This isn't a JAWS key, but an MS command. Your JAWS version shouldn't
matter.

Press F5 for reload page. I just tested it before posting on a Youtube
page
that has always brought up an ad. The first time I pressed F5 it
interrupted
the ad but brought up a second one. I pressed F5 a second time, the ad
stopped and the song began. Then I closed out the webpage and linked back
into it. This time no ad at all; just the song.

Hi, does anyone know how to skip ads on YouTube. Sighted people tell me
you
can do it but I can't find a button which lets me do it. I'm using JAWS 14

Re: repairing hard disk errors

You don't say what operating system you are using but generally if it is Windows if you go to properties on your hard drive and tab over to tools you will find a check for errors item, some versions have two items to select from but generally what they do is check for bad tracks on the hard drive and repair them Which I think they do by relocating the data in the bad area to a good area and marking the bad area so it isn't used again. My computer seems to be running OK. However, I keep getting a message that
says Windows has detected a hard disk error. I am running carbonite, so
that should take care of backup.

The one program I know about is chkdsk/f. I had to run it as part of my
boot up. It doesn't give me a report. I just end up where I usually do,
and I'm still getting the same error message.

Does anyone know of a program I can use to try to find and correct whatever
problem, if any, I have? The famous Norton Disk Doctor is no more, and
there's a plethora of freeware.

Re: where do I find add or remove programs?

David Bailes

Hi Lauren,
as someone has already pointed out, what used to be the add or remove programs page of the control panel is called programs and features in windows 8 (and 7 and vista, I think).
Also, as someone has already said, you can open programs and features from the quick link menu, which you open by pressing windows key + x. Note that you can open this from anywhere, not just the desktop.
In Windows 8 searching for settings is slightly different than in windows 7. Searching is handled by the search pane (charm), and you have to specify whether you searching for programs, settings, files et.
To search for settings, press windows key + w, type in your search terms, then arrow down if necessary.
To find Programs and features, using either programs and features, or add and remove programs as search terms works.
For more info on the search pane, see:
http://vip.chowo.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/jaws/Search-Pane-8-Guide.html

David.

Also, once your at the desktop all you need do is press windows x and you'll
get a menu. Programs and features will be listed on that.

I know that, but the J-say scripts are tethered to the specific Jaws version
and to the specific Dragon version. Pretty lousy, but that's how they did
them. Not sure how they do it now, but I think they are still tethered right
down to the build number.
