Re: Has anyone had success with using jaws with webvisum?

Charles Krugman

I have had no major issues using it with both Jaws 13 and JAWS 14. The only issue that I had is that after the announcement that if you prompts to close messages using the space bar before having the captcha copied to the clipboard an extra space willresult sometimes chopping off the last character of the solved captcha.

Hi list members, I'd like to know if anyone has had success either using webvisum with any version of jaws from version 11 to the latest version? What have you found that works for you in terms of any webvisum commands? Thank you for any information that you might have.

Re: does jaws work with windows 8.

Jennifer Tissot

HI, Rodney:

oh, cool, I didn't have the Classic shell explained well to me. IT was
installed by a computer tech at work who suggested it. I have litel
use for the tiles, which are where the people, mail, news and such
appear if you arrowthrough them. I simply don't use much of that.

I have Vista and never upgraded to seven, as I didn't feel like
putting the money into the upgrade and was okay with Vista after being
stuck with it for four years and went straight for Win. 8. I just
didn't know if it'd wipe out my entire harddrive as fresh, nd had
nobody to ask about it at the time, so was kind of nervous about it.
, as I was already in the midst of buying a new desktop, something
I'd never had before. . I"d been using Windows XP forever that was
given to me for college years to go and it finally seen its day. I
liked XP's layout the best but am also used to Win. 8 at this rate. I
was really behind the times and knew it. I was just lazy to be honest.
I'm normally mostly on top of things with technology but in the
recent months, have decided mostly if it works well still, why spend
more money for an upgrade that's going to change so fast?
I never used Window Eyes before. That's probably why NVDA throws me
through a loop. I find JAWS clearer to my ear, as I'm used to it. But
each to his own.

Re: does jaws work with windows 8.

David Bailes

Hi Jen,
concerning much tabbing. On a ribbon tab you can use ctrl+right arrow and control+left arrow to move between the groups of controls on a tab. So if you know or guess which group a control is in, this can greatly reduce the number of tabs to move to a control.
More details about the ribbon in file explorer in windows 8 can be found in the ribbon section of this guide:

Re: Downloading and Saving attachments in Windows 8 Mail

David Bailes

Hi Gilbert,
On my computer, in the list of messages Jaws says if there is an attachment. Also, there is a button for save/open before the message.
Are you using the latest version of windows 8 mail and Jaws 14?
Windows 8 apps are updated in the store, not by the usual windows update.
If you open then store, then if there are updates and you press tab, you're taken to an updates link, and if you open this you're taken to a page where you can update apps.
Unfortunately, Jaws does not read the updates link. You can either press tab and enter and see where you end up, or alternatively temporarily use the narrator screen reader, which does read this link.
To turn narrator on, press windows key + enter, and to turn it off, press caps lock + esc. You don't have to turn jaws off when you do this.

David.

Does anyone know how to download and save attachments with Windows 8 Mail? I have some email with an attachment, but the attachment will not show. The attachment doesn’t show in the virtual window, and when I tab through the controls, Jaws does not announce the attachment anywhere through my tabbing cycle. When I tab, I here the list box containing the various folders, then the list box containing my messages, then new, then delete, then respond, then there is a button labeled with who the sender is, then another button with my name, and then the virtual window from which I can read the message, but no attachment window. What do I do?

Hi All,

Does anyone know of a way to perform door prize drawings in electronic
format? I guess what I am asking. Is there any software you can use on a
computer that is accessible with JAWS to use for drawings such at a large
state convention? Looking for a way that would be more creditable than the
old way of having names on a piece of paper and someone drawing the name

