Kirsten,

I've seen the Outlook Calendar issue, the "too quickly" issue, and the web
browser issue. And I'm on XP with JAWS 12.0.525.

You're not alone. However that doesn't help you, I know.

I've had JAWS "go to sleep" for over a minute at times when I've done
nothing more than Alt+Tab from one window to another, although it doesn't
happen more than a couple times during my workday.

I've had JAWS crash (shut down) Adobe Acrobat 9 one out of every three times
I close Adobe. Requires me starting Narrator to get some speech enough to
find the Adobe "We are sorry for the inconvenience...." dialog to dismiss,
then JAWS starts speaking again.

Definitely JAWS 12 is buggy, finicky, and erratic.

For you I recommend that you do indeed remove JAWS 12 completely, restart
your Windows 7 and then do a clean install of JAWS 12. Be sure to first back
up your dictionary files and place markers and personalization folders and
select "remove shared" and "remove user setting" when doing the uninstall of
JAWS 12.

Your condition sounds like it needs some major surgery to exorcise the
demons.

I was thinking of uninstalling and doing a full re-install, but this

what I could do regarding it. It is extremely irritating and makes things
very difficult. When it goes, I can't switch jaws back on with the hotkey or
unload it from the memory, I can only hold down the computer's button and
switch off. Sometimes it will come back straight on, and sometimes it takes
two or three attempts of restarting the computer before it will restart
properly.

No, restarting jaws, while in demo mode will not allow you to go back to the
start of demo time.

I had to do this once on a borrowed laptop. The NVDA commands closely
parallel those of JAWS, and although NVDA is a poor substitute if you need
anything remotely fancy, you can get by until Monday doing rudimentary
tasks.
There is one other option, but it's illegal, and I'm not going there.

Check on the fs page under product activation for the number of activation
keys you have. If you have no activation keys left then you will have to
request additional keys.

This could be the problem with your JAWS version 12 going into demo mode.

Hi Doug,

I don't think there is a way to change your email address receiving time.
Another thing I am not sure about is, if the servor time stamps your
incoming email or if your computer does that. If your providers servor time
is off, & email is time stamped by the servor, that would explain your time
difference providing that the clock on your computer is correct. These are
only thoughts of possibilities. Take care.

The time on the correct time is right, but when new e-mail comes the time
is 17 to 18 minutes fast.
Is there a way i can change this.
I just had a friend send a test e-mail to me, and the time was off 18

My iPhone is the only I can think affected my jaws. I will remember to save the code when I call FS. They need to have something setup for this for the weekend. Using NVD.

We've all been in your situation. Don't take it personally. I think you were
one who requested a copy of my tutorial on how to save your activations so
that you would not be caught like this? Did you read it an put it to work?

Usually you go into demo mode when you change some hardware on your
computer. Did you add a hard drive, CD-ROM, or some USB device? If so, that
triggers demo mode and requires a new key.

My CD burner died last Friday and I found that Outlook 9 went into 40-minute
mode as a result.

Having to wait until Monday is a total pain. I don't know of any emergency
reset option or after hours help at Freedom Scientific. I think I would
gladly pay, if I had to, to secure an authorization -- if I really needed
it. I can just imagine being in the middle of a major transaction requiring
work over the weekend and having this happen? Of course, that may exactly be
your situation.
If I remember correctly, demonstration mode runs for 30 minutes. To limp
through, I'd try the following, though I only know one of these will work.
1. At minute 28, unload JAWS and then load again. If this won't work, I'm
hoping someone who knows will say so.
2. At minute 28, log-out and then log-in again. That's better and faster
than a restart, and it may be good enough for the JAWS demo timer. Again, I
don't know whether this will work.
3. At minute 28, reboot. I know this will work, but what an enormous pain.
The only other lawful option I can think of is to download and fire up NVDA.
I had to do this once on a borrowed laptop. The NVDA commands closely
parallel those of JAWS, and although NVDA is a poor substitute if you need
anything remotely fancy, you can get by until Monday doing rudimentary
tasks.
There is one other option, but it's illegal, and I'm not going there.

Holgar,

We've all been in your situation. Don't take it personally. I think you were
one who requested a copy of my tutorial on how to save your activations so
that you would not be caught like this? Did you read it an put it to work?

Usually you go into demo mode when you change some hardware on your
computer. Did you add a hard drive, CD-ROM, or some USB device? If so, that
triggers demo mode and requires a new key.

My CD burner died last Friday and I found that Outlook 9 went into 40-minute
mode as a result.

Hi,
I have not followed this thread but I have had some problems with JAWS
thinking that my version was not authorized and asked me if I wanted to
authorize it.
If one was not careful it would be easy to say "yes" and thereby lose 1
authorization.
I just turned off the computer and started again. JAWS was all happy then.

How to change the time in recieved mail

Hello Listers,

I have a question on the time in my computer.

The time on the correct time is right, but when new e-mail comes the time is 17 to 18 minutes fast.
Is there a way i can change this.
I just had a friend send a test e-mail to me, and the time was off 18 minutes faster, then the correct time.

I hope someone can help me out.

The only suggestion I can think of is to download NVDA if you have not
already done so and use it as your backup screen reader until you can get
your JAWS activation issue resolved. NVDA is not as comprehensive as JAWS,
of course, but it is still a very good screen reader for most functions.
