the documents list
Ann Byrne
Tabbing to the documents list in Windows 7, I see all my folders followed by the documents. So far, so good. but when I enter the first few characters of a document name, instead of the cursor moving to the document beginning with those characters, I am put into a search window. Obviously I have tweaked something, but I haven't a clue what. Tabbing, I have the 'name' split button, which has been displayed forever, and nothing that looks strange. but first letter navigation should take me to a document in the list instead of into a search box.
Anybody got a clue??? thanks, Ann

Jaws 12 question - Jaws unresponsive to keystrokes while in folder and link lists
Murray Peat <murraytp@...>
Hi people, my apologies if this has already been asked.
I recently upgraded from Jaws 11 pro to Jaws 12 pro. I am operating on xp professional and use high contrast settings. One of the first things I noticed with Jaws 12 is that when I am in a folder list in say outlook Jaws continues with its narrative even when I press the letter of the folder I wish to go to such as J for junk email. This happens on all applications and is of particular annoyance when I use f7 on the net to bring up the links list. When I hit a key to find a certain link Jaws still continues to read the link it is on and shows no haste in updating to the new link. I can get around this by using the control key to silence Jaws then I can hit the first letter of the link or folder I want and this does the trick however it is an extreme annoyance and slows things down for me. Does anyone know of a fix for this or is this just a new feature on Jaws 12 and I am stuck with it. I have all the latest Jaws 12 updates on my system so as far as I know there is no outstanding update available to help. I sent a request to Freedom Scientific however have not heard back thus far. Thanks kindly Murray

FW: If you're having trouble with iTunes 10.4, here's a workaround that works with JAWS, and I suspect it would work with other screen readers if they have this problem.
James Homuth
Some of you have reported problems with the latest version of iTunes. Here's
a possible fix, according to the sender. James, List Admin _____ From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Kevin Minor Sent: August-14-11 10:39 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: If you're having trouble with iTunes 10.4, here's a workaround that works with JAWS, and I suspect it would work with other screen readers if they have this problem. Hi. I'm a person that likes to keep up with the latest version of software. I therefore updated iTunes to version 10.4. I was annoyed to learn that JAWS 12 didn't work with the iTunes store. I used the virtual cursor, and all that was said was BLANK, BLANK, BLANK. Well, thanks to someone on the BlindTunes list, I can use the store again. It's not the nicest solution, but it works. When you're in the store using JAWS, turn off the virtual viewer with JAWS+Z. I now can see search results and download items from the store again. Looks like the virtual buffer in JAWS isn't getting updated. Hopefully this will be fixed soon. Hope this is helpful to you JAWS users out there, and if other screen readers are having the same problem, try turning off the virtual viewer, or whatever your screen reader calls it. Have a good evening. GO BUNGLES, er BENGALS, since the Reds aren't going to do anything this year. Why you need a change when something works, I'll never understand. Nevertheless, Foobar2000 is accessible, at least it was. I haven't used it for about 3 years, so can't say if it still is. And by the way, someone here claimed to be successfully using the latest version of VLC.

How to correct the time through In-Box mail
Doug
Hello Listers,
I have a question on the received time in my e-mail In Box. The clock time on the computer is correct, but when new e-mail comes in the In Box, the time is 17 to 18 minutes fast. Is there a way i can change this. I just had a friend send a test e-mail to me, and the time was off 17 minutes faster, then the correct time. I hope someone can help me out with any keystrokes. and whatever else. I was as anti apple as you can get but thought what the hell I'll try itunes. I installed it and loved it from the start. It's fully accessible accept for the itunes store which is about 80% accessible. It does everything you want and does nothing that it shouldn't. A lot of people don't like the way it orggennises your media but it works for me. A few weeks ago I said on this list that people using it should save themselves a coppy of the latest Itunes 10.4.4 I think it is, because itunes 11 will apparently be a total rebuild and I don't know what that meens for its accessibility. Try itunes and ask if their's anything else.