Hi folks,
I'm Carlos.
I am running jaws 13 version 1006 on an xp machine and a windows 7 net book.
I just went to www.skype.com because I needed to buy some skype credit for my account.
I haven't used skype very much lately and i guess there have been some changes.
I went to billing then buy skype credit.
and it gave me a table with the amount of $10.00 dollars.
and a 0.00 vat a total of $10.00.
I also should say i have another screen reader window eyes and i tried it with jaws 13 and window eyes 6.1 and 7.5.4.1.
I could not change the amount of $10.00 dollars using both screen readers and my xp machine and my windows net book.
I tried looking in to google and found one posting by someone also using a screen reader with the same problem,
but there was no resolution the that post.
so since i know there are a lot of skype users out there any help would be appreciated.
Also if any one can help with the best settings for using skype with screen readers i would appreciate it.
or are there any pod casts or good web tutorials.
Thanks.
Carlos

Door Prize Drawings

Steve & Shannon Cook <cookcafe@...>

Hi All,

Does anyone know of a way to perform door prize drawings in electronic
format? I guess what I am asking. Is there any software you can use on a
computer that is accessible with JAWS to use for drawings such at a large
state convention? Looking for a way that would be more creditable than the
old way of having names on a piece of paper and someone drawing the name
from the bucket. Thanks in advance!

Steve

I have tried NVDA but find the irritating and hard to understand and
the keystrikes a little little complex than I like. Also, I was able
to load the same Jaws disk without buyihng multiple copies to put onto
my laptop and desktop, one running 32 bit, the other 64 bit but both
Win. 8. I honestly had the Classic Shell installed but didn't know how
to use it. I tried reinstalling and wonder if I did it right, since
the normal tiles don't show up anymore when loading my desktop. do you
know what I mean? They only show up when I do certain files, but can'
can't nail down the specifics of how to access them when on this
desktop mode. Is this normal or is esthe tiles as before. Even the
serach search charm disappeared when trying to put Claasiic Classic
Shell on . IS this normal forfunctionality or did something bad happen
to my desktop?

On one of my computers I have windows 8 pro 64 bit and I installed it,
however on that computer I am not using jaws, can not afford to put jaws
on
all my machines.
So I am using NVDA on it and works well, was wondering if anyone has tried
it with jaws

yes, but only with the professional version, which his what I have. IT
is pretty proficient and there are a vfew shortcut keys to locate
foldres and such,j and unfortunately without the use of a mouse, much
tabbing involved in the menus. I'm used to it now and it's a little
slower but it does work. I'm learning the ropes on it, to. Win. 8 is
new to me..

Insert A doesn’t work. It just says “a” when I press insert A.

I don't know if this will work as I do not know Windows 8 mail, but am using windows 8 with Outlook 2013. Have you tried insert plus a and then arrowing left or right to find out the attachments? This seems to work for me.

Sincerely,

Lauren Sincerely,

Does anyone know how to download and save attachments with Windows 8 Mail? I have some email with an attachment, but the attachment will not show. The attachment doesn’t show in the virtual window, and when I tab through the controls, Jaws does not announce the attachment anywhere through my tabbing cycle. When I tab, I here the list box containing the various folders, then the list box containing my messages, then new, then delete, then respond, then there is a button labeled with who the sender is, then another button with my name, and then the virtual window from which I can read the message, but no attachment window. What do I do?

Re: Outlook 2010 reminders inaccessible with iCloud installed for i-phone synching?

No, but you can do it by going to www.icloud.com and logging on and it is
all accessable there

Subject: Outlook 2010 reminders inaccessible with iCloud installed for
i-phone synching?

Dear List members,

Can anyone confirm if they have the 'dismiss', 'dismiss-all' and
'snooze'
buttons accessible within Outlook 2010 using JAWS 14 when they have the
Windows Apple I-Cloud software installed?

If I disable the 'iCloud' Outlook add-in, these 'reminder' buttons
become
accessible again by tabbing to them, but with the add-in enabled, those
buttons are not reachable by any tabbing with JAWS.

The i-Cloud synchronisation function of i-phone
reminders/contacts/appointments all seem to work fine, but
synchronising the
reminders becomes pointless if I can't access them on the Outlook
panel.

Surely I'm not the first trying to sync my i-phone to a Windows 7
system
using Outlook like this?

New list member, so sorry for duplicating this as my earlier posting I
suspect was a bit vague.

Regards,

Brian
