Re: IE10...Yes or no, with some experience

Hi Morey,
I have Windows 7, Jaws 14, and IE 10. Overall, I have not seen many problems with IE 10, with one exception. If you use eBay very much, I wouldn’t get IE 10. For some reason, Jaws doesn’t play well with eBay and IE 10. If there are any work arounds, I don’t know about them. I sent this issue to Freedom Scientific. They told me they were looking into it, and that has been the last I have heard. The problem is with searches. If you have search results with a large number of items, Jaws becomes totally unresponsive. If you have a serch that returns, say twelve items, then, no problem. Doubtless, others can give you more feedback than me. Crystal From: Morey Worthington Sent: Sunday, March 31, 2013 3:12 PM To: JFW Subject: IE10...Yes or no, with some experience Hi all. IE 7 wants to install IE 10 on my 64 bit machine. Is there a majority consensus (sorry about spelling) as to whether to do it or not? I have had some experience with IE 10 on this machine before. It was a Dell machine that came with Win/8 and IE 10. This was 4 months ago. First off I had a real bad time installing Jaws 14 on the machine. Took 3 days and help from Dell and FS to get the proglem sorted out. That was finally sorted out and I started playing with the Win/8 and Jaws. Many different ways of doing things in 8 but that was another story. When I was using IE 10, there are 2 different versions of it in 8, I could not get IE 10 to keep my passwords for my internet favorites. No matter how I tried, even going to the tools and deleting the history and password files. After getting really frustrated I removed Win/8 from this machine and installed Win/7HP and now go on my merry way. Now that IE 10 wants to rejoin me, what does everyone think about it? Using newest bill of Jaws 14. Thanks for any thoughts. The only solution was to uninstall and reinstall Firefox, and hope it would help. Also I need further details on how to install plugins like Plain Old Favorites, Navigational Sounds, etc. Thanks. But before I consider updating to Firefox 4.0, I installed the portable version of Firefox 4.0 to see how well it works with JAWS 9. Everything seems to work satisfactorally except for the Add-Ons submenu under Tools. I was able to successfully install the Navigational Sounds, Plain Old Favorites and Webvisum add-ons after I launched Firefox 4 portable for the first time. However, when I try to access the Add-Ons submenu under Tools, a page called Add-Ons Manager comes up, but there is no list box of installed add-ons (extensions) or any other menu options. Obviously, if the add-ons work, they must be listed somewhere, but they don't show up on the Add-Ons submenu like they do in the full version of Firefox 3.6. Has anyone else encountered this issue with Firefox 4? Or is there a compatibility problem with JAWS 9? Or are the Add-ons perhaps listed somewhere else where they can be accessed? Thanks. Re: Headers and Footers in a word document
Tom Lange
Hi,
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
As previously suggested, you can use insert+f1 to check to see if there are indeed headers and footers, and, if they exist, JAWS should tell you when they are present on any given page. However, there's another way to know for sure, and I've used this technique regularly of late. 1. Go to the top of your document by pressing ctrl+home. 2. Press alt+v, followed by H. This will turn on the header/footer view. 3. At this point, you can use your down arrow to scroll through the headers and footers sequentially, page by page. If need be, you can even edit them if you want to, changing text and formatting as necessary. When you're finished, press alt+v followed by h again and you'll return to your regular document view. If you've made changes, save as necessary. Hope this helps. Tom
