Re: Has anyone had success with using jaws with webvisum?
Charles Krugman
I have had no major issues using it with both Jaws 13 and JAWS 14. The only issue that I had is that after the announcement that if you prompts to close messages using the space bar before having the captcha copied to the clipboard an extra space willresult sometimes chopping off the last character of the solved captcha.

HI, Rodney:

oh, cool, I didn't have the Classic shell explained well to me. IT was installed by a computer tech at work who suggested it. I have litel use for the tiles, which are where the people, mail, news and such appear if you arrowthrough them. I simply don't use much of that. I have Vista and never upgraded to seven, as I didn't feel like putting the money into the upgrade and was okay with Vista after being stuck with it for four years and went straight for Win. 8. I just didn't know if it'd wipe out my entire harddrive as fresh, nd had nobody to ask about it at the time, so was kind of nervous about it. , as I was already in the midst of buying a new desktop, something I'd never had before. . I"d been using Windows XP forever that was given to me for college years to go and it finally seen its day. I liked XP's layout the best but am also used to Win. 8 at this rate. I was really behind the times and knew it. I was just lazy to be honest. I'm normally mostly on top of things with technology but in the recent months, have decided mostly if it works well still, why spend more money for an upgrade that's going to change so fast? I never used Window Eyes before. That's probably why NVDA throws me through a loop. I find JAWS clearer to my ear, as I'm used to it. But each to his own. Jen

Re: does jaws work with windows 8.

Hi Jen,
concerning much tabbing. On a ribbon tab you can use ctrl+right arrow and control+left arrow to move between the groups of controls on a tab. So if you know or guess which group a control is in, this can greatly reduce the number of tabs to move to a control. More details about the ribbon in file explorer in windows 8 can be found in the ribbon section of this guide: http://goo.gl/MlFuf David. original message: yes, but only with the professional version, which his what I have. IT is pretty proficient and there are a vfew shortcut keys to locate foldres and such,j and unfortunately without the use of a mouse, much tabbing involved in the menus. I'm used to it now and it's a little slower but it does work. I'm learning the ropes on it, to. Win. 8 is new to me.. Jen

Re: Downloading and Saving attachments in Windows 8 Mail
David Bailes
Hi Gilbert,
On my computer, in the list of messages Jaws says if there is an attachment. Also, there is a button for save/open before the message. Are you using the latest version of windows 8 mail and Jaws 14? Windows 8 apps are updated in the store, not by the usual windows update. If you open then store, then if there are updates and you press tab, you're taken to an updates link, and if you open this you're taken to a page where you can update apps. Unfortunately, Jaws does not read the updates link. You can either press tab and enter and see where you end up, or alternatively temporarily use the narrator screen reader, which does read this link. To turn narrator on, press windows key + enter, and to turn it off, press caps lock + esc. You don't have to turn jaws off when you do this. David. original message: Does anyone know how to download and save attachments with Windows 8 Mail? I have some email with an attachment, but the attachment will not show. The attachment doesn’t show in the virtual window, and when I tab through the controls, Jaws does not announce the attachment anywhere through my tabbing cycle. When I tab, I here the list box containing the various folders, then the list box containing my messages, then new, then delete, then respond, then there is a button labeled with who the sender is, then another button with my name, and then the virtual window from which I can read the message, but no attachment window. What do I do? Gilbert Neiva

i can't change the amount of skype credit i want to buy
carlos g <dal747@...>
Hi folks,
I'm Carlos. I am running jaws 13 version 1006 on an xp machine and a windows 7 net book. I just went to www.skype.com because I needed to buy some skype credit for my account. I haven't used skype very much lately and i guess there have been some changes. I went to billing then buy skype credit. and it gave me a table with the amount of $10.00 dollars. and a 0.00 vat a total of $10.00. I also should say i have another screen reader window eyes and i tried it with jaws 13 and window eyes 6.1 and 7.5.4.1. I could not change the amount of $10.00 dollars using both screen readers and my xp machine and my windows net book. I tried looking in to google and found one posting by someone also using a screen reader with the same problem, but there was no resolution the that post. so since i know there are a lot of skype users out there any help would be appreciated. Also if any one can help with the best settings for using skype with screen readers i would appreciate it. or are there any pod casts or good web tutorials. Thanks. Before you used win8 did you use win7? Where did you download the classic start? I went to ninite.com to get the classic start and when I installed it it automatically set it up to look like win7. Anything I had on the desktop stayed You can go through the settings and also make it look like windows xp I will have to turn on the win8 compute later to see how it put everything.. I am still learning the terms, I am assuming that the tiles is what I see when I first log into windows where I can type a in the edit box to locate something, well if you are navigating through the start menu and locate start screen it shows those tiles but if you hit the start menu again the tiles go away. I am so used to win7 so I find it it is easier to find what I am looking for. But all the programs you had with the tiles and charms and now in the classic start menu. I hope I am explaining this correctly. But as far as NVDA, it is much clearer then it used to be and I find that the keystrokes are a combination between jaws and window eyes. But since I do have so many computers I use jaws on my primary computer which is the one I am on now. rodney
