Re: JAWS 14.0.3005 - Comments

Dave...

Gerald, as long as you're not tabbed into a particular day, let's say
focused on an appointment at 9:30 AM, it does work fine. but try it when you
are focused on a particular time and it will crash.

It only works if you are focused on the weekday itself and not on an actual
appointment.

Jean,

I was very sorry to read you'd broken your wrist in an earlier post, and I hope you recover soon.

I recommend CathyAnne Murtha's textbooks on Outlook, Word and Windows operating systems and David Bailes' materials on Windows operating systems.
If I sound less than specific, it's because I used their materials on Office
2010 (CathyAnne) and Windows 7 (CathyAnne and David). Both have since published guides for Windows 8, and CathyAnne has new textbooks on Outlook
2013 and Word 2013.

I made the switch just as 2013 was being released and before I could get reliable opinions about its accessibility. I have since read in various places that it is very accessible, possibly more even than Office 2010, which I am now used to. However, I'd been advised by visually impaired and sighted users alike to avoid Windows 8. Marketing numbers show that Windows
8 is getting the reception that Vista did, while Windows 7 should endure the way XP did.

CathyAnne charges for her textbooks, but they are thorough and well thought out. David's explanation of Windows 7 added information I didn't find in CathyAnne's books, and vice-versa. David and his organization do not charge.

CathyAnne's website is
http://www.google.com/search?site=&source=hp&q=cathyanne%2C+ati&oq=cathyanne

David previously posted links to his three Windows 8 guides on this list.
They are as follows:

Search pane guide:
http://goo.gl/wnKaZ

Taskbar guide, which covers the taskbar buttons and the notification area:

Outlook Express to Outlook 2013. I'm struggling with this change. E.g., I'm typing this but can't read back my text. Help with views, settings, contacts, etc., please.

Word 2003 to Word 2013. Haven't looked at this yet, but I expect major changes.

Windows XP to Windows 8. Wow. Are there any recommended settings here?

Again, any getting started tips are most appreciated. More later . Still recovering from a broken wrist, so my typing tolerance is limited here.

Microsoft OneNote now blind accessible

John Martyn <johnrobertmartyn@...>

As we near the middle of 2013, Do It Blind is ecstatic to announce a new
script! We have been working long and hard on OneNote by Microsoft. We now
have OneNote Blind! OneNote is a word processing program included in many
of the Microsoft Office packages. It is a great alternative to Word and has
many different features which make life easy. In a nutshell, OneNote is a
virtual notebook. You can create different notebooks, sections within the
notebook, and pages within the sections. It is a phenomenal tool to
organize thoughts, letters, and projects all in one program and all
accessible from one screen. You no longer have to open up several word
documents and switch back and forth. With OneNote, everything is on the
same screen. Because of the amazing features, we decided to script OneNote
and create OneNote Blind. It is now fully accessible to the visually
impaired and blind users! We are absolutely positive this will be a
tremendous tool for blind people. It is easy to navigate through notebooks,
sections, and pages. You can scroll through all of your notes with just the
touch of the tab key. We are confident OneNote Blind will make your life
easier and make your notes more organized and easy to access.

Please visit the site at:

upgrades.

Outlook Express to Outlook 2013. I'm struggling with this change. E.g., I'm
typing this but can't read back my text. Help with views, settings,
contacts, etc., please.

Word 2003 to Word 2013. Haven't looked at this yet, but I expect major
changes.

Windows XP to Windows 8. Wow. Are there any recommended settings here?

Again, any getting started tips are most appreciated. More later . Still
recovering from a broken wrist, so my typing tolerance is limited here.
Please understand if I don't reply immediately.

Jean,

I was very sorry to read you'd broken your wrist in an earlier post, and I
hope you recover soon.

I recommend CathyAnne Murtha's textbooks on Outlook, Word and Windows
operating systems and David Bailes' materials on Windows operating systems.
If I sound less than specific, it's because I used their materials on Office
2010 (CathyAnne) and Windows 7 (CathyAnne and David). Both have since
published guides for Windows 8, and CathyAnne has new textbooks on Outlook
2013 and Word 2013.

I made the switch just as 2013 was being released and before I could get
reliable opinions about its accessibility. I have since read in various
places that it is very accessible, possibly more even than Office 2010,
which I am now used to. However, I'd been advised by visually impaired and
sighted users alike to avoid Windows 8. Marketing numbers show that Windows
8 is getting the reception that Vista did, while Windows 7 should endure the
way XP did.

CathyAnne charges for her textbooks, but they are thorough and well thought
out. David's explanation of Windows 7 added information I didn't find in
CathyAnne's books, and vice-versa. David and his organization do not charge.

CathyAnne's website is
http://www.google.com/search?site=&source=hp&q=cathyanne%2C+ati&oq=cathyanne
%2C+ati&gs_l=hp.3...1068.12967.0.13692.16.15.1.0.0.0.99.999.15.15.0...0.0...
1c.1.12.hp.kTkl2H79MCA

David previously posted links to his three Windows 8 guides on this list.
They are as follows:

Search pane guide:

Taskbar guide, which covers the taskbar buttons and the notification area:

I hope no one responds directly to this very doubtful offer. Dave is right.
You'd be asking for trouble.

Are you kidding? If this is a serious offer for employment, then you first
need to proofread your own message, and secondly need to provide some
credentials besides your e-mail.

I would not give you anything more than what is in my signature line with
such an open-ended invitation to identity theft as this one.

Proofreader who uses a screenreader such as JAWS is needed for to proofread
5 short documents. Review the documents to make sure they are accessible
with the screenreader.

Possibility for on-going work.

Reply with some information about you. Rate to be determined.

Thanks!
