostrophe into all sorts of weird symbols that other text editors read as '. Hi George, Yes. They will definitely help. I have already looked into it, and things will be fine when I do transfer next year. This past year was a bit messy because I just rushed into college. So, I ended up taking classes with this dude, who does not believe in technology. Let's just say that he is old school. However, I still manage to have my assignments in a way that I could accomplish it. I did use Openbook, DocuScan and Kurzweil, but I didn't like how they worked, so now I am just asking questions about both Abby Fine Reader and Omnipage Pro. They seem affordable enough, so I might buy them in the near future. As I explained before, the software I currently use, it's property of my current college, so it will have to stay when I transfer. Thus, the interest in scanning software. Anyway, thanks for all who have helped in this discussion, A

Hi Dave, Thanks very much. I already have Kurzweil from my college, but I was sort of interested in both products. I did look up the price, and you are right. There are pretty good deals. I found both products at $69.99, which is pretty good. What I am wondering now is which one is better? Does anyone know whether there are some podcasts on Abby Fine Reader and Omnipage Pro? I might end up getting either one of them, but I would like to know which product is best. If anyone can let me know, it would be very much appreciate it. Thanks, A On 6/3/2013 8:32 AM, Dave Durber wrote:

Hi, You could get OpenBook from Freedom Scientific. Then you have Kurzweil 1000.
Lastly, you have DocuScan. You will find that DocuScan is more affordable. I
believe their are trials for all three of them, so you could try them before
buying. Hope this helps, A On 6/2/2013 9:26 AM, Barbara Corner wrote:

Hi All.
I have alwaysed used Google and had little problems with that.
Recently, however, I am finding it takes longer and longer to search and open links. I press a key and Jaws takes 3 4 5 seconds to respond. Sometimes even longer.
I have tried using Ask.com which is slightly faster, but doesn't list links in the same way as google.
Could anyone explain what the problem might be?
I am using Jaws 13 with Windows xp.
Many thanks.

However, the errors themselves often follow a pattern, so that redundant ones can often be cleaned up by a search-replace operation,.

Also, I honestly believe that setting the scanner to black and white only helps with accuracy. My ancient HP flatbed scanner was black and white only and it was a lot more accurate than what I have today. I have a small portable Cassio USB scanner which does a very good job and is probably better than my HP all in one jobbie. Cy

The other things nice about ABBYY Finereader and Omnibook Pro is the price. $70 or $80 is a whole whale of a lot cheaper than the $900 or so for OpenBook. (LOLLOLLOL) Cy

Ariel:
The nice thing I like about ABBY Fine Reader, is that you can scan a document and, have the program automatically open Word and, display the text from the converted scanned images to a formatted Word document on the screen.

Hi Dave, Thanks very much. I already have Kurzweil from my college, but I was
sort
of interested in both products. I did look up the price, and you are
right. There are pretty good deals. I found both products at $69.99,
which
is pretty good. What I am wondering now is which one is better? Does
anyone know whether there are some podcasts on Abby Fine Reader and Omnipage Pro? I might end up getting either one of them, but I would
like
to know which product is best. If anyone can let me know, it would be very
much appreciate it. Thanks, A On 6/3/2013 8:32 AM, Dave Durber wrote:

Go to Google.com or bing.com, or whichever search engine you like and
type in the search edit box, for example:

You should get a list of sites selling either program, many of which will
have good discounts.

Hi, You could get OpenBook from Freedom Scientific. Then you have
Kurzweil
1000.
Lastly, you have DocuScan. You will find that DocuScan is more affordable. I
believe their are trials for all three of them, so you could
try
them
before
buying. Hope this helps, A On 6/2/2013 9:26 AM, Barbara Corner
